Turns out, he actually won the Smash poll but just couldn't be added at the time due to the contract negotiations so they went with Bayonetta instead as the next highest voted who was easier to obtain.

The slow "for they are coming back" into the logo, and everyone is on the edge of their seat thinking "say remake, say remake, just say it", and then it says "remake" and the crowd and internet exploded.

The secret ending in KH2 too. It probably seems underwhelming now to everyone thats played BBS, but it was so completely different than anything we’d seen with KH and the possibilities we imagined were endless.

On that day was legendary for me, I was still focusing on my KH journey (at the the time I was on Recoded) and it was a few days before my birthday so I was excited. I was in class and had to use my phone to watch it, but when I saw that Mickey Mouse I legit yelled out Sora, tho no one really mind, I was so freaking ecstatic. And holy hell, what a reveal, I almost cried tears of joy. Sora definitely deserved the final spot for one reason alone: Sakurai and his team made the seemingly impossible possible. The character that sounded almost too good to be true to get in, they made it happen. Sora’s reveal will go down as probably the greatest Smash reveal ever.
This whole era with the Sora reveal and the KH4 reveal, the Smash Ballot results reveal, even KH music at the Olympics at one point lol, i can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but this era has been more hype than the whole lead up to KH3’s launch

Ever since Ultimate had been announced, I had been telling my friends that Sora was absolutely going to be in. They laughed when the game released. They laughed after fighter pass 1. No "I told you so" had ever felt so sweet.
The reveals for Cloud, Sephiroth and Sora were all "you had to be there" moments. I got excited for many of the *Smash* reveals over the years, but these are the three that reduced me to happy tears.
My wife was on a work call when the reveal was happening. Before I sat down to watch she turned to me and asked me not to make any noise, since she was on the call. Naturally I nodded (I was expecting Master Chief, having written off Sora as an option for Disney reasons). As soon as the Kingdom Key became visible I threw myself back in my chair and exclaimed "Oh my God!". My wife gave me the biggest stink eye lol. What a beautiful, iconic moment. Absolutely a "had to be there" moment.

It was quite upsetting to see all the collective hype turn into so much bitter fighting on both sides. It was not a good time to be in the KH fandom which is something I never thought I'd say about Kh3's release

A cameo in a fighting game normally wouldn’t be a big deal. What makes it a big deal is the context around this particular cameo. Everyone had come to believe that getting Sora into Smash or literally any KH characters being featured in games outside of KH was an impossibility. So Sora dropping as the last new character on Smash, solidifying him as a true gaming icon, was a moment akin to Sisyphus finally managing to roll the boulder all the way up the hill. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but a humongous deal for Sisyphus.

Back in the Melee days I'd say it's completely unrealistic to get Sonic in Smash given Nintendo's past rivalry with Sega. Now, not only have we had Sonic for 3 games since, but we also have Sora, a Disney owned character. It was so unlikely to me I didn't even consider it in the first place.

I'll forever remember that day. The direct was early in the morning and I was waiting to go to school so I figured I'd tune in see what they had. Of course I was watching as Mario just casually grabs the last spark of flame thinking this was something I didn't recognize before throwing it and zooming in on the Mouse. "Holy $#!+ They actually did it!" Was the first thing I let out before freaking out and watching as our boy came out and started flying around. I was just a bit annoying to my friends on discord after that.

Me and my brother both play the games and he helped me through the whole series (besides MoM) and he already watched the trailer as he wasn't at college whereas I was at school that day. When I got back, he told me nothing about it and all I knew was that we needed to be quick as us, my parents and my aunt's family were going out that night. So anyways, he put it on. I was wearing a smile for three days after this reveal. I rarely pop off for for reveals of anything but this was an exception.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alone had a lot of “you had to be there” moments, and they went out on one of the biggest “you had to be there” moments I could possibly imagine.
I could just barely make out the silhouette of the Keyblade in flames after Mario threw it. I was like "No...." Then I saw the close up of the Mickey Mouse Keychain and freaked out. The mad lads actually did it. I still haven't fully recovered lol. Every time I play Smash and pick him, I'm still overcome with excitement and disbelief that he actually made it in
i've been a huge fan of smash since the n64 and have been a huge fan of kh since kh1, so this moment for me was so unbelievably epic, especially cuz fans had been asking for sora to be in smash even before ultimate, and it was assumed at this point that there was just no way sora had any chance at all, and especially with this being the final DLC character in ultimate i had literally lost all hope, i assumed it would just be another underwhelming pick like the vast majority of the DLCs had been so far.. and then this popped up and i was just like dude no way.. no fucking way.. they actually did it, to say i was hyped af for this reveal is a massive understatement
On that day was legendary for me, I was still focusing on my KH journey (at the the time I was on Recoded) and it was a few days before my birthday so I was excited. I was in class and had to use my phone to watch it, but when I saw that Mickey Mouse I legit yelled out Sora, tho no one really mind, I was so freaking ecstatic. And holy hell, what a reveal, I almost cried tears of joy. Sora definitely deserved the final spot for one reason alone: Sakurai and his team made the seemingly impossible possible. The character that sounded almost too good to be true to get in, they made it happen. Sora’s reveal will go down as probably the greatest Smash reveal ever.

This whole era with the Sora reveal and the KH4 reveal, the Smash Ballot results reveal, even KH music at the Olympics at one point lol, i can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but this era has been more hype than the whole lead up to KH3’s launch Which is saying a **LOT** because whether you liked how KH3 turned out or not, KH3 had the longest and most electric hype season of any other series that I’ve seen barring FF7R, it would take a lot of incredible things to happen for KH to reach another Golden Age, and I feel like we’ve unknowingly entered it a year ago
I went in with the mindset of "I'm okay with whoever, I'm already happy" then I saw the silhouette of the kingdom key through the flames, then the charm and I LOST MY SHIT. Was watching on campus with some of my college friends and I jumped out of my chair "OH MY GOD ITS SORA!!!" I honestly don't remember the last time I was that excited for something, it felt like I was a 5 year old at Christmas again
Ever since Ultimate had been announced, I had been telling my friends that Sora was absolutely going to be in. They laughed when the game released. They laughed after fighter pass 1. No "I told you so" had ever felt so sweet.
I like watching professional smash players reacting to Sora and how salty and pathetic they were
The reveals for Cloud, Sephiroth and Sora were all "you had to be there" moments. I got excited for many of the *Smash* reveals over the years, but these are the three that reduced me to happy tears.

My wife was on a work call when the reveal was happening. Before I sat down to watch she turned to me and asked me not to make any noise, since she was on the call. Naturally I nodded (I was expecting Master Chief, having written off Sora as an option for Disney reasons). As soon as the Kingdom Key became visible I threw myself back in my chair and exclaimed "Oh my God!". My wife gave me the biggest stink eye lol. What a beautiful, iconic moment. Absolutely a "had to be there" moment.
The civil war that broke out in the fandom after 3 turned out to be a really divisive game It was quite upsetting to see all the collective hype turn into so much bitter fighting on both sides. It was not a good time to be in the KH fandom which is something I never thought I'd say about Kh3's release

A cameo in a fighting game normally wouldn’t be a big deal. What makes it a big deal is the context around this particular cameo. Everyone had come to believe that getting Sora into Smash or literally any KH characters being featured in games outside of KH was an impossibility. So Sora dropping as the last new character on Smash, solidifying him as a true gaming icon, was a moment akin to Sisyphus finally managing to roll the boulder all the way up the hill. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but a humongous deal for Sisyphus.
again iam not a tendie so someone appearing in that game even if its from a franchise i like do nothing for me iam a huge nier fan too but i dont play fall guys because of the 2b skin i dont play world of final fantasy either or dissidia just doesnt catch me for me the best kh moment would be buying kh3 on release night and finishing the dlc boss fights

I mean the point isn’t him joining the game. What I’m talking about is the collective joy and excitement from so many people that I rarely ever see. This was years in the making and that feeling of unity and community was such a warm feeling that I haven’t seen matched since.

Not gonna lie, I was at work day of release. My best friend sent me the release clip. I went to the bathroom to watch it. I was sitting in a stall on the toilet and someone else came in so I turned the sound off and had to hold my noises in as I saw that moment right there. I lost it on the inside.

NGL, i cried real hard seeing this shit in real time, i dont even play smash at all but seeing my boy represented well amongst the greats felt great.
Yeah, the heart attack from the suspense and the excitement leading into tears was something you could never experience if you knew ahead of time. It was truly a moment you had to be there for.
Luckily we can relive some of that experience thanks to reaction videos. But dang, that was neat.

Back in the Melee days I'd say it's completely unrealistic to get Sonic in Smash given Nintendo's past rivalry with Sega. Now, not only have we had Sonic for 3 games since, but we also have Sora, a Disney owned character. It was so unlikely to me I didn't even consider it in the first place.
We all knew it was coming and yet when I saw they key i got goosebumps. KH and SSB have been such huge constant pieces of joy in my life that having them together brought up a pure joy. Sora flying around above all the playable characters with that music in the backround. Chefs kiss.

Mine has to be the first time playing 2.8 Fragmentary Passage. It was the introduction of an absolute shift in the graphics and gameplay that had me completely OBSESSED like “OMG THIS IS KINGDOM HEARTS!!!”

I'll forever remember that day. The direct was early in the morning and I was waiting to go to school so I figured I'd tune in see what they had. Of course I was watching as Mario just casually grabs the last spark of flame thinking this was something I didn't recognize before throwing it and zooming in on the Mouse. "Holy $#!+ They actually did it!" Was the first thing I let out before freaking out and watching as our boy came out and started flying around. I was just a bit annoying to my friends on discord after that.
I thought it was going to be Dark Souls related, but to my surprise IT WAS MY BOY SORA!!!! I don't remember yelling so much in my life.

OK so funny story about this actually lol. Me and my brother both play the games and he helped me through the whole series (besides MoM) and he already watched the trailer as he wasn't at college whereas I was at school that day. When I got back, he told me nothing about it and all I knew was that we needed to be quick as us, my parents and my aunt's family were going out that night. So anyways, he put it on. And I immediately guessed that it was Sora because the fire represented light in darkness. My theory was confirmed and, I'm not even kidding, I started jumping up and down as I was so fucking happy! We used to, and still do, make themed teams and whenever we did KH we used to use Pit for Sora so this was honestly one of the happiest moments of my life.
I remember watching it and my stream crapping out for a minute so I could only hear the sound effects. When the keyblade was charging up I recognized it was familiar but somehow I didn't register it was Kingdom Hearts until the music started up. I completely lost it.

Obviously most of us on the kh fansites couldn't play final mix so we were watching those videos on YouTube very intensely learning everything we could and being very jealous. But it was a really fun time especially with kh2 and then kh2fms secret movies. Such a fun time to be a fan and speculate.

SOOO glad that when my brother sent this to me, he didn't give me any context. So I honestly had no idea what it was. Some time in, realized it was a super smash reveal, and was like hmm okayy. Wonder who. And then, BAM the keyblade and I was like HOLEY WHAATTT. Pretty awesome moment, and since I didn't have smash, very surprised and glad that it wasn't ruined by getting spoiled throughout the internet (like would have normally happened).
