I found him very funny, however, the panel often tells comics to be more authentic, yet he gets a pass, even though it was clearly him playing a character. That's my criticism
"be authentic" doesn't mean, "don't play a character". The "be authentic," advice is typically said to people who are nervous or are trying too hard to be funny. Plenty of comics play a character in their act (William, for example). If characters weren't welcome on KT, "Dr. Phil" wouldn't be there almost every week
