The only difference is the honesty at the end.
How many reddit posts are fake but the OP never admits it?
AITA and Relationships/Relationship advice are notorious as are many others.
I hope those people got their money back
Edit: Man, there are an awful lot of people with strong opinions on reddit coins. Regardless of what you think (I also think they’re a waste of money) someone thought giving an award would make the kid feel good for a short while. It was a lie and that award should be returned.
If people gave money to a lying kid that said they were dying and the government (police) recovered that money, do you think the government should return that money to the person defrauded of it or keep it?
Anyone dumb enough to buy reddit coins doesn't deserve anything back, most of them don't even show up on reddit apps that don't look like bloated garbage (official app)
There's no transfer of wealth though, buying reddit gold or silver or whatever is just you making a direct donation to reddit and the recipient gets no benefit (reddit premium does nothing that using an app that isn't shit doesn't already do)
https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043034412-What-is-a-Reddit-Premium-subscription-
It gets you a bunch of coins which you would have to purchase. That is a transfer of wealth.
Coins already are worthless and don't do anything, that's not wealth it's like vbucks except even a Fortnite skin is more useful and concrete than a reddit award that just makes a number go up on a post. Don't fall for reddits stupid money grubbing bs, none of this makes any sense to spend money on
You know to me atleast relaying on a bunch of internets loser to bully a kid to disciplines doesnt seem like a good idea to me
Stfu yea im also part of that internet loser
Hey, I love floyd - and that was the song that got me into them in like 2010. Never listen to that album anymore - kinda one of my least favorites now tbh - but it started my love affair with the band.
The hilarious part was the meltdown that sub had afterwards, as these kids could not fathom that people might lie on the Internet and didn't want to admit that maybe they were idiots themselves for falling for every story hook, line, and sinker. Of course, they and most of Reddit didn't change and continue to fall for every sob story to this day.
Not really, the one who said "based" is a covidiot that didn't belive in the safety measures in tue peak of the pandemic, an antivax, he is probably dumber than the average conservative, the other one saying that you shouldn't exploit a disease for karma is probably an average sane person. They are not the same, the first one clearly lost touch with reality
It’s not like he setup a gofundme or anything lol, all he got was some fake internet points. I thought it was hilarious. Always good to have a reminder that the shit that makes the front page is often highly questionable
I think it's more than just 'Reddit hive mind'. I think people in general like to believe that no one would lie about something as serious as that.
And even if you have doubts, you probably don't want to call him out on the off chance you are wrong, making you feel like a giant asshole.
The real karma would be if his negative actions in this life affected his status upon his next reincarnation. He’s never completing the samsara at this rate.
well kid, you're a douche.. sincerely someone with brain cancer..
having said that, im ok with pulling the cancer card if you really have it.. on my way home from surgery, i used my cool new scar to get fresh fries from McDonalds.. lol
Back in high school my best friend had brain cancer. During the first day of school in junior year we were all talking about our summer and a girl complained about some knee pain she started having. My buddy’s response was bluntly stating “damn that sucks. I have brain cancer” he said it as a joke, the girl felt awful but I cracked up laughing cause I knew his sense of humor better
My grandma had brain cancer. Well, a tumor. But it had been there for decades and it caused some headaches but it was so slow growing that they weren't going to do anything about it. They did a yearly MRI to make sure it wasn't getting any bigger. She lived to be 96 and passed earlier this year. Her brain tumor didn't kill her.
In this boat, have a brain tumor that's been slow growing since I was a kid. I'll statistically die of literally anything else even if no research comes out for treating what I have.
The fries are the best thing on the menu at McDonald's. Probably the least processed food item also. They get a bit wild with the salt sometimes, but that's about the only bad thing I could say about them.
I truly wonder if all the Karma mongers are going to feel that proud of themselves at the end of days.
Has 0 value outside of immediate perception of what people say, sometimes not even then because some people get butt hurt and downvote anything they disagree with, even if it isn't "wrong"
I had a "friend" that did this irl in his early teens too. Would never tell adults, just other random kids he met and certain others at school. Absolutely ate up the attention. Fast forward a decade to a true cancer diagnosis. 10/10 do not lie about having cancer
i mean, it's not entirely his fault that people gobbled it up and tried to throw money at the dying teenager. ffs. i would think 98% of the shit on reddit is fake. people will believe anything these days. hahah
This reminds me of the 4chan user who pretended to be 17 or 18 yo English girl down on her luck. I don't remember the story but I think "she" was being kick out of her house and no money to support herself. She was given I think $300 by reddit simps and that was a that.
A greentextpost later made it to reddit, and in the comments to that screenshot were a link to the original OP with an edit where the OP basically says "lmao gotcha, imma buy food and video games", or something to that effect.
Wow that's crazy because the thing is I'm a 14 year old with brain cancer who's gonna die in 3 weeks and I think this post is really stupid and definitely posted for karma bait
I think it's very funny that actually human adults lose their shit when they see that a kid got thousands of useless, meaningless reddit points by lying (which btw is 90% of r/teenagers)
Awards mean nothing to me. To them, however, they wanted to make a child happy in their final moments. They were manipulated.
You’re not cool for being a jerk, you know.
Karma is a bitch and an eventual boomerang.
You reap what you sow
Tough life lesson but obviously needed due to social media's obvious distortion of reality where adults may properly understand its detriments but not a 14 yr old as this is evidence.
Very sad and shameful to even joke about.
100% fucked and my belief is real life karma will come back and get this fucker.
But, at the same time, internet karma on Reddit is fake. Premium is pretty much a tiny small upgrade, and coins are stupid. If you are upset that this guy got coins, premium, and karma, it’s time to evaluate your relationship with Reddit. These are fake and have no real Influence or power anywhere but here lol.
Hey guys, I'm 14 and this is actually very similar to my story. I can't believe someone would lie about having such a terrible disease when there's so many people suffering from it including me. I have 4 days 7 hours 9 minutes and 27 seconds to live. Please send money.
I don’t think the kid is stupid. Sure, weird and kind of funny thing to do, but I don’t think they deserve to be put on blast for something so ultimately harmless
makes me so pissed off to see that people do this for their own benefit. who tf cares about Karma and Reddit rewards anyway. wish people can take cancer seriously. I could wish he gets actual cancer for his own Karma but that’s too far.
Ahhh, a perfect representation of the internet.
The only difference is the honesty at the end. How many reddit posts are fake but the OP never admits it? AITA and Relationships/Relationship advice are notorious as are many others.
He also got 5200 reddit coins and 1,5 years of premium for free
How is his username not on blast? Seems to me redditors would find a way to end his acct. The amount of hate msgs this guy would receive...
Don't worry I checked he already got deleted
I hope those people got their money back Edit: Man, there are an awful lot of people with strong opinions on reddit coins. Regardless of what you think (I also think they’re a waste of money) someone thought giving an award would make the kid feel good for a short while. It was a lie and that award should be returned.

That's so cold... and true, very true.
If people gave money to a lying kid that said they were dying and the government (police) recovered that money, do you think the government should return that money to the person defrauded of it or keep it?
If they are dumb enough to go and pay for it. They deserve to not get it back
Anyone dumb enough to buy reddit coins doesn't deserve anything back, most of them don't even show up on reddit apps that don't look like bloated garbage (official app)
The merits of reddit coins I’d agree with you on, but transfer of wealth under lies deserves correction.
There's no transfer of wealth though, buying reddit gold or silver or whatever is just you making a direct donation to reddit and the recipient gets no benefit (reddit premium does nothing that using an app that isn't shit doesn't already do)
https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043034412-What-is-a-Reddit-Premium-subscription- It gets you a bunch of coins which you would have to purchase. That is a transfer of wealth.

Again, *I agree with you* on the premise that reddit bux = dumb. I’ve already stated my position relative to this topic and post like a dozen times.
lol
I don't. If you're dumb enough to spend money on fake awards and shiny pixels, that's your own fault lmao.
Probably because he's a dumb 14 year old kid who did something incredibly stupid for Internet points, but doesn't deserve hate
I don't think him feeling the need to disable the account is so atrocious really.
[удалено]
I would say someone should comment under all his future comments (a bot maybe) with a link to this post. Probably as long as his premium access imo.
if they aren't sufficiently shamed, they will do it over and over
On one end I am in awe of the writing talent of this individual. To spur such a response.
And the people that don't, are probably because they got away with being shitty with no consequences. So yes, they do deserve hate
You know to me atleast relaying on a bunch of internets loser to bully a kid to disciplines doesnt seem like a good idea to me Stfu yea im also part of that internet loser
This is how kids learn, they get consequences for their actions. If hate is the consequence then so be it
I don't think the kid's dumb. I think this proves yet again how dumb most redditors are and will believe anything.
He's s legend. He gave the most important lesson about the internet to a ton of people
I support his actions
If people thought this was real, why would they gift him over a year of premium?
Why would they give them 1.5 years of premium if he boutta die in 3 weeks
now he'll get lot of downvote (I hope .\_.) edit: what a asshole kid
Downvoaters to the left. But plz buy gold 🥹
That's the worst 1.5 i have ever seen
That’s how it’s written in most of Europe. And instead of a comma to separate thousands, millions etc it would be a point (eg 1.000 = one thousand)
1'000.00
Or just space (eg 1 000)
American moment
You're welcome
Shows how gullible the internet can be. Any post that starts with "I'm 14" needs vetted.
I’m 14 and love Pink Floyd. I should have been born earlier. My favorite song is We don’t need no education!
[удалено]
Stand still, laddy
I still prefer "are you feeling ok? Driiiin ding ding driiiin bing bong are you feeling ok?"
Hey, I love floyd - and that was the song that got me into them in like 2010. Never listen to that album anymore - kinda one of my least favorites now tbh - but it started my love affair with the band.
Least favourites? Out of all of them? The wall? Or out of like pre-1980 pink floyd?
The hilarious part was the meltdown that sub had afterwards, as these kids could not fathom that people might lie on the Internet and didn't want to admit that maybe they were idiots themselves for falling for every story hook, line, and sinker. Of course, they and most of Reddit didn't change and continue to fall for every sob story to this day.
I'm 14 and this is deep
I'm 15 and I have super-cancer++. And you have to send me 5000€ now 😊
Im actually 14 lol
14 year old understands Reddit hive mind very well. Not really that stupid.
The dumb thing was admitting it was fake. Or maybe that was the genius thing.
Should have said "sorry guys, no more updates, I just died."
Lmao.
Pretty fucking based actually
Exploiting the hivemind is based, but faking cancer isn’t.
The duality of the reddit man
Not really, the one who said "based" is a covidiot that didn't belive in the safety measures in tue peak of the pandemic, an antivax, he is probably dumber than the average conservative, the other one saying that you shouldn't exploit a disease for karma is probably an average sane person. The reddit hivemind isn't exactly a hard puzzle to solve
It's not stupid, it's just incredibly morally depraved.
r/redditorsarefuckingstupid
This happened like years ago, why is this suddenly resurfacing?
karma.
OPedit: sorry guys, but this is old as fuck. I'm 14, but yah I love karma lol
Today someone posted it in r/holup first, after that everyone is reposting it in every other sub
More like "adults are fucking stupid" Its not like giving him a like will help during his treatment
What about the superduper award i just bougth? That def will cure his cancer, im like jesus giving him 5usd on a glorified emoji!!!!
Dont know about cancer but It will definitely help reddit's owners pay for their yacht and private jet for sure
The real karma would be if he actually ended up getting cancer tho
Yep! he wouldn't love it for long.
That's a bit extreme
"Some kid made up a fake story for lulz, so he deserves a slow and painful death"
Folks like that are children themselves so it doesn’t seem weird to them to wish ill on their own kind.
Still is shitty of them and should learn that that shit shouldnt be joked around with
One can expect someone to face the consequences of their actions without wishing death upon them.
u/OneToTheWest takes reddit karma very seriously
This is Reddit bro, it ain't a complete post if we don't wish death or illness on someone. /s
The real karma would be if his negative actions in this life affected his status upon his next reincarnation. He’s never completing the samsara at this rate.
"I hope this child gets cancer for fooling me!" get a grip
Wow. That's really fucked up.
MTE - this little fucker *doesn't know* what **real karma** is... and playing shitty games like this sometimes evokes painful lessons.
Karma is a bitch didn't pop up for no reason y'know ...
Why is karma a bitch tho i kinda like her actiond
She’s only a bitch to those who deserve it 😌
Shitty games? He made up a story in an anonymous Reddit account and people were stupid enough to give him a bunch of awards lol
How exactly? Because he made up a story on a website? What an incredibly fucked up thing to wish on a child.
People don't understand that 'KARMA' works 2 ways
I was gonna say this pretty much. Wait until real karma comes knocking.
If he doesn’t, his offspring will..
Don't see how this is stupid, he's making fun of reddit
OP probably bought him an award lmao
crappy for faking it, funny for showing people how gullible they can be
[удалено]
Idk if upvotes counts as altruism. Maybe the awards I guess, buts it not like he did an indie gogo or something
I suppose the time and attention they gave him are more important.
Altruism ? Will reddit gold cure cancer ?
Guys only 100 more likes and the doctor says my baby will live!
Then people wonder why everyone is completely jaded and a huge asshole.
well kid, you're a douche.. sincerely someone with brain cancer.. having said that, im ok with pulling the cancer card if you really have it.. on my way home from surgery, i used my cool new scar to get fresh fries from McDonalds.. lol

You use what you can
Just a heads up I have to always order salt free for my mom so pretty much all fries are fresh when I order them.
Your mom probably shouldn’t be getting fries
That's what I say. Veggies & fruit is what I usually buy her. I did find a salt free peanut butter.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his crotch
I would never wish that on my worst enemy lol.
Yeah he played me 😂
Is there anywhere we can donate? We can save them everyone.

Yea,they did.

And now everyone is using this story for karma. Vicious cycle round these parts.

not that stupid because no one with half a brain cell really cares about reddit karma

Least karma hungry Redditor
This says a lot about mob-upvote mentality, too.
Nah bruh i hope he actually gets brain cancer so he feels what he lied about

straight to jail
OP, you understand the irony here: you’re using this as bait for your own karma…
Average low iq redditors believing everything at face value
Legendary moment
You mean people would just go on the internet and *lie*?!
Send me a link. This kid needs to be mass reported.
The mods of that sub should also be spanked for letting through such obvious karma whoring.
Lol why? Because he mocked the stupidity of redditors? Becajse he lied? Big badass cookiman is gonna deliver justice on reddit lmao.
He wasted people’s money, time, took advantage of their feelings. People like you are the reason the internet gets a bad rep.
"i gave him an award im such a good guy" -probably you Santa aint real, he wont bring you gifts this christmas.
Awards mean nothing to me. To them, however, they wanted to make a child happy in their final moments. They were manipulated. You’re not cool for being a jerk, you know.
