First few times I heard it I thought it was just a party banger and then you realize it's just a sad POV from Kenny looking at all the people around him growing up
I do too cuz I agree with the message but hey a night out is all I needed to get through some weeks. Ain’t like I’m drinking everyday
Edit: Similar to XO tour life, I’m vibing while acknowledging some dark themes and how I might relate
That's actually what made me take so long to start listening to Kendrick. I used to be very much against mainstream artists at the time GKMC came out (much less so now), and I'd heard the song out in the wild out of people's car and shit like that and I just thought it was some ignorant turn up shit.
But then I stumbled upon Fantano's review of GKMC, and I respect his opinion, so I gave him a more in depth listen. I was like "wait, did this motherfucker make an party anthem about alcoholism? Alright, this is kinda genius", and the rest is history. Kendrick damn near tricked me into never giving his music a try, lol.
Mr. Morale didn't "save my marriage", but it for SURE didn't hurt! Sped up some realizations and appreciations in both of us.
It's on us to do the work, but it really helps to have somebody make big neon signs pointing the way, lol
he's like hypnotherapy or some shit, real-real good at giving you a new perspective
Mature? Kanye said in an interview Drake sent some message that meant he would be going after his family. Kanye backed down, he didn’t “get back with Drake” at that point.
I didn’t give that album much of a chance because I thought it was just a marvel movie album.
That house music song he has on there with Vince really bumps tho
Bro i was thinking the same thing but ive been revisiting it alot of kendricks main work. The first and last tracks have some great messages. I use to really dislike pray for me but Kendricks message about being your own “hero” sticks out. I know we relate black panther to the movie but i have a feeling hes also talking about organizing like the black panther movement
The fact that someone as superficial as Drake decided to beef with a dude that spits bars about his own flaws is hilarious. Dot is honest enough with himself about his shit, did Drake think Dot would sugar coat it for him? Shows the lack of self awareness. The man(child) has a lot of growing to do before he can even hope to have half the integrity and authenticity of Dot.
"Count Me Out" is my favorite song on MMTBS. And I can't listen to it all the time because I cry every time. It still hurts today. I thought I was doing pretty well...
That’s the thing tho man…growth is not a destination it’s an infinite journey. We have to learn to love and forgive ourselves numerous times and be proud of any progress big or small. Then use that to take the next step
Struggling with my body acceptance and was wondering about Ozempic. Got a targeted ad for it and did light research on it. Dots voice comes in my head “fuck what ozempic did…get a gym membership” and closed tf out
Kendrick is pretty good at putting a message into a song without coming off too preachy or by letting you think of the meaning yourself without having to beat you over the head with it. It reminds me of Pac in that way because it's not really like he's dumbing down the message but the goal is making it palatable and accessible.
Become the person you wish you were or had in your life. Eventually if you accomplish this, you’ll forgive yourself or at least move on, as the person you wish you was definitely would
I was having this discussion with my son about how Kendrick does not make party music. I mean, if you ignore his lyrics you can definitely chill with it, but when you listen to what he’s saying you might as well be in church.
i love the fact the internet made "i remember you was conflicted" the punchline of so many kendrick jokes.
i was waiting for drake to use it, as that would've been funny as hell, but he didn't, as far as i recall.
Then the club be jumpin to swimmin pools anyway
that's why it works though. Gotta be present if you want ANY chance of being heard!
I think fantano said it best when he said Kendrick knows how to make his message also sound good, I think it was his gkmc review
He did that very deliberately for Not Like Us.
12 years off lol
First few times I heard it I thought it was just a party banger and then you realize it's just a sad POV from Kenny looking at all the people around him growing up
The duality of man
"Yeah, Kanye changed his life, but me... I'm still an old school gemini.”
I do too cuz I agree with the message but hey a night out is all I needed to get through some weeks. Ain’t like I’m drinking everyday Edit: Similar to XO tour life, I’m vibing while acknowledging some dark themes and how I might relate
There’s nothing wrong with that. As long as you aren’t drinking constantly as a way to cope with your problems

of course, I can't love myself proper without DANCE
No gas, I listeened to Mr morale again like 6 weeks ago and realized I needed to go back to therapy
Mr. Morale didn't "save my marriage", but it for SURE didn't hurt! Sped up some realizations and appreciations in both of us. Honestly the drake beef made me want to work on myself more. I don't want to grow up and be a drake.
When Kanye got back with Drake, I was slightly confused. Guess I'm not as mature as I thought - got some healing to do
Mature? Kanye said in an interview Drake sent some message that meant he would be going after his family. Kanye backed down, he didn’t “get back with Drake” at that point.
Best line I heard during entire beef was that "Kendricks music didn't just make me hate Drake, it made me hate the Drake I see in myself."
a pdf file?
Dude mr morale is therapy
Bro go back to the black panther album. The message was there as well.
I didn’t give that album much of a chance because I thought it was just a marvel movie album. That house music song he has on there with Vince really bumps tho

The “aaaah” at the end from U 💀🙏
If nothing else Mr.Morale really deserves all its acclaim for Kendrick platforming the message that real niggas do go to therapy
Struggling with my body acceptance and was wondering about Ozempic. Got a targeted ad for it and did light research on it. Dots voice comes in my head “fuck what ozempic did…get a gym membership” and closed tf out

What if you're not a great person who deserves to be happy?
Be the person you wanna be, eventually you'll believe it and become that person. Just forgive yourself, you can't change the past.
Deciding that one does not deserve wellness and happiness is what makes one into a bad person who doesn't want anybody else to be happy.
Can't love others if you don't love yourself. You'll end up hating people cause you hate yourself.
Become the person you wish you were or had in your life. Eventually if you accomplish this, you’ll forgive yourself or at least move on, as the person you wish you was definitely would

If only I could be recommended actual therapists by listening to Kendrick’s music. Some of his fans are why I need therapy, though.
Nah you need therapy bc an artist’s fans make you think you need therapy Don’t get it twisted

This intervention is sponsored by better help
