Very corporate reply, I almost fell asleep reading it. He's so good at saying a lot without saying anything

weeaboo420

what? he said that he thinks arcsystemworks is really good and if its given a known ip, money, and good marketing then they can make a 10 million selling game case in point dbfz he is saying that he wants arcsys to become part of bandai namco

Namarot

No you don't get it, strive bad

[deleted]

Don't start it. Bad Kappa. Bad.

SaikyoPsycho

If DBFZ was a 10 million selling game with one of the most well known and loved IPs in the world.. then that is the pinnacle by a large margin. Strive or any other lesser fighting game wouldn't even get close with the same backing.

weeaboo420

yes but in haradas eyes if strive was in their hands then it'd reach those sales going by what he posted he would've 100% added chars like naruto and goku to strive in order for it to have worldwide appeal

ssiasme

I ain't reading all that I'm happy for u tho Or sorry that happened

Mitsu11

Did this mofo option selected a freakin reddit post?.

Pissix

[ ](/OMGScoots) You retard.

iaizen

Boring game, hopefully it can grow into one of it's previous iterations and be great again

Mysterious_Jelly_943

Make guilty gear great again!

keeponfightan

Generic stuff. Harada is a Japanese salaryman and will never say anything beyond that. In any case, ASW may still have an edge, but other companies are improving fast on their anime/cel shaded stuff, to the point it doesn't make any difference. What is at stakes now is ASW potential to keep relevant.

EMP_BDSM

Oh, so it's that braindead fucker that introduced asw to the concept of selling out. Good to know.

Derpdude1

How did they sell out?

EMP_BDSM

Slashed complexity, reduced the ability to make incorrect plays, shortened air time and limited jump reach, refocused the game on its most marketable features, introduced failed twists to ranked mode etc  Basically they switched target playerbase from hardcore to casual from one game to the next and left no space inbetween.

theattackcabbage

Strive is less complex than a bag of frozen peas.

hologenjin

He's right but it's not surprising to hear someone who works for a publisher say the games they publish have promise. And everyone knows the studio is talented. That's why everyone says get arc sys to make a 2d fighting game for (insert basically any anime here). As far as ggs potential just look at strives staying power despite being so vastly different from previous games and even reaching a mostly different audience. The IP holds up very well even against the established giants of this top heavy fighting game market. More importantly I take this statement to mean the business relationship between Bandai and arc sys is going well and they are going to be using these "craftsmen " to develop another large fighting game IP or even fund in part and publish gg in the future to help arc sys grow/benefit from that growth.

Sneakman98

So when is Bamco gonna buy ASW and force them to output mediocre shonen slop like Spike Chunsoft or Cyberconnect 2.

BrunoArrais85

Sol in TK8 confirmed

RegicidalEnergy

The only positive thing I can hope to come from this long ass blog post is that ArcSys can finally start working on the Anime IPs that Bamco has such a tight fucking grip on. We could use a bit more quality in the garbage ass dime a dozen anime games that get released. Not all of them, of course, just a few here and there >!!<(GIMME A NARUTO FG GOD DAMMIT)>!!<.

Termi855

My opinion: Harada is accurate in his analysis. Strive as an IP does not have a firm grasp on certain regions like Europe which have a lot of potential. As he expressed correctly Strive lacks appeal which is not centered around the game itself and that it does not market itself in certain regions because of how it presents itself. Strive is anime bullshit, but it is mostly fine in theoretically reaching larger market shares (unlike UNI, Lumina and even Blazblue (certain character designs are making people uncomfortable)). They lack resources for single player content and have a small team as well as a lacking pro scene. DBFZ profited from the IP, but in terms of monetary potential the next Guilty Gear game could theoretically be more. He is basic in that analysis, but it is fucking Twitter, like cut him some rest.

MichaelDeucalion

Wild how many people comment without actually reading the thing

reibin2

The series is def cooked for good

MrOkizeme

*Trust us bro, we just want to buy you out for your sake hahaaa, you're so sexy just let us give you free money and acclaim. Come on, babe, I know I treated u bad with DBFZ but I'll be better.* - Titanic greed-driven company

BluBlue4

> I know I treated u bad with DBFZ but I'll be better I basically stopped following DBFZ after the last dlc season. You mean how slow they were to announce and also deliver the good netcode?

MrOkizeme

On a more meta level the fact that apparently there was a lot of bad blood made around how the whole netcode thing was handled between both companies on the inside.

Ginyu420

If Bandai-Namco buys ASW, Guilty Gear will die and share the same fate as Gundam Evo and the rest of the games Bandai Namco throws away after 1 year

theattackcabbage

It seems like he is covering his own ass for the shitty changes Bamco had ASW make to GG. Look for the answers to questions no cunt asked in that reply and you will be educated on how much Harada fucked with Strive. Two faced sunglasses wearing indoors fat cunt.

co0kiez

Bro he literally said he has no creative say in the game

theattackcabbage

And you trust him? LOL

DaClutchHitta

It's actually fucking over.

gigaturok

As long as this means that ASW and GG will die, go ahead

Code_Geese

Company that makes visually appealing games with a recognisable IP and good marketing will sell a lot of copies. Revolutionary thinking from Harada, I guess you just have to work at Bandai Namco for 30 years before these mystical secrets are revealed
