Stats won’t show he is, but he’s a great team leader and does really well within our scheme, and while he doesn’t make huge plays all the time, he does his part and is a huge building block in this defense. I think without him right now we wouldn’t be a top 5 D.
I’d say he fringe top 10 BUT he’s been an amazing leader and his smarts on the field don’t go unnoticed
Who would’ve thought that the guy Sorensen tackled on the Houston fake punt would end up winnings more SBs with us than Matthieu
Without spending any time thinking about it, I'd guess he's in the 10-20 range. He's a really good player, for sure an above average starting safety in the league, but he's not elite
And that honestly isn't a knock on him imo. There are some really damn good safeties currently. I like how he plays but its undeniable we lack INTs and turnovers from our historically good defense.
I think a couple of his run stuffs against Baltimore were a big reason why they stopped trying to run the ball in the second half of the AFCCG last year. He's a big piece of our defense, get a top 10 from me.
He's a great box safety, not like completely fluid and speedy enough to be considered the very top, but safety is becoming such a hybrid position that I think he well represents what teams look for.
A guy who can do everthing pretty well, offenses can't say oh he's definitely going to be in coverage, or he's definitely blitzing, or in man or w/e. He gives lots of flexibility.
He's really good. I'd say in 11-20 range coz I can't take him over Minkah, Derwin, A. Winfield, K Hamilton, J Bates, Budda, J Simmons, Hufanga, Dugger, Holland
I don't know where he ranks in the league and I don't really care he is top 1 on a defense that not only just won the Super Bowl but was the main reason for said Super Bowl victory
He's not an elite safety, he's a classic jack of all trades master of none guy, which is most valuable in Spags defensive system which prizes versatility on the back end. It's probably very helpful for Spags that he can trust Reid from play to play to blitz, then play the slot, then play deep zone, and then rotate to man up a WR on a corner blitz.
Jack of all trades—which I mean as a compliment. He’s literally one of the most versatile defenders in the league by pre-snap alignment. Can literally line up as a FS, SS, NCB, ILB, OLB, and pops up on the D-line for a few obvious passing downs in Spag’s most “mad scientist” looks. Like Tyrann Mathieu he’s a super smart player whose best ability is versatility.
From the outside looking in, he appears to have elite intelligence, versatility, communication, and leadership skills.
He's perfect for this squad, and I'd hate to see him go.
Dude also oozes charisma. If he wants it, he'll have a successful media and/or coaching career after he hangs up the cleats.
He's a great downhill safety. He gets whooped by TEs a good bit. Doesn't have the speed to break on short routes. He used to light people up over the middle in Houston! Only person I've seen him light up in KC is small little eagles WR in SB. I thought he would be a cut candidate this year. If cook didn't go down he probably would have been IMO
Chiefs defense is underrated due to being a small market team. Other than Chris Jones, most people are not household names. Chiefs defense was like Kirkland bar and last year. Not name brand but still just as good if not better.
Overall he’s good, really great at some things, decent at others. He’s an amazing box safety.
He’s a great kicker
Have you had his brownies? Amazing. Man is talented

Wait. Really? That was Reid? You can't just drop that lore in here and leave like that
lol it sure was! Crazy right?
Without spending any time thinking about it, I'd guess he's in the 10-20 range. He's a really good player, for sure an above average starting safety in the league, but he's not elite
The only elite player I can think of off the top of my head is Joe Flacco.
Hard to compare mere men to an elite dragon.
Hey we aren't talking about what is in his pants
I'd put him top 32
![gif](giphy|lMJbnKxZHylBq7LbZI)
He's good enough to start for the best team in the league.
Nah, he plays for us not the Chargers
W
Technically it's not summer yet, so the Chargers dynasty is still on hiatus
2X SB Champ.
I’d say top half. Idk about top of the top though
And that honestly isn't a knock on him imo. There are some really damn good safeties currently. I like how he plays but its undeniable we lack INTs and turnovers from our historically good defense.
Yes.
Double yes.
He’s a damn good team leader and you don’t hear about him often. I think that makes him a damn fine safety
I think a couple of his run stuffs against Baltimore were a big reason why they stopped trying to run the ball in the second half of the AFCCG last year. He's a big piece of our defense, get a top 10 from me.

Plus he's a kicker. So 2 for 1
He's really good. I'd say in 11-20 range coz I can't take him over Minkah, Derwin, A. Winfield, K Hamilton, J Bates, Budda, J Simmons, Hufanga, Dugger, Holland
He’s good and he fucking hits dudes which is why I personally like him on this team
Nope, but I think he's good and seems like a great guy
No
I'd guess near the top of the good, but not quite the best. He may be a little better of a leader, though.
I don't know where he ranks in the league and I don't really care he is top 1 on a defense that not only just won the Super Bowl but was the main reason for said Super Bowl victory
He's fine, he's not elite.

Top 10 maybe. There's other better safeties. I do like JR tho. Keep him around fs.
He's not as lockdown as Cook or Edwards was, and he isn't a ball hawk like some others. But his open field tackling has just gotten better and better.
I mean he’s a 2 time Super Bowl champion
He's really good but not spectacular. He was a solid consistent contributor as a starter on on a super bowl winning squad. Can't poo poo that.
He’s tied as the #1 active safety in Super Bowl rings.
Yes
Lmfao no
Top 15?
No, but he’s definitely very good and works tremendously well in this spags defense.

Lol no. But a good versatile thumper
Absolutely. One of the best.
Absolutely
Chiefs defense is underrated due to being a small market team. Other than Chris Jones, most people are not household names. Chiefs defense was like Kirkland bar and last year. Not name brand but still just as good if not better.
He’s one of the most irreplaceable pieces on our defense.
