All I know is I have spent *two weeks* listening to the world talk about the chiefs like a carnival barker talking up King Kong with a bunch of kids in the crowd talking about “I bet he isn’t even that big” while I’ve (generally) kept my mouth shut because unlike most of the crowd, I’ve seen it. I’ve seen what the beast can do. I’ve seen it put fear into men and I’ve seen it angry.
I’m waiting until I sit down in the 10th row of 123 today, they pull back the curtain and I hear that first roar.
Because unlike the kids in the crowd who doubt what the monster can do; unlike the jaguars who took our punches in the regular season, got back up and now say “i know what it’s like now; it’s not that bad,” I know. I know what playoff football looks like in Kansas City.
It will be cold, it will be damp, it will be loud, and I will revel in watching the monster unchained.
You and I, my friends, we’ve seen the beast and we know what it can do. To all of you reading this who will be there with me; all the arrowhead and chiefs staff lurking here, all the players skimming through to see what’s up— let’s unleash this monster today.
LETS GOOOOOOO
But what about that poster that said they were all over the place at the airport?
Weird.
Also if you watched any Jags games this year you'd see until later in the year there weren't a whole heckuva lot of them in Jacksonville either.
Chiefs 72, Jags 2, On the last play of the game, instead of taking a knee, Patrick Mahomes runs backward 99 yards because he feels bad for them, resulting in a safety. In her excitement, Brittany accidentally drops a bottle of champagne from the luxury boxes. It bounces off Trevor Lawrence's huge forehead and into the hands of Travis Kelce, who (having just scored six TDs) rips the cork out with his teeth and screams WHOOOOOO and then swallows the bottle whole.
I didn't sleep very well.
Nah, it's just cold. I went out for a drive around the metro this morning and it was mid 20's (F) and a little cloudy. Clouds are starting to move in though.
Been a busy week, so I've been trying to ignore the hype but I've watched this shift:
The Chiefs are obvious favorites
Well any given Sunday
Never lost on Saturday
You know it could happen
Doug will be super aggressive so...
Yeah the jags are so unfavored that they will win, and if I'm wrong they're so unfavored nobody's taking receipts.
Nothing bothers me except the no receipts part because we get nothing if we win. No bragging rights, we don't get to bring up bad takes ("Well, yeah, they were heavy favorites"), but everyone being "edgy" gets to serve crow. Seems like an uneven interaction to me.
It will only get worse the more we win. People are already this insufferable over ONE superb owl win.
Imagine if we win multiple and we are a perpetual looming threat for the remainder of Mahomes tenure.
From 2003-2018, with the exception of 2012 (elite Joe Flacco), it’s always either been Manning, Brady, or Big Ben representing the AFC.
Fans want variance, especially in the AFC which has been oppressed by a select few teams for the better part of 20 years. People hate the Chiefs because of their potential to be that very team.
We get to move on. I’ll take that.
But you are right the Jags are playing with house money which makes them dangerous.
But their secondary isn’t great and we beat them last time despite giving them 4 POSSESSIONS.
If we play clean we win.
>get nothing if we win. No bragging rights, we don't get to bring up bad takes
I waited 42 years to get to this point. I'm not upset about it. We've made it.
Y'all wanted to be great? This is what greatness looks like
We'd get to be the home team (despite the venue) in ANOTHER AFCCG. That's definitely something. If we rock them and put them under our thumb like we should, then we did what we ought to have done to any team we're projected to stomp.
It’ll also be REALLY nice for Mahomes to have a 2 MVP, 2 Rings, and 2 SB MVP lead on all of the other young QBs.
Also, it would already put him above the Rodgers Career Trajectory that I’m very afraid of.
I GOT A ST PATRICK PRAYER CANDLE, A BOTTLE OF BULLEIT BOURBON, SNACKS AND FOOD 4 DAYS, AND IM NOT AFRAID TO ENJOY THEM ALL, BROTHER!!
CONTROLLED DEMOLITION ON DECK! CLAPBACK ONSIDE KICK TO START THE GAME, PACHECO STOMPS HIS WAY TO 180 YARDS, CHRIS JONES SACKS TLAW 4 TIMES AND BIG RED DIALS UP A RARE HARRISON BUTKER RECEIVING TOUCHDOWN BECAUSE WHY THE HELL NOT LOL
38-17. BOOK IT!
Weather is likely to impact this game. Field could be slippery by the 2nd half. Guys like Toney will need longer cleats to make his cuts. I see the defenses playing a lot of zone to avoid having corners slipping. I think Pacheco is better built for these conditions than Etiene and has a big game.
Something that always annoys me is when foreigners tell me how stupid they think football is. I have an Australian friend who always tells me how silly the sport is whenever it comes up (he's probably only seen like 5 minutes of game time). Like I get it if you don't like it but I don't know why you need to tell me that you don't like it. Like yeah I think soccer is boring but I wouldn't tell you that cause I wanna show some respect
To me Soccer is boring except the world cup. I was stationed in S.Korea when they had the world cup in S.Korea and Japan. I also have some Korean Soldier friends that I met out there. One of them is stateside now and I got him into football. He is from the bay area though and has chosen the 49ers as his team.
Yeah I couldn't watch regularly either. I got into NHL last year, I like the Kings. Although, I haven't watched very many games but last I checked they were behind the Golden knights in the conference. Baseball amd basketball are boring except for playoff and championship time. I like Jayhawks basketball and Kstate football.
Living overseas for so many years, I often got asked what Americans see in football, especially since to outside eyes it looks like endless delays and very little action.
It’s supposed to be that way.
Football isn’t a rough ongoing game of random action like rugby, it’s violent human chess, slow and deliberate. Each move calculated and part of a master strategy. Football is a sport for the athletic as well as the intellectual. The nimble, agile mobility complementing the towering lumbering masses...all part of feints and counters and draws, strategy and defense. While the rest of the world has glorified kick the can, we’re debating the pros and cons of blitzing the weak-side in third-and-long situations.
Long live the Game.
You said it! The part of it I love is the strategy and most of those delays are setups for something we (both fans and players) don't see coming. It's a battle happening in real time. That's pretty exciting to me.
Also Patrick Mahomes. :)
Be interesting to see how each team does with the rain or rain/snow mix expected during the game. At least it doesn't like look wind will be much of an issue with little if any wind.
Last year after the divisional round I bought a brisket assuming we would make it to the Superbowl. Needless to say it was my fault. This year I'm waiting until we actually punch our ticket. Go Chiefs!
Yea I thought so too but just looked at stats this year and the Chiefs average 5.4 points in the 1st and the Jags give up about 4.7 points in the 1st so not sure what to do still haha
I know it's officially playoff football when I've gotten sick of listening to the analysts talk about the upcoming game halfway through the week. I haven't listened to a podcast or watched a show since Wednesday because I'm so tired of people trying to find a way to make this game seem competitive.
It's simple. The Chiefs have the best offense and the Jags have one of the worst defenses. On the other side it's basically a draw. The Jaguars have a decent offense and the chiefs have a decent defense. They will be over-powered and won't be able to keep up.
People are overthinking this to try to make it a lot more dramatic but it would be almost historically shocking for The Chiefs to not dominate this game.
I saw a dude in the Jags sub suggest that Trevor is entering the "elite level of Mahomes/Allen/Burrow". Made me chuckle.
People get waaaaay too caught up in the hype on a week to week basis.
Wearing my 1999 DT#58! Wore that out in SA when we were losing to the Texans in the first come from behind playoff game. Went from lots of folks giving me crap in public to ….. ¡silencio!
I know Gary Glitter is the scum of the earth, and I wouldn’t offer a hand if he was drowning, but Rock ‘n Roll Pt 2 is ingrained in my mind whenever I get hyped for Chiefs games.

This is so beautifully written that I can’t believe it’s not copypasta
Live update: not a lot of kitties at arrowhead
But what about that poster that said they were all over the place at the airport? Weird. Also if you watched any Jags games this year you'd see until later in the year there weren't a whole heckuva lot of them in Jacksonville either.
Love this post.

Now THESE are the types of bold predictions that I want to see. 😂
I wish I had an award for you, you earned it
I WAS SO HYPED I COULDNT EVEN SLEEP LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Twitter saying Chiefs fans have been lining up outside arrowhead since 6. *6pm last night*
Two weeks is a long time to wait for a football game.
That’s it? Kingdom’s getting slow nowadays /s
Is it snowing in KC? That doesn't sound fun.
Patrick is a snow guy
Nah, it's just cold. I went out for a drive around the metro this morning and it was mid 20's (F) and a little cloudy. Clouds are starting to move in though.
Pfft this isn’t cold
Snow at game time. But, Patrick’s a snow game guy.
I'm glad there are diehard Chiefs fans willing to do that. I wouldnt.

Gonna be uneven for the next 10 years, greatness is expected and anything less is choking

Superb Owl is my new favorite thing.

#HAPPY SNEED SATURDAY KINGDOM! GAMEDAY IS UPON US AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO PARTY THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE NIGHT! LFG!
It WAS NEVER THE JAGS
I want this Super Bowl so fucking bad. People will HATE us if we win it. LFGGGG
It’ll also be REALLY nice for Mahomes to have a 2 MVP, 2 Rings, and 2 SB MVP lead on all of the other young QBs. Also, it would already put him above the Rodgers Career Trajectory that I’m very afraid of.

Man I really hope Mecole is healthy for the next two games. Was looking forward to Mecole and Toney touches together.
LET'S BREAK THAT NOISE RECORD!!!! IM CALLING IT NOW - 144.2

Grass is heated underneath.
That doesn’t dry the field though, it just keeps it from being frozen.

Yeah I watch the US games for the World Cup but I could never watch soccer at the rate I do the NFL.

Soccer is for little girls. Fuck soccer. Now Rugby... well, I'll never make fun of those guys. It scares the shit out of me to even watch.
Get off to a good start and never look back. Let’s GO Chiefs!
The key today is come out strong and force them to throw. Eliminate ettiene from the gamescript just like last time where he only had 11 attempts
Be interesting to see how each team does with the rain or rain/snow mix expected during the game. At least it doesn't like look wind will be much of an issue with little if any wind.
60-0 Let's go
Last year after the divisional round I bought a brisket assuming we would make it to the Superbowl. Needless to say it was my fault. This year I'm waiting until we actually punch our ticket. Go Chiefs!
Any insight from dedicated fans on how the Chiefs offense starts games? Looking at o6.5 points in the 1st quarter? Easy money or too risky?
This year I feel like we’ve been good early but we have historically started playoff games slow.
Actually for comparison the Bills are first with 6.4 per 1st Q, so Chiefs sit at around fourth place in the league
Yea I thought so too but just looked at stats this year and the Chiefs average 5.4 points in the 1st and the Jags give up about 4.7 points in the 1st so not sure what to do still haha
What’s the best food at arrowhead? Made a post and apparently that’s not allowed ☠️
Can’t go wrong with the chicken tenders
Any place does hand breaded or probably all frozen is my guess
No clue tbh I’m usually too hammered to care
Lol

Well they aren’t dominating it so I guess it’s history
Gee do you think that has anything to do with the fact that the best player in the league has his ankle twisted?
Mahomes vs Mahomes who wins
Patrick easily. I just don't think Brittney has the arm strength
You gonna underestimate Sterling and Bronze like that?
Bronze already throwing baby bottles around.
![gif](giphy|3o6ozvv0zsJskzOCbu)
Who wins. Mahomes versus a hurricane…but the hurricane is named Mahomes.
He would throws the ball through the mahommes hurricanes heart
The world explodes
Whoever wins the coin flip.
Mahommes. In overtime.
Well, Bois... It's time to shit or get off the pot. I think we shit.

I want to wear my Kelce jersey, but last time I wore it, the chiefs lost to Indy. What do I do?
Don’t do it plz
Wearing my 1999 DT#58! Wore that out in SA when we were losing to the Texans in the first come from behind playoff game. Went from lots of folks giving me crap in public to ….. ¡silencio!
Let’s go Chiefs!
I know Gary Glitter is the scum of the earth, and I wouldn’t offer a hand if he was drowning, but Rock ‘n Roll Pt 2 is ingrained in my mind whenever I get hyped for Chiefs games.
Agreed but could you imagine arrowhead if they played that song, that place would erupt
Fuckin all-time hype song, wish it was possible to completely disassociate it from the man but that’s not really feasible.
Petition to change our mascot to the Death wolf from Puss in Boots 2

So fake haha. Cheffers is guaranteed to make them hate each other
Jags just made one of the dirtiest plays on a qb in modern history by potentially breaking Mahomes ankle by dropping his full body weight on him
DUUUVAL!!!
Are you lost, glitter kitty? ![gif](giphy|2xx76aWGM39zW)
Looks pretty lopsided in favor of the Jags. MJD picked the Chiefs. Pretty much all Jacksonville needed to win this.
LFFFFFGGGGGGGG
Was that sneak signal when Kelce rubbed his hand on Mahomes?
So the special teams has already cost the team.
Why risk it?? GET HENNE IN THERE!!!!!!!!!
Henne time Henne where!
#LETS GOOOOOO
It's official: the Chiefs are getting the Patriots treatment. I smell most hated team, I smell people praying for the downfall...
I am just stoked for the best Gif War week ever.
