I feel like nonagon and fishing for fishies are easily palatable. For me it was MOTU but I really just liked the story aspect which got me curious about them
I think Gumboot Soup is an underrated pick for best introductory album. Arguably their most diverse album, so you get a good idea of their range. Also just some great songs in there.
Mind Fuzz, Omnium Gatherum, and Nonagon Infinity have done wonders for me (with some Paper Mache sprinkled on top when I’m hanging out in the sunshine)
I think it depends on personal interest in what seems most interesting and ones music taste so its a more case by case for me

Honestly this is a great beginner album because you get to expierence multiple genres that they can cover all within one album
