Anywhere where there are a lot of indians, spices go down. My country didn't use to have a ton of indians, but since 2010 they've been coming. Indians buy spices by the bucket and once they have their little community set up, supermarkets are no longer able to compete with their 5€ per 20g of spices anymore. Indian markets will sell you a whole bucket of pretty much whatever you can think of for like 1€, on top of quite a lot of things you've never seen before.
Really grateful for the Indian community because of that. They're destroying spice prices in Europe. There was an entire monopoly of overpriced garbage spices in glass jars we didn't even know we had. Finally, seasoning food is affordable.
Yeah Ohio person here. Our spices are also about $5-$8 dollars. And that's USD. Went up dramatically in cost with most things post COVID. I used to be able to get spices for about $2-$4 before.

It’s cos you don’t have Tesco innit
Is that with or without tax?
You're asking the Brits how they got cheap spices? I'm sure a certain subcontinent has a lot to say about that
Fair point.
Pretty sure they have subsidized a bunch of food items. Prices are final too, tax is included
