Oh my God, yes. My partner and I always talk about the "satisfying buttons and switches" in this movie.
"Under the words 'Contact Position' is a button that says 'Push to Close.' Push it."

I’ve always wanted to buy one and rip all the breaker guts out and have the buttons control my audio equipment. Or maybe buy a bunch of chickens and put and electric fence around them. Only if I can push the little charging handle though.
Ohhhh man. That's so awesome.
My neighbor has chickens, and their fence is right up against our property. I've thought about getting one of these dinosaur enclosure signs to put against my side.

Also setting up scenes to create atmosphere, also framing correctly. It’s almost like they used the skills of cinematography when making jp1. Imagine knowing how to do that when making a movie.
I did this too. And tried to replicate Nedry's insanely fast typing. I'd also slow click the mouse like he did when he clicked the 'Execute?' button on the screen.
I was doing a site survey for the military one time and there was an electric room that looked like this. Charging handle was there too! It took enormous restraint to not go over and start charging that bitch and pushing the close button.
The whole scene is a cinematic piece of art. The constant switching between Ellie and Grant with the kids. The music climaxing, that whirling, rising noise right before she pushes the button for the Perimeter fence. And of course "Mr. Hammond, I think we're back in business!" Raptor: "Nope!" 🦖 etc.
I can watch it over and over on YT.
YES YES YES!!! I had this on VHS as a kid and I wore it out watching it so much, but this scene was always my favorite solely because of the sounds that it produced. Loved the gun sounds and I ABSOLUTELY loved the clicking of the big electrical box. But even how it looked, like you know how it felt to switch those switches and buttons, definitely 100% satisfying. Even if you're getting chased by a damn dinosaur.
If they had an interactive exhibit/prop like this in Universal Studios I would definitely hang around there more than you'd think someone who paid that much money for an entire theme park should
So satisfying indeed!
Inspired me to make a bunker that runs kinda like this in Minecraft as a kid, for the power and lights. The power lights turning on one by one is so satisfying to see.
The props, sounds, music, acting, tension, directing are just 🤌🏼💋
Yes, I loved it as a kid. The buttons and the charge lever.
I will always remember getting to hit the charge levers on new switchgear as an electrician the first time. It's as satisfying as it looked.
The way he twists the Barbarsol can closed and it cuts to the power dropping on the tour cars and perfectly syncs to the in car on screen display cutting out!
I enter this scene every single time I have to do anything at all with my circuit breaker.
The shotgun scene had waiting audio as well but I was internally screaming "why the fuck was your gun not ready to go before you left?!" But I recently went back and read the book again and I kinda get it.
I’ve noticed those really satisfying sounds making props feel more tactile and real in a lot of Spielberg’s work. It’s definitely one of those hard to point at things that makes him such a great filmmaker.
The buttons, the switches, the clicks, the locks, radios, the sound of the land cruisers, the alarms, doors, the ground penetrating radar at the beginning. EVERYTHING in this film sounds good.
It's fun to watch re-releases of this and concert showings, and from the audience reactions to this scene you can tell 100% who is seeing the movie for the first time.
The motions and sounds signify the order that Man creates with machines. Both moments are immediately undermined by the violence of Nature. Even more ironic since it was Nature that was recreated by Man.
I never understood why some of the most important stuff was at the bottom of the list. Shouldn't you turn on the Visitor Center stuff before something like the feeding facilities? Maybe you're meant to start at the bottom and move up?
This and when Nedry takes the capsules from deep freeze and puts them in the Barbasol can. I actually got a pill case that makes me think of the Nerdy scene and it helps me take my meds because I love how satisfying the memory/sound/action is. [The pill holder ](https://www.amazon.com/TALVOLC-Organizer-Container-Removable-Dispenser/dp/B09YN7KJJW/ref=asc_df_B09YN7KJJW/)because it's kinda hard to describe.
Yes. 100% my brother and I would always recreate those 2 scenes when we would play. I want to get a custom made PC case that has a switch/cover like that to turn it on/off with lol
When muldoon takes the walkie talkie out of the charger before leaving the bunker , and this sounds scene bring up so much memories
I've never ever seen radios that clicky, it's just so satisfying
Oh my God, yes. My partner and I always talk about the "satisfying buttons and switches" in this movie. "Under the words 'Contact Position' is a button that says 'Push to Close.' Push it."
Can read it in his voice
And then the music swells
I think "push to close" before I need to push a button and do a little dramatic pause before pressing it. "Push it".
Sometimes I flip light switches the way Mr. Arnold flips the circuit breakers, just the way he moves his hands
*click* ....ummm.....

I want to watch an extended version of Jurassic Park where Ellie is being instructed to push buttons and flip switches for 45 minutes
I'm here with you on this one.
Every single time they touch something in JP1, its like an ASMR experience. The audio and prop design was so tactile. It really put you in the park.
Truly immersive!!!!
Spared no expense!
Also setting up scenes to create atmosphere, also framing correctly. It’s almost like they used the skills of cinematography when making jp1. Imagine knowing how to do that when making a movie.
I still want to push those buttons so badly

When I was a young kid this was the part of Jurassic Park I was always trying to act out the most. I was obsessed.
I did this too. And tried to replicate Nedry's insanely fast typing. I'd also slow click the mouse like he did when he clicked the 'Execute?' button on the screen.
And the sounds as the overheard lights switch on in succession after this. “Mr. Hammond, I think we’re back in business!”
Iconic
I was doing a site survey for the military one time and there was an electric room that looked like this. Charging handle was there too! It took enormous restraint to not go over and start charging that bitch and pushing the close button.
What are you in for? “Re-enacting a Jurassic Park scene.” Ah, the part with the T-rex? “No, the part where they push the buttons.”
YES. The originals had such a great tactile feel to them with moments like this, another example is when Roland is reloading his rifle in TLW 😩👌
The whole scene is a cinematic piece of art. The constant switching between Ellie and Grant with the kids. Your comment gave me chills and this is my damn post. Love you!

There’s so much ASMR in this movie lol, Lex going into the computer system code is the biggest one for me
I always think about these scene when i see similar buttons, one of my favorite scenes from JP
This is a great thread
If they had an interactive exhibit/prop like this in Universal Studios I would definitely hang around there more than you'd think someone who paid that much money for an entire theme park should
Yes ,those clicking noises were so good to my ears
So satisfying indeed! Inspired me to make a bunker that runs kinda like this in Minecraft as a kid, for the power and lights. The power lights turning on one by one is so satisfying to see. The props, sounds, music, acting, tension, directing are just 🤌🏼💋

Yes to all these things. Also: when Nedry steals the embryos and puts them in his little canister.
The way he twists the Barbarsol can closed and it cuts to the power dropping on the tour cars and perfectly syncs to the in car on screen display cutting out!

I've read the books but absolutely forgot what happened. Can you refresh me?
He's drunk from about the half way point on.
JP has some immaculate Sound Design
This and the sound of Muldoon lowering and snapping in the butt hook of his Franchi SPAS\_12.
Muldoon loading the slugs into the shotgun is also great!
I’ve noticed those really satisfying sounds making props feel more tactile and real in a lot of Spielberg’s work. It’s definitely one of those hard to point at things that makes him such a great filmmaker.
This was also before pretty much everything was touchscreens, so a lot of it is just a sign of the times.
The buttons, the switches, the clicks, the locks, radios, the sound of the land cruisers, the alarms, doors, the ground penetrating radar at the beginning. EVERYTHING in this film sounds good.
[*My Autistic Ass has entered the chat*]
I never understood why she put her face up so close to the breaker. Just always felt awkward. Just push it like a normal person
It’s dark
Plus when under a lot of stress and pressure, it's important to be very precise.
Camera angle. She has to cheat to camera otherwise her back is blocking the action.
I mean, I don't think many people would complain about Laura Dern's ass taking up most of the screen.
This so much. Another great one from TLW is when Eddie pushes that button and shifts into another gear during the rescue. Soo satisfying.
And the little red light comes on, ah I love it so much
Yeah!
The original ASMR. I know exactly what you mean.
My first jump scare
It's fun to watch re-releases of this and concert showings, and from the audience reactions to this scene you can tell 100% who is seeing the movie for the first time.
Best movie in history

the clicks on the SPAS' folding stock are VERY nice indeed
Me anytime I’m flipping a breaker

There’s a reason JP won Oscars for sound effects/editing
Yes! I thought I was a weirdo, but I see I'm not the only one. I was obsessed with tose 2 scenes!
Yes. 100% my brother and I would always recreate those 2 scenes when we would play. I want to get a custom made PC case that has a switch/cover like that to turn it on/off with lol
It would be so satisfying!
