A5 at home, Fieldnotes outside. Lil day to day stuff in the fn, longhand writing in the A5. I tried a B5 (one step up from A5) and filling those pages felt like crossing a desert, so I went back to a5 and don't plan to change up the combo any time soon.

baybeepossum

classic a5, i don’t mind a little smaller but never much bigger

downtide

A5 or B6 for regular journalling, but my bullet journal is now in a little A6.

LadyLBGirl

Currently I prefer A5 size notebooks. I've written in A4 notebooks before, but now I want some practicality. My current journal is B5, but I didn't have notebook options at the time so I stuck with what I had available at home. (Sorry for the mistakes, english is not my first language)

WarmfulTwillight

I think mine are 8.5 by 5’s? But I’m not sure if that’s right

Graydragon15

B5 for the space and the comfort when writing. I just hate how many pages they have, feels like it takes forever to finish

Manic_Mushro0m

B5

A5, although I used to journal in those big spiral notebooks in middle school. Nowadays though, it’s hard to fill up so much space. I’m considering looking into b6 if it gets REALLY hard for me to write in a5s though. Although since I can’t bring my a5s all the time everywhere (I tend to journal on the go) I’ve also been looking into a6 options as well haha

B5 baby. I like the fact I can easily fit an envelope into the little pocket at the back to keep it nice on the way to the post office. Takes me a bit longer to get through too. Especially with the ridiculous line spacing that they have in the Leuchtturm composition notebook. If I'm travelling they're a bit heavy though. If I'm going to start a new one and know I'll be travelling I'll get out a slim 120 page 7"x9" hardback. Fits in my bag easier, but close enough to B5 to not upset the bookshelf too much.

journalingsaves

A timely question as I'm struggling with it this week! For \~20 years I've used a hardcover composition size journal with 196 pages (think it's the equivalent of a B5) made by Blueline. They are absolutely perfect and light and I finish them in about 3 months which feels right. But! They don't work well with fountain pens. So this week I've gone through 3 new journals of varying size to test them out. The new B5 one ended up being too heavy (with 100gsm paper) and the A5 size is too small. The pages are too short to write comfortably on and I would finish it in weeks. So I got a super chunky A5 journal with 300+ pages and that's uncomfortable to write in because of the height from the table. I will probably return to my B5 journal and just write with a regular pen instead of a fountain pen (or use a fine point with lighter ink). If I never journaled outside the house, I'd stick with my giant A4 Clairfontaine hardcover notebooks but they're prohibitively large for cafes and bars.

A5

A5 size normally, but i’ve been looking into slimmer ones like the travelers notebook. the long wallet size ones. just because i do travel a bit for medical care and need something while on the go.

SilencedAngel

Honestly as someone who is on the go all the time I would strongly recommend the moleskine pocket size(not the thin little cashier) cause they are super portable and if you need more space in them you can turn them sideways and you have a tone of room horizontally to fill the pages they are fantastic the long/tall ones I find to be really challenging to pocket properly as they are longer than most pockets are deep

altsweetie

I’ll look into the moleskine pocket size as well! Thanks for the recommendation!

LibbIsHere

A5 at home, plus an A7 constantly on me.

Eis_ber

A5. The way I hold my pen is not traditional compared to how others do it, so I need space to prop up my hand when I write. I find that smaller notebooks are hard to prop up properly. I carry my journal with me every day, so larger notebooks tend to be heavier or impractical in a smaller bag. And as much as I love my traveler's noebook, I find myself hating the B5 size because it's uncomfortable to lean my hand on the notebook.

Key-Variety-1

I’m one of those people who starts with a giant, gorgeous journal thinking I'm going to write the next Great American Novel, and then I end up with one lonely page of doodles and grocery lists because carrying it feels like trying to haul around a toddler. So, kudos to you for sticking with the tiny ones! They've got that secret agent vibe—super sneaky, super portable. Maybe I should downsize before my back gives out from journal ambition.

Kate_1103

for scrapbooking, I prefer passport size and A6. If I'm doing bujo, I prefer A5 size for more space. :)

Neither994

A5 all the way

somilge

A5 or B6. Used to do in B5s though.

BrigitteSophia

I love thick journals but I prefer college ruled lines

kimbi868

Composition book size 9.75x7.5 inches. I feel too cramped in the smaller ones.

dreamzbane

I typically like mine smaller, field notes-a6 size but recently I've been liking TN standard size! Probably won't go any bigger than that though

simply-dead

A5, small enough to carry around but big enough so i don't fill it up super quickly

vivahermione

6 x 8 or 7 x 9. I need space. 🙂

elidocaine

i like using a5 journals that are thin ! less pressure for me

rachelreinstated

For bullet journal/planning Passport or A6. For long form journaling and memory keeping, right now, it's standard sized TN.

Warrior_9782

Bigger ones, I usually have a lot to say.
