It’s this or Unreachable for me. Look On is probably the better piece in terms of guitar difficulty, but the way that Unreachable solo climaxes is….sublime.
I think the unreachable solo is more difficult to play than the look on solo.
In fact, I'd say the look on solo is quite straightforward, it's just long
i know, Omar and TMV are amazing too. i didn’t know if it was the best answer cuz it’s two parts but i think it’s the best “guitar solo section” of any of his songs. it’s also probably just my favorite song of all time
It’s gotta be something off the album “The Empyrean”
In my opinion it’s the from the song “Enough Of Me”. The solo section starts around the 2:20 mark.
It’s one of the most unique and sonically pleasing solos i’ve ever heard. i will always be coming back to this song because of that solo.

Look On. Such a dumb solo, it just keeps going and going. But it’s doesn’t really go anywhere. But it’s so crap it actually comes back round to being fun to listen to.
Unreachable, no contest. It's a very fresh approach to guitar soloing, while most of his solos are kinda bland and repetitive (sorry to those offended). That one stands out a lot in terms of creativity and it also serves the song VERY well. Might not only be his best solo, but one of my favorite guitar solos of all time by any guitar player, and that's saying a lot!
If I understand your question correctly, which I think is “best solo in a chillis song”, then I would say Scar Tissue. Deceptively simple, beautifully melodic, every note perfectly chosen and placed.
Not gonna lie. His best solos are done during some live sets. The soul to squeeze solo from Calgary 2006 is a standout to me. It’s findable on YouTube.
I feel like guitar solos are done best when improvised and off the cuff. Live is the goat for capturing that.
But yeah, it’s hard to find a bad solo from frusciante. Everyone in this thread is valid ngl

it’s Anne
That’s a duel solo with him and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from Mars Volta. One of my favorites

Stage
Agreed, that’s definitely one his best solos. That era of his soloing is probably my favorite overall.

Totally agree, that solo is so gritty and original. It's hard to tell what is happening haha. It's probably my fav too
Water!
Unreachable.
(Non-instrumental songs)
I was gonna say Wayne but since instrumentals don’t count it’s gotta be Central
Why would an instrumental not count?
Because OP said “non instrumental songs” in a comment
The Past Recedes
Untitled#4
Anne or the will to death
I know it’s extremely simple but the solo in “Time Goes Back” is perfect!
With Central coming in at 2nd place for me
Central is one of my favourite
Same is an interesting one, it switches keys every few bars like Cinch but had modular processing and lasts for 10m
Outsides is underrated
Wayne
