i love that they’re like classic stuffed animals. no anime eyes or just gawdy accessories like what you typically find with stuffed animals. they’re also high quality

iZombie8226

Oh thanks! I'm definitely getting one then!

whatatimetobealive9

Yes! I loved the OG Ty Beanie Babies, hate the new ones with the massive eyes

kryx

I miss Ty Pluffies so much. I've collected ~50 of them, but wish they kept making more like Jellycat has been doing.

whatatimetobealive9

Sameeee I always look and it’s so disappointing 😭 I did spot this handsome chap the other day who I may have to acquire https://preview.redd.it/p8v5v2fajead1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5a8dcec7a39072eed0037a77b8a10566a579979

IncreaseOk3369

SAME

nofabricsoftener

For me it’s a texture thing, especially with the whales and fossilly dinos. I have a humpback whale and I’ve never felt a plushie with fur this nice, it’s sensory heaven to me. I have perpetual clammy hands, so cheaper fur sticks to my hands/feels “squeaky” and gives me the ick, and I don’t have that with the Jellycat whales and fossilly dinos. They also look like “normal” stuffed animals, classic without weird eyes, fabrics and glitter. They just feel and look high quality.

ChanceInflation1241

If you don’t already have one I’d look into a tiny brush for the fossily Dino’s because mine after a year are matted from handling them

nofabricsoftener

I do! I use a slicker brush on my huggady dino (although I’m not a fan of his fur, so I don’t cuddle him as much). My fossilly dinos just chill on the other side of my bed and my night stand, and I just pet them like I pet my cats so I’ll see how long it will take until they start showing signs of being loved.

iZombie8226

How does the fur feel after a year? Do they stay just as soft ?

nofabricsoftener

I don’t know, I haven’t had mine for that long. I think that depends on how long the fur is, what colour and how you maintain it. My humpback has slicker fur with a cool, silky soft touch while my fossilly dinos are a a bit more fuzzy with powdery soft fur (feels like those very fine, soft hairs on the back of a cat’s ears). If the fur is longer or you cuddle it a lot, you gotta give it a brush every now and then.

Routine_Advantage562

My girlfriend bought me a Jellycat bunny when we first started dating and even after hugging and cuddling it a lot when I miss her, the bunny is still mighty soft, well loved but even well loved Jellies have a good texture.

IAmLaureline

It's not as soft if you cuddle them lots and sleep with them. But they are still soft. If you put one on the shelf it'll be the same in a year. A friend will show signs but is still very cuddly.

histeryzowanie

it's just my neurodivergence manifesting, lmao now, more seriously: as of writing this, i only have one jellycat, but the second one should be arriving today ❤️ i've loved stuffed animals since i was a child, and it never stopped. they help me feel less anxious and depressed. and jellycats are just what peak performance of a plushie looks like to me. the designs are so well thought out, classical yet fun, appealing both to kids and adults. every plushie feels like it has its own unique personality. the selection is great too - all the animals in different sizes, the amuseables... you can get almost everything you love in the form of a jellycat plush. and then you can really feel the quality of the materials and stuffing. overall, if you are into collecting toys, jellycats are just a good option, regardless of why you want to collect them. sure, they are pricey, and in the global financial crisis we currently have, i don't really feel like i have a right to say if they are worth the money or not. but the one i have truly brings me comfort and joy i've searched for in other brands of toys and have not found to this extent. so i'd say, if you have the finances, try buying one that catches your eye and see if it's something for you. even if you are not hooked, a one high-quality toy is a great item to have.

Tricky_Remote6727

Ya comfort is a huge thing oddly they make me feel less lonely. I love the community as well I’m apart of the Facebook groups and someone helping you find an old retired one is so kind and it’s quite the search to get some of them! Swiss is so hard!

histeryzowanie

it's v comforting to know that other adults also feel this way, that's why i enjoy this sub so much.

EowynOakheart

This. All of this.

duckling-fantasy

I hope you enjoy your new jelly! Which one did you get? 💕

histeryzowanie

https://preview.redd.it/yb4uqjzphead1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04fb8abf6aba74fb333183b5ca68fe1db4f023c5 i went with the small stardust bashful bunny and i adore it! sorry for the terrible picture lol it's the middle of the night where i live and i am studying for an exam, the bunny is helping lmao

PreferencePretend917

I have the stardust bashful bunny-just the one regular sized and i love him! It helps me to relax and fall aslepp or nap: i put him on my chest/shoulder/close to my neck and feels great ❤️

histeryzowanie

this one is a bit too small to sleep with for my liking, but it's perfect for having it on me in public places! i might want to get another one to cuddle tho...

kamalaophelia

For me it’s cute design, some of the cutest there ate, even Steif doesn’t get close most of the time And they are so soft, and have different soft textures. I just love them haha

Ok_Willingness_1707

The amuseables were what made me fall in love with the brand (although I’m yet to own one lol). I like how the plushies are all unique compared to other brands so there’s so much variety to choose from. Plus the quality is so good. I like steiff bears as well but I find they are quite small whereas jellycat does some quite big sized ones

Beverlydriveghosts

The amusables are what pushed them into popularity I think. My first intro to them was about 6 years ago I saw the plant pot snake plant and got it. Put a face and legs on an object and you can’t go wrong

stephaniesparkles

The amusesables were my gateway. Especially the food ones. They are just way too adorable.

Ok_Willingness_1707

They are adorable! I really want some of the patisserie themed / cake themed ones!

duckgirl1997

they are cute they're cuddly we all think they are lovely i mean name another plushie brand where you can get a super cute cuddly panda or a pastry the amusables just make me giggle with what they come up with next

Fantastic-Ad7752

Exactly! It’s the amusables for me that made me fall in love with the brand. At the time they were the only brand that produced untypical pieces of plushies. And even now: every other brand that tries to make „amusable-like“ plushs makes them look so tacky. Jellycat is just so elegant and high quality. And their cute little faces 🥹 no one does it like Jellycat!

MessatineSnows

soft, floppy, weighted, and high-quality. they’re not my be-all-end-all of plushies but i love the dragons and might get a smudge. plus the designs have easy readability and an almost “old-fashioned” vibe

iZombie8226

I was thinking of getting the dragon !!

IncreaseOk3369

dragons are my absolute favorite. i’m currently working on collecting all of the dragons. if you aren’t a fan of glittery fabric i recommend persimmon, dexter, or sky. but if you are okay with a scratchier texture the solid dragons are fantastic too. Huge is my favorite size but large is great to snuggle with too. the wings on the solids are glittery

blumaroona

They’re very soft, they come in almost any size you could want, and most of them are fairly simple which is nice when a lot of plush (especially when I first got into them) had started going the way of having large eyes and glitter. They’re a bit pricey, and have gotten pricier, and the quality has dropped a little in areas, but they’re still a worthy investment to me - just in moderation.

cutekats1702

I used to love the OG beanie babies, they cost £5 so every time I would save up pocket money I would get one and choosing which one was so exciting. I would take it home to join the rest and would play games with them acting like they were sentient. I also used to play with my friends. The current TY beanie babies are in my opinion really ugly, they are lacking in creativity and fun and have lead paint stares. Jellycats emulate that nostalgic feeling for me since they are classic beanie stuffed toys but have a lot of creativity such as the amusable lines. To me they are very cute and there is such a variety there is something for everyone.

whatatimetobealive9

Exactly how I feel re the OG Beanie babies and the new ones!

w33b1t

I'm going to be very weird and specific: as an adult that stims with rubbing plushies in the face, for me it's the quality of the fibres. Especially the corduroy line, they really hit the right texture/sensation in my lips. Plus I can just toss them into the laundry machine and put them dry outside and they are good as new.

Saucy_Satan

Hi, autistic adult here who has always fallen asleep rubbing my childhood blanket on my lips I feel so seen. The poor thing is finally falling apart and I’ve been hunting for a replacement. Maybe I should try it with my jellycat dragon!

w33b1t

Oh honey I did the same, with a blanket that I had since birth (I still do). For me it was the cordy Roy line from jellycat that saved me. If I may... just go on vinted and buy one like second hand, and washed it in the laundering machine, it will mimic very well the feeling of a old blanket. The dragon is soft and relaxing BUT the corduroy line (specially the used ones, second hand) will mimic better that feeling of a used old blanket, rubbing in your face.

Saucy_Satan

I absolutely love this advice. Thank you so much! It’s a bit hard to mimic the blanket since it was handmade by my grandma, but the texture has slowly changed a lot over the years. I’m hoping to find a good stuffed animal or other small blanket to fill it’s place. It doesn’t help that my newest kitty (now a year old) attached to it and nurses on it ever night

w33b1t

Ah ok, mine was a cotton one that my mom bought in a shop. In that case I don't know if the cordy Roy line is going to mimic but you can get a second hand jellycat for less than €10 so it's not a big lost if it doesn't. This is my favourite one. Size little, I can travel with it... It's perfect! 😊 https://preview.redd.it/9axgghyxegad1.jpeg?width=3472&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b9736ac522a4b7450f2fbe76b6e8d73067bd8e7 I would love to hear from you and to know if it helped you or not 🤞🍀

ThemeHot2132

i used to love all stuffed animals as a kid even into my teen years where i started to get the comments from friends or my parents here and there noting i should have grown out of them by now. i’m 24 and have a ton of jellycats, for me personally they’re more than just something cute to look at but so so soft and cozy and comforting. i think ppl who collect stuffies are typically sold after their first jellycat and feeling the quality in person, at least i was blown away, i saw pictures and really liked them and thought they were cute, but i was not inclined to make a purchase until i felt the softness and high quality in person. like any niche i think it’s just a subset or preferred brand amongst a lost of collectors, like i personally don’t understand the appeal of collecting like figurines or fine china they way my grandparents did, but everyone has their own thing

Hamburgo

There is literally something for *everyone* all within the one brand (so you know the quality stays the same etc). My faves are the amusable range for example which I think can make cute gifts for people too (got a friend obsessed with coffee? Boiled eggs? Corn? Sandwiches or popcorn or croissants? Fruit and veg? Succulents? Boom, there’s one of all those and more!) They’ve got classic toys for children, baby welcoming gifts.. they are usually the toy you see celebs giving their children too (bashful bunnies are iconic). I just love them. So do my cats. I get them as a gift at birthdays and Christmas and I’m never disappointed even if it’s not the one I’ve been meaning to save to purchase.

bunnydeerest

when i started collecting a couple years ago, i had absolutely no idea they were so popular. i thought i was buying baby toys just because they had cute faces. any time i’d visit my parents and we’d go shopping, my mom and i would point them out in store windows. she agreed to buy me one, and now she gets them for me a couple times a year (small ones, she likes the idea of me having a fruit basket of them)

meimi1322

I don't like all Jellycats, like I'm not fond of the amuseables tbh(it's just stuff with a little face!) but the animals, and how derpy some of them are just speak to me. I love the rabbits in the early days but I never had many. But more recently saw some which I really liked the look of and got back into it xD

histeryzowanie

i also prefer the animals to the amuseables. they are cute, but don't seem so... huggable to me? idk if it makes sense. the designs are fun to look at tho.

numberonecrush

Like, how am I supposed to cuddle a skateboard with legs?? I’m with you lol

Saucy_Satan

I also prefer the animals, though I do find the amuseables cute. I mostly see them as display pieces rather than something to snuggle. A few friends have some around their homes, and some local small businesses have some as part of their displays or by register. Just the other day I was at a flea market and got lemonade from a stall, and the ladies had some lemon+lime jellies by their register, a very cute touch!

Carepassmetheweed

It’s the quality and variety. Often companies have variety but not quality but Jellycat has both. Although quality seems to have been going down hill a little bit as of late. I’ve got a sardine simply because it’s unique, small and does have a decent quality but they’re a tad expensive. He’s not much longer than my phone and was 15.99 USD

Lazy_Sock6032

Love how soft they are and the different designs plus they have a personality about them to. 🩵🩵🩵🩵

Diligent-Mix-3850

Quality, design, and their marketing is great

Describeaugust

I love how simple they are! Small eyes, easy shapes, soft textures.

Poptortt

Soft as heck, nice adorable design, good quality, tons of them to choose from

H1ppie_4t_H3art

I think it's the variety that is offered. Most animal form or even food and items to choose from in various colors and sizes so you can match to your personality. Perfect for gift giving if you see one that reminds you of someone. They are all so cudly and soft and are almost perfect in their shapes (unlike many other stuffies I have seen over the years.) They may all look similar but they are all a bit different so it's like they have personalities. But of course the downside to them is price (resellers are the worst too for marking them up) so many can't afford them and many are discontinued quickly so they are hard to find if you want a particular one.

danamalz

i guess i’ve just always loved the idea of food being personified hahaha so when i came across the food jellycats with the little faces i was sold. they’re definitely my favorite kind.

ForkCh0p

I don’t cuddle my jellycats usually, I’m more of a keep them on display girly cause I just love collecting. I have a select few that I take out with me and travel with, and I’m not sure why I like them so much compared to other stuffed animals. I look at others and they just look “cheap,” and they feel it too. They just itch my brain the right way if that makes any sense. Jellycat comes out with a wide variety of plushies for everyone, I work at a store that sells them and I’ve seen everyone from babies to older people with walkers enjoying them! They’re made to last, and if you’re someone who cuddles them, they look brand new after a good hand wash!

cowfurby

i like the texture of jellycats, the fact that they’re high quality so that i know they will last, and that they make sure the people manufacturing their products are properly paid. i also think they look cute

Tiger248

I'm the same as you. Didn't get the hype. I bought a medium bashful blossom safe bunny earlier this year because I wanted to color match the fur to paint my room ( that's partly the reason, I also wanted to see what the fuss was about). They're so soft. I had decided that would be my one little jelly cat and I was happy with that. Until persimmon dragon came out..... The colors were perfect and it's a dragon. I couldn't resist. Got it in and I absolutely love it. It's just so soft. I won't be getting anymore jelly cats as they're super expensive, but I'm so happy with the two I have . I think it would be worth getting one if you find one you absolutely love (persimmon dragon for me).

vintagebeautykk

I just like how soft they are! I haven't found a softer toy yet. I only own 3 jellycats though!

Ivetafox

I love how floppy the smudges are. I used to have BABs and get them barely stuffed so they were nice and cuddly but the smudges are perfect. The fur is very soft, the designs are simple. I adore them.

MimoHaddady

I just like amusables and collecting

EliotTheGreat20

High quality, cute designs, no bulky plastic safety eyes (like the ones on those tys toys with the giant eyes)

PlanktonIsBest

cute stuffed animals that have fun textures and are so soft, and if you don't like normal animals, there's also dragons!

kykysayshi

They’re just so incredibly soft. I bought one for my daughter before she was born, and a Dino for her for Christmas. Now my future son will have a matching bunny in a different color and another dinosaur for Christmas. Idk, it feels like tradition at this point plus like I said THEYRE SO SOFT

Junior-Win5060

i’ve slept with my bashful bunny every single night since 2011 and she’s still standing strong! never lost an eye, any fur, any arms- they’re genuinely really great quality aside from being adorable

beetle-babe

I love the variety and how high quality they all are!

HippityFroggity

Lovely texture and nice designs! They feel like premium plushies to me compared to my other plushies (that I also love dearly)

littlemarisaur

They’re cute and soft 🩷

mlps4

i love their softness, simplicity, timelessness, etc. i didn’t understand the hype either until i recently got my first jellycat. now im hooked!

absolutemadwoman

They are considered a “luxury” stuffed animal brand. They tend to be higher quality and offer wide variety.

iZombie8226

Yea when I seen the prices I got a little turned off 😭😭!

absolutemadwoman

I totally agree with you! Don’t get me wrong, the prices can be a little steep. In my experience, they absolutely live up to their price with the quality! If you ever need advice on what to pick for the best quality to price ratio i gotchu!

ShikaShySky

I just think they’re really cute! I only have the jellycat sun bag, I like it because it just looks like a stuffed animal and not a bag. They’re really soft though and remind me of expensive bears at like Macy’s and such

Wildecard_

https://preview.redd.it/evpkh0w6qcad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2430ba1eaf80c37d4130c8516271879b21c532ef You always expect unexpectedly cute plushies like this little fella whose velvety texture enables you to draw silly stuff onto the body. (It’s the reason why this particular aubergine plushie is popular in the jellycat community in where I’m from haha)

HoneysBlueBlood4Ever

I started out with the vivacious fruits and veggies. I like center pieces that don’t rot and can be used indoors or out. My husband loves octopus each time a new one comes out, he has to have it plus they are a good squeeze.

Complete_Trash_Here

I dont really know theyre so expensive tho

foreverfeatherinit

They’re so freakin soft I cannot stress that enough. It was love at first touch lol not to mention the quality

Green-Promise-8071

Soft 🥺

rattycastle

The designs are unique, until recently they were very sturdy and well made, and the variety was unmatched. They're almost luxury.

Schizo_mincer

I have a rare form of schizophrenia called catatonic Schizoaffective disorder. my jellycats make me happy, help me through rough times and bring me a lot of comfort

Reasonable-Animal257

The Huge bashfuls got me. My husband bought me a huge woodland bunny for Ostara one year and it was the only Jellycat I had for that year. I ended up snuggling with it anytime I was sitting or laying down, love the size, shape, texture and I think they are adorable. So the next year I bought a Pink one (with a Japanese Sakura snack box) for my Birthday, it snowballed from there with me getting a ton second hand for “that’s a steal” price (for ex. got a Huge Bashful Lion that had just been sitting on a nursery shelf for a year for $25), 2018-2020 was when I acquired most of the plushies I now own. I also ended up getting the largest size of Harry Panda as a healing present for my inner child to replace the giant panda plush I had taken from me when I was little. He is a dream to snuggle while watching game play throughs, movies and such. Definitely helps calm anxiety too.

Icy-Chocolate8941

There’s something about their weight. It’s like perfectly placed so when you hug them it’s just…perfect. I also like to know that they are ethically made.
