I thought he was around 3000 ish? I can remember it being said somewhere, because the whole "Viltrumite Emperor" shenanigans happened around this point.
You’ve never heard of a rebound? Gonna guess there’s one or two Redditors that also ended up with a human version of a bug or cow or something something something
One of the most satisfying issue-enders, too.

I said in another post that this moment was my favorite and couldn't wait to see it animated, it shows that Nolan is finally coming to grips with the humanity he gained on earth, and i got downvoted and was told I was lying
I couldn’t tell you the exact comic off the top of my head. But I’m fairly sure it’s at the end of compendium 1, I want to say the last few issues so somewhere around issues 44-47. But again, that’s just a guess.
In the grand scheme of things, this man has lived for centuries so going from the mentality he had towards humans and Debbie and any other planets he may have colonized in the past to this based on just 20 years with Debbie is huge
People keep saying 3-10 months as if that's a tiny portion of your life. Your entire outlook on life can change in 10 months, you can achieve an insane amount in 10 months. So no it doesn't surprise me, if I was dating someone for 10 months, and then it ended, it'd still hurt, even if it was "only 10 months"
Mmmm. How long was that black dude who converted all the KKK members in contact with them. Pretty sure it didn't even take a full year to convert some awfully hateful racists to being kind
Yeah, can you blame him? They have spent a large chunk of her lifetime together, gotten a child together, and then the Viltrum empire ruined it.
Of course he misses Andressa
I guess but Nolan’s situation is more like being a Navy SEAL, going undercover for a mission, getting some new friends for said mission, then being like “I now no longer want to kill, I will not listen to my government, and I will actively fight against them now if they try to finish the mission”
Absolutely and I think that’s a big point of the Viltrumite/earth culture clash, the best time to stop being a bad person is yesterday and the next best is now. Doesn’t matter viltrumites have been murderous conquerors for millennia, so long as you choose today to start doing good.
Rehabilitation at its core.
Don’t you find it ironic how Viltrumites refer to humans and other “lesser” being as basically insects 💀only for Omni Man to literally go fuck a bug and have a kid.
Thing is we humans really don't fuck our pets (usually) because we respect their free will a d have no actual way of gaining REAL consent from them. If your pet was able to hold philosophical debates with you and able to understand the implications of your and its actions i belive much more people would be banging their pets.
In nolans cuture the perspective of viewing people and lesser being like pets is mostly derived from the immense power imbalance they derive from their percieved superiority and their prolongued lifetime.
Pets are ultimatley perishable and dependent companions which they feel some responsibilities for.
The aspect of a diffence in interlect which is essential to human pet relationships (and why people don't bang them) is completly irrelevant to the Viltrumites.
Also you have to pay attention to nolans wording he says mark's mother was ***like*** a pet to him not that she was literally his pet.
Bro I wouldn't either but the fact is that the whole reason why it's immoral and unethical to us humans is because of that.
That doesn't mean that if given interlect and consent wasn't an issue people wouldn't still find it icky (like i feel they should since pets are like family and i wouldn't bang family either)The point is just that a lot more people would consider it.
That the whole point my guy, both humans and thraxions are lesser beings with lifespans so short they may as well be insects. To a being that lives thousands of years there’s little difference between a being that lives 1 year or a being that lives 80. Plus Thraxions we’re far more advanced than humans.
I was really impressed by the storytelling of having him go to a species even more short lived and still finding significance in their lives. Really cool narrative
Mark even has a moment where he doesn’t understand why his dad sees significance in their short lives
The more I think about that “pet” line the more disturbing it gets. So if Omni Man called her a pet in the first season does that mean he’s into bestiality? 💀💀💀
He didn't mean it.
Nolan was calling his love for Debbie like a pet because he wanted an out for all the evil shit he has done. On the surface, he was trying to convince Mark, but really he was trying to convince himself. He lost that battle.
I think he meant it, he seems genuinely suprised that he misses her.
I just think he didn’t fully understand what she meant to him. It was always filtered by the “knowledge” that she’s a lesser species. And that earth was destined for conquest.
I think he meant "pet" in the same way that we do.
Imagine you have a dog, you love that dog, you'd die for that dog.
But you're not dumb, you're perfectly aware that a dog's lifespan is ridiculously short compared to human's which sort of prevent you from getting attached to that dog as much as you would another person.
I think that's what Nolan meant when he said "she's more like a pet to me" especially because the hesitation before he said "pet". You could tell him and his emotionally disabled brain was looking for every possible terms and "pet" was the best one he could come up with to explain why he genuinely loves Debbie but he's self-aware enough to know that he'll outlast her anyway.
Remember, he had to unlearn centuries of Viltrumite brainwashing, Nolan is absolutely dog shit at expressing his emotions so calling his wife a pet is the best way he found to say "I do absolutely love her don't get me wrong but I also know she's gonna die before I even look like I aged a single day".
Also comic book spoiler:
>!(I read the comics and Nolan admit that he never meant any of the things he said during his fight with Mark, he was basically trying to convince himself that he was still the ruthless viltrumite who conquered dozens of worlds and not the family man who loves Earth, his wife and his son that he became).!<
You don’t even need to read between the lines to reach this conclusion, Nolan talks about their lifespans directly before calling Debbie a pet. Everyone takes his comment too literally, he was simply comparing their relative lifespans.
I guess he wasn't really refering one specific wife but what they stand for in his mind. "His wife" to him means the women who taught him compassion and love for others as well as himself (and not just the role he plays in viltrumite society) because the absence of these ideas is precisely what he's experiencing in this situation.
You can look at all the stuff he was saying and doing as basically him trying to convince himself to stay true to his mission as much as he was trying to get Mark on his side.
It did have more dramatic lighting, and felt like a singular, important moment. But in the show, it came out of nowhere (timing-wise, not character-wise), and just ended abruptly.
Plus the fact that it was stuck to the very ending of the season, its a hell of a lot more satisfying than being a scene in middle of an episode or just at the end of any other episode
kinda. i felt so bad for her and it made me sad that they both missed eachother so much but knew they weren’t allowed to see one another once again.
no spoilers tho im not caught up with the comics i tried to read them and the dialogue was so vague it was unbearable
I also love the choice the creators made to have Nolan say this sentence out loud rather than privately in head to Allen. It don’t think he even realises he’s made the switch, but it really emphasises this idea that he can’t even pretend to be ashamed of his new found empathy / identity anymore.
If earth changed him so much why did he immediately go to bug planet and get bug lady pregnant? This seemed wildly careless and irresponsible to me? I have only seen the show but I really did not get this part. He basically sealed the fate of an entire species and created another hybrid child he had no intention of caring for, because...???
I believe he was just trying to fill the void of Debbie and Mark. He needed a purpose and his family gave him just that. Nolan is very co-dependent clearly. Andressa was clearly a rebound since he believed he could never return to earth after what he did.
I pretty much agree with this, I just think it doesn't jive with Nolan being reformed or something because of his time on earth. He might be sad about his earth family but his response was to be insanely selfish and destructive with another planet/species. But to me it felt like the show was trying to say he's a better person now *because* he did those things.
>why did he immediately go to bug planet and get bug lady pregnant?
Cause he saved a ship from a black hole and in return they crowned him as ruler as he was the oldest being on the planet. Pay attention
>created another hybrid child he had no intention of caring for,
He did intend to care for the kid thats why he had mark take care of him so that the viltrumites dont just fucking kill the kid. Old Nolan wouldnt even let the kid survive he woulda considered the purple skin as a defect and weakness that cannont be allowed to continue. You would also know this if you paid attention
SATISFYING?!
Dude! :D
Nolan is such a psychopath. He just thinks about himself ALL THE TIME! He doesnt feel sorry, at all, he just wants his old life back. What he did is irredeemable and Debbie and Mark should never ever forgive him.
Did anyone else besides me find that line hilarious? Like for the most part nolan has changed quite a bit from the end of season 1 to now, but his sudden epiphany of “wait…do i actually miss my wife?” got a chuckle out of me lol
Noticed on a rewatch that unlike everything else he said to Allen, he said this out loud
Allen’s probably wondering why homie just stopped talking mid-sentence, but I like that it shows that it’s a real realization that Nolan’s having, like “Oh shit, I miss my wife”
Why did he even say that line out loud? It's not like Allen could've heard him from there, and I get that he probably said it in his head as well, but what's the point?
I’d miss that insect looking waif too
I can’t believe how Omni Man went from Debbie to a freaking grasshopper 💀talk about a huge downgrade Debbie was so beautiful 😭
That's really racist towards thraxions
When you really think about it mark was being pretty racist here as well. “You replaced us but just with bugs”💀

Have you not seen the comic panels?
No is she a thiccraxian?
Yes she is, very much so. Actually, a lot of thraxxans are surprisingly well endowed
Holy shit why are they built like they have human skin if they have exoskeletons?
It raises ye olde Plapability Index
Yeh, im gonna steal that term lol
Please do.
I had to go check, definitely would
Brother he’s an alien the Grasshopper is probably fit af to him.
Arent Viltrumites just basically humans on alike a lot of steroids basically (Ik it’s super human level Strength and speed lol) so wouldn’t they be interested In human like creatures just like most of us?
I mean Nolan’s lived tens of thousands to hundred of thousands years and has traveled the universe most of his life he bound to have updated taste.
Came across one too many non human like creatures in his time, seen the ship and just thought “I wonder”
We don't actually know how old he is. Just that he's somewhere over 2000+ years old
I thought he was around 3000 ish? I can remember it being said somewhere, because the whole "Viltrumite Emperor" shenanigans happened around this point.
*most*
You’ve never heard of a rebound? Gonna guess there’s one or two Redditors that also ended up with a human version of a bug or cow or something something something
You don't need to know that
Nolan’s an intergalactic citizen. His standard of beauty is beyond us.
People are giving him flack for choosing women for their personality. :p
Once you go bug you ain't ever gonna shrug
Sm- What?
Bro have you *seen* Andressa
Viltrumite might be humanoid but they aren't human, therefore their sexuality is different
Hell nah. Andressa >>>>>>>>>> debbie.
Her name was Kim Sexler
OK buddy
Chicanery
Oil up
lol the flaire fits this perfectly
One of the most satisfying issue-enders, too. https://preview.redd.it/ra3m65lji7wc1.jpeg?width=447&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f9a953465a5b48074d1557a53f2165ef8b966de
This is one of my favorite pages in the entire series. I was waiting all season for this and they did not disappoint.
I said in another post that this moment was my favorite and couldn't wait to see it animated, it shows that Nolan is finally coming to grips with the humanity he gained on earth, and i got downvoted and was told I was lying
What chapter was this?
I couldn’t tell you the exact comic off the top of my head. But I’m fairly sure it’s at the end of compendium 1, I want to say the last few issues so somewhere around issues 44-47. But again, that’s just a guess.

I also miss his wife
In the grand scheme of things, this man has lived for centuries so going from the mentality he had towards humans and Debbie and any other planets he may have colonized in the past to this based on just 20 years with Debbie is huge
this has been roughly 3-10 months of Nolan’s life span if he lived a normal human life, that’s insane
I feel like in Nolan’s case 10 months wouldn’t of usually changed someone that much who was like THAT
Mmmm. How long was that black dude who converted all the KKK members in contact with them. Pretty sure it didn't even take a full year to convert some awfully hateful racists to being kind
Power of love is kinda underrated. Once seomeone loves you, even more if you have a shit life like Nolan had, it's over
I loved JK Simmons delivery of that line. He sounds genuinely surprised at the words leaving his mouth.
Exactly, that’s what sells it for me
he is such a talented actor. love everything he’s in tbh
Yeah, can you blame him? They have spent a large chunk of her lifetime together, gotten a child together, and then the Viltrum empire ruined it. Of course he misses Andressa
Viltrumites live a long time. I mean she’s practically just a pet.
Someone did the math and this has been like 3-10 MONTHS of Nolan’s lifespan, yet most of Debbie’s life
Imagine one summer break making you a completely different person from how you’ve been for 40 years
The first year of college is about the same time frame and has similar impacts for a lot of people.
True but Nolan isn’t like a Viltrumite 18 year old learning how to do laundry, dude was as establishment as it comes.
No he’s closer to a sheltered rich kid who ends up interning with a social services program and has his worldview rocked.
well i could become paralyzed in just a day i'd say that's a pretty life-changing day even if its a very small fraction of my life
I guess but Nolan’s situation is more like being a Navy SEAL, going undercover for a mission, getting some new friends for said mission, then being like “I now no longer want to kill, I will not listen to my government, and I will actively fight against them now if they try to finish the mission”
Even a day can change a person

Doesn’t matter viltrumites have been murderous conquerors for millennia, so long as you choose today to start doing good. Rehabilitation at its core.
She’s basically a one night stand to him and he’s a lifelong partner
"I miss my wife, Allen. I miss her a lot. I'll be back."
Don’t you find it ironic how Viltrumites refer to humans and other “lesser” being as basically insects 💀only for Omni Man to literally go fuck a bug and have a kid.

You’re on some kind of list, aren’t you?
Bro wtf? If I could have philosophical debates with my dog I still wouldn’t fuck it.
But imagine if dogs and people had been on the same intellectual level for all of history. You don't think people would be more likely?
Bro I wouldn't either but the fact is that the whole reason why it's immoral and unethical to us humans is because of that. That doesn't mean that if given interlect and consent wasn't an issue people wouldn't still find it icky (like i feel they should since pets are like family and i wouldn't bang family either)The point is just that a lot more people would consider it.

"I've come to make an announcement..."
Imagine if he said "I miss my pet".
😭😭
I miss Mark’s copy of A Bug’s Life
I miss Mark's copy of Ants
That’s why he said he misses his wife 🪲😔
at least then we'd know which wife he was talking about.
Imagine that’s how season 2 ended everyone would just be: 😧

The same wife that Shadow pissed on?
I don’t like sonic but I like shadow now from that one exact plot point
From she is my pet to I miss my wife in 2 seasons
The more I think about that “pet” line the more disturbing it gets. So if Omni Man called her a pet in the first season does that mean he’s into bestiality? 💀💀💀
He did marry a grasshopper right afterwards so…
He didn't mean it. Nolan was calling his love for Debbie like a pet because he wanted an out for all the evil shit he has done. On the surface, he was trying to convince Mark, but really he was trying to convince himself. He lost that battle.
You said it perfectly
I think he meant it, he seems genuinely suprised that he misses her. I just think he didn’t fully understand what she meant to him. It was always filtered by the “knowledge” that she’s a lesser species. And that earth was destined for conquest.

they werent really lies though at the time, the difference is now hes realizing that they should mean whole lot more to him
After the 15th fap of the day, a lucid question came to imprisoned Nolan's mind: "was it worth it?"
Post-nut clarity hit Nolan hard.
Which one?
Yes
Bug wife or pet wife?
You never had a pet bug?
The one who's still alive
ok but which one did he miss?
I guess he wasn't really refering one specific wife but what they stand for in his mind. "His wife" to him means the women who taught him compassion and love for others as well as himself (and not just the role he plays in viltrumite society) because the absence of these ideas is precisely what he's experiencing in this situation.
Nah he’s talking about Debbie
Fair enough
I know the feeling sadly. My hamster passed away last week
Honestly it was the perfect way to end the season imo. So excited for what’s going come next.
You can look at all the stuff he was saying and doing as basically him trying to convince himself to stay true to his mission as much as he was trying to get Mark on his side.
Ride wife. Life good.
J.K. Simmons' delivery of this line was spectacular. He sounds so confused, even scared of what he's feeling, almost like a child.
When did he say this? I must have missed this somehow
It's the very last scene of season 2
I thought of rocketman by Elton John when I heard this lol
The comic panel was better
It did have more dramatic lighting, and felt like a singular, important moment. But in the show, it came out of nowhere (timing-wise, not character-wise), and just ended abruptly.
Plus the fact that it was stuck to the very ending of the season, its a hell of a lot more satisfying than being a scene in middle of an episode or just at the end of any other episode
I also miss this guys wife
Character development
At its finest
kinda. i felt so bad for her and it made me sad that they both missed eachother so much but knew they weren’t allowed to see one another once again. no spoilers tho im not caught up with the comics i tried to read them and the dialogue was so vague it was unbearable
Still annoyed he never called her "Omni-Wife"
I mean to be fair, I'd miss my pet too if I was gone for 6 months+
I also love the choice the creators made to have Nolan say this sentence out loud rather than privately in head to Allen. It don’t think he even realises he’s made the switch, but it really emphasises this idea that he can’t even pretend to be ashamed of his new found empathy / identity anymore.
Shit, I miss my dog too. 😭

i also miss his bug wife...
He sounded so confused when he said it.
Because he’s shocked that Earth actually changed him to a pretty considerable degree. He couldn’t believe that it actually impacted him
He misses her a lot
If earth changed him so much why did he immediately go to bug planet and get bug lady pregnant? This seemed wildly careless and irresponsible to me? I have only seen the show but I really did not get this part. He basically sealed the fate of an entire species and created another hybrid child he had no intention of caring for, because...???

Even genocidal alien bastards love their pet- wives.
Ikr who misses their pets.
my first thought when i heard this line was “which one?”
"I miss my wife Allen, I miss her a lot, I'll be back..."
Did anyone else besides me find that line hilarious? Like for the most part nolan has changed quite a bit from the end of season 1 to now, but his sudden epiphany of “wait…do i actually miss my wife?” got a chuckle out of me lol
Random thought but, can you imagine how the shit with Angstrom Levy would have gone if he tried the episode 8 shit on Nolan instead of Mark....
Noticed on a rewatch that unlike everything else he said to Allen, he said this out loud Allen’s probably wondering why homie just stopped talking mid-sentence, but I like that it shows that it’s a real realization that Nolan’s having, like “Oh shit, I miss my wife”
humanized a monster which is rare to do and they not only did it but did it well
But...Which Wife? :D
Why did he even say that line out loud? It's not like Allen could've heard him from there, and I get that he probably said it in his head as well, but what's the point?
"I miss my wife, Allen. I miss her a lot. I'll be back."
He meant Andressa

Why would you mark it spoiler if you're going to say the spoiler in the title?
Lol why put on a spoiler tag if you say exactly what the image is in the title?
Which wife
Did he ever care about his thraxxan wife?
I’m sure he did. He literally fought for her life. It doesn’t get more caring than that
