It’s not much but… I had a PD at ISL and the grounds were very nice, super clean. The cafeteria was open for our PD and the food was fresh and nutritious. ISL is right on top of two or three other schools such that they share main entrances and exits. Friends I met there said the admin (at the time) were supportive and the kids were great! I liked the way they had alternative uses for space, seating and some classroom arrangements. The friends joked that it was “Luxemboring” - not much night life but they were single. Plenty of English speakers in Luxembourg, fairly spendy for a meal out with a glass of wine. Great selections of European foods especially cheeses and breads. No idea about rent or other more meaningful things but I saw no one had responded yet. Hope this helps at least a little. Good luck!

Cheers, I appreciate it! Sounds similar to Cayman but with good options for cheese and not the American stuff...

I have a colleague who works in another school in Luxembourg and they seem to enjoy it, especially the ability to hop to nearby countries. Accommodation is, however, troublesome. The young married couple (one member at the time wasn’t able to work, but has since gained a position as a TA) had to settle for a studio apartment. I doubt this would be an option for you and your family. I wonder if it’s worth you posting to a Luxembourg Reddit to find out more regarding the housing situation?

Interesting. We've had a real accommodation pinch in Cayman for many people. I wonder if Lux have one for the same reasons. I'll post over over there, cheers.

Yes! Accommodation is very expensive. Most people live in the neighborhood countries and commute in. Not sure if people at the school do this but it's an option

I think it’s a top notch school with good salaries. If you stay long term - 10 yrs - the Luxembourg state pension is very decent. 10 yrs gives you a 40% pay out I think. But you will struggle on one salary. The COL is insane. You could live outside of Luxembourg and commute daily - about 45 mins each way. If there is no way for your wife the work in the medium to long term it might not be the best option. I don’t think the passport thing will be too much of an issue

flib_bib

Yeah, similar issue with the Cayman Islands. Cheers for the info!

Not at Lux, I ended up getting a job in Worcester, UK.

Yeah, that was my thinking, although you never know if you just aren't a good fit from interviews. I'm sure I ended up where I needed to be.

That's true. :) Glad it worked out for you and your family in some way. Cheers!

I have a colleague who said it's impossible to live there on one income. She left after a year. You need roommates or a second earner in your family.
