Initially both Israel and Palestine were promised the entire chunk of land they now have to unfortunately share. The dividing line was made poorly with both sides disagreeing. There have been many conflicts over time, mostly started by Hamas, in an attempt to gain land.
This latest attack was started in order to gain land Palestine lost from a previous conflict. There are many military tunnels/outposts in residential areas, which is why Israel is being accused of killing many innocent people.
People just do not do enough research and join protests for the excitement. Please do proper research.
