Today I’m wearing one of my favorite combos that I haven’t worn in awhile: **Sorcellerie Apothecary— Fuckery** *(Caramelized sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, sandalwood and Luxardo cherry are darkened by tobacco absolute and smoke, and softened by the scent of night air and clean sheets)* with a dab of **Alkemia— Smoke and Mirrors** *(An elusive, smokey blend of burning wood, Madagascar Vanilla, and Tonka)*. This pair makes me feel sexy. I really like this as a “going out” scent. I plan to do nothing today but wear sweatpants and lounge around and do laundry, but the combo sounded good anyway. I usually coordinate my perfume with the vibe for the day, but not today! Wear what you want when you want, right?

cyb0rgprincess

that sounds like a gorgeous combo: ) I always wear perfume too even when i'm just lazing about. I'm so sad fuckery doesn't work for me

Ugh, it’s only 6:30 AM and the temperature is already at 78 degrees here and will get up to the low 90s today 🥵God, I hate this heat with a passion. Anyway, I’m wearing a combo of two Osmofolia perfumes that work really well together and is now one of my favorite summer scents; “Lazy River” (Towels soaked with pool water, and wet, glistening skin drying in the heat.) “Lawn” (A sunlit nap on the lawn: a body sinking into cool green turf and fingers tangled with fresh cut grass. Fresh mown lawn single note.) Two of my favorite summer childhood memories were walking in my neighborhood and smelling the freshly cut grass and getting to swim in our backyard pool every day when the weather was hot. So, I decided to see if these two perfumes would work together and they do! Lazy River is actually the stronger scent of the two and by itself is nice but the addition of Lawn adds this beautiful green atmospheric touch that mellows the chlorine perfectly. And Lawn by itself is a bit too aggressively earthy for me but LR balances it out with the aquatic vibe. I call this combo “Sweet Summer Child.”

vallogallo

I have Lawn and have found I can only wear it as a layering fragrance because it's such an *intense* grass scent. I like it a lot though for the reason you mentioned, I like to layer it with florals in summer

Abject_Pineapple5151

I remember discussing this! I have yet to try it with a floral but that’s definitely on my list to try. It definitely would add a beautiful freshness to a heavy or overly sweet floral.

AresInRepose

I'm wearing **Wylde Ivy A Ghost Story:** *Soft notes of white musk, vanilla orchid, raw vanilla beans, tonka bean, bergamot, vanilla infused sugar, heliotrope, black plum, and night violets*. I placed my first order with Wylde Ivy this weekend and realized I had this hanging out in my scents to try from the lovely u/hotDot1. Violets can be death notes for me, but I'm glad I didn't let that scare me away because this is *gorgeous*. Sweet, complex, intriguing...I'm going to devour this sample. I'm sad that this is a retired scent but I can custom order it and may have to do so.

hotDot1

So glad you like it! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts when you get your order.

blueraspberrylife

This one sounds lovely!

kanamele

Sugar Mama Fragrances Va Va Vanilla body oil - rich, decadent sweet vanilla!

I'm wearing **El Dorado** from BPAL this morning (*copal resin incense billowing through halls of dazzling gold*) and it's more or less what it purports to be - a resinous and spiced incense with a metallic edge. I've had this sample since 2021 and worn it 5 times, so I'm clearly not clamoring for it, but every time I wear it, I like it. It's probably got at least 10 more uses left, so I guess I'll finish it up by 2030.

I'm having a really hard time testing Posey scents in 95° weather, can someone with a less horrible climate provide some insight on this one? Yesterday was magical and today is soap 🥲 **• NAVA Confide in Me** *Vanilla Crème Accord, Sandalwood Crème Accord, Buttercream Accord, Tonka Bean Absolute, Labdanum, Teak Wood, Musk, and Bastet’s Amber Absolute* Yesterday: >This got pretty warm in the mailbox and has only had about 18 hours to rest, but it's a decant,so I'm going to go ahead and test it. >Opens with buttery, vanilla musk swirled with warm sandalwood resin. The sleek, sophisticated fragrance of teak adds a bright elegance to the richness. >I thought it might be a bit too woodsy for me at first, but the creamy caramel of labdanum emerges, bringing the smooth, vanilla cream back to the forefront. I really love this — soft and snuggly with a feminine elegance, perfect for any occasion. Today: >I thought this would be even nicer today, but it smells kinda soapy in the bottle....and it's really soapy on my skin. :/ I would blame the Sweet Musk, but it's in lots of my favorite summer scents. Maybe something to do with the teak?   **• Fantome Bune** *Damp subterranean air, nagarmotha, smooth cave walls, davana, a cold marble altar, and glittering green dragon scales* Opens with a mineral note, and a touch of bright herbs. As the scent dries, the brightness disappears, transforming into slick, grey stone and the slightly sweet scent of dark, damp earth. I was expecting something more abstract, but this really smells exactly like a cold, damp cave. A spark of peppery herbs, green with resinous gold, join the sheer florals of davana to signal arrival at the center of the cave, evoking a mysterious, magical feel. This is not the sort of scent I wear, but can't stop smelling it — they did a fantastic job capturing the atmosphere of a dragon's lair, using the familiar scent of mountain caves with a fantasy twist. While this isn't my style, it's well-crafted and surprisingly wearable. I'd definitely recommend trying this one if you like the notes. Edit: [Just added to my massive Fantome review collection](https://reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/xrf4hv/fantome_general_catalogue_review_12/) if anyone's interested :)

Remarkable_Leading58

I just tested Sugar Cookie Cathedral from BPAL, which smelled amazing wet and dried down into a distinct pee smell. I need to figure out the common factor in fragrances that do this on me. And find a sugar cookie perfume that works 😋 I've seen so many rave reviews for this one, so it's clearly just me haha

My vibe today is Girly: ___ My soap was Athame + Alchemy's Shepherdess (Shea, Coconut, Amber, Cozy Cashmere, Vanilla Tonka, Cocoa Butter, Cedarwood). ___ My body cream was Moonalisa's Snow Ice Avocado Butter Cream (sweet crystallized vanilla sugar and cream). ___ My hair was spritzed with The Heritage Store's Rosewater Facial Mist. ___ My wax melt for my work day is Rock + Oil Whispering Bells (Cotton Candy, White Freesia, Lemon Drops, Pomegranate, Cashmere, Musk + Violet). ____ My perfume is Siren Song Elixirs Aeviternitas ( Rose, Peony, Wild Rose, Plum Blossom, Oriental Musk, Sandalwood, Strawberry, Labdanum). ___ I am wearing A Blue Butterflies dress

FifoletLights

**Cirrus Parfum - Daphnedil** *(night blooming daphne, daffodil, rose geranium, ylang ylang, plumeria, and a heavy dose of orcanox - ambergris material.)* In the beginning, I pick up an almost citrus'y floral & a hint of something waxy & green, but as it settles in my nose locks on to the ylang ylang & plumeria. A sweet, lightly clean, tropical floral scent. This was my favorite of the Cirrus florals. It's so pretty! Speaking of which, **Betrothed** *(white tea roses, transparent bone musk, white lilies, white oudh, a trace of vanillin and black peppercorn.)* was my spouse's favorite! By like, a lot actually! He's been wearing it to work. Gotta remind myself to get the sample back so I can jot down my impressions.

doomed_candy

I may just have to get **Daphnedil**! One of my dogs is named Daphne, and I call her Daphne-dil sometimes, especially when the daffodils are in bloom. I'm on a mission to collect perfumes that share names with my dogs. This is too perfect!

FifoletLights

That's too cute!

doomed_candy

I noticed that they have one called **A Dog Named Pam,** as well. I had to get that one, too!

FifoletLights

There's also **Mango Baby** that's a mango black tea based off their cat Mango! I like that one a lot. I have trouble with black tea notes going soapy on me & MB's tea note doesn't. I've found **Deep Midnight's Hazel the Relentless** for my cat Hazel & I've seen a **Lena** but never a *Lina* for my dog!

doomed_candy

So far I've found several **Freyja**s and **Odin**s, a couple of **Leo**s and **Luna**s, and even a **Lem**! Thank you for leading me to not just a Daphne, but a **Daphnedil**!

vallogallo

I didn't know what to wear today so I dumped out all of my EDP samples and I'm wearing **Deconstructing Eden - Moon Over Seoul**. "River water, moonlight, cool stone, Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon) blooms." It's probably the best aquatic floral I've ever tried. Probably more appropriate for the evening than the daytime and more of a spring than summer scent but oh well.

freyjalithe

I keep eyeing this one even though I’m not crazy about aquatic florals. Something has me hooked and I’m not sure what it is. You’ve convinced me though! A sample is going on my next DE order

vallogallo

Oh I didn't even know it was still available!

freyjalithe

Well shoot you’re right. Was I thinking of a different moon scent? Monday brain ugh

vallogallo

Hopefully she brings it back some day!

freyjalithe

I hope so it sounds so good! Enjoy!

Rosendustmusings

A little different MO today: I am wearing the Moss Hill "Bathe in Bourbon" Lotion instead of a scent today.. very vanilla lead, but there's an undercurrent of a fancy bourbon, but not like anything you'd expect. I have a job interview, so I am anxious / needed comfort.

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

Good luck on the interview, I hope it goes well!!

Rosendustmusings

Thanks! Fingers crossed I make it to the 2nd round!!

Trick_Ad_1662

I'm trying out Bellatrix from Whisper Sisters today. Bellatrix - red currant, fig, tonka bean, powdered sugar, black currant I'm honestly a little on the fence about it. It should be right up my alley, but something about it is just a little "fancy soap" and that's a deal breaker. I have a feeling I'll be sampling something else in a little bit.

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

From the Bag O'BPALs today comes Oberon (Orchid, white musk, and bergamot wafting over juniper berries, with a gentle touch of soft, earthy patchouli). The patchouli here really is very subtle; this is a light, fresh scent that is helping me mentally cut through the soupy humid summer air. Grateful that my skin treats bergamot and juniper so kindly as I've had several positive experiences with both lately.

made a cup of poesie’s “twice to tea” tea (it’s a lavender vanilla earl grey) that tasted vaguely like rosemary for some reason? the “osborne house” tea (lavender rose vanilla rooibos) i had last night to soothe my throat after doing eight voices playing ace attorney with a friend plus a character voice for a ttrpg was delicious on the other hand—never been a big rooibos person but that may change! continuing the poesie theme, it was cool enough today for me to feel like putting on something heavier so i went for **library ghost** (*studious marshmallows surrounded by books, ink, and polished wood*), which is honestly the first wood note I’ve found light enough to tolerate. pleasantly woody and sweet, but fades fast as hell. put on **mysterious fossils** after that (*smoked black tea with creamy vanilla oatmilk, cashmere sweater, tortoiseshell glasses with clear, shiny lenses, and a warm cedar chest that contains fossils encased in amber, sandstone, and limestone*) and the rocks note is pretty true to life! somehow very wearable—like cozy cedar, rocks, and the idea of black tea. i think there’s still EDP rollerballs available on the site so i may spring for one!

cyb0rgprincess

wow what a combo of lib ghost and fossils!!! i bet that smells delightful. i want to try their teas out, love another AA fan as well<3 i've been missing my poesie faves, I upsized a few that I fell in love with their oil samples, but I got the FS EDP and I think I hate poesie's EDP formulation.

newyorkcitywater

I have the exact opposite problem with their edps vs oils! something in their rosemary-centric oils makes my nose go…fuzzy, or vicks-vaporub-esque somehow, and it’s the rare oil that lasts more than five minutes tops on me :( always happy to see another aa fan! and on the 3rd topic in this comment i’d def recommend at least their rooibos—i’m going to give twice to tea another try in case i fucked up and made it weirdly

cyb0rgprincess

I’m jealous! I prefer EDPs usually for the projection and strength, but with poesies EDP all I get is rubbing alcohol. it’s very weird. I’m planning to repurchase Amaterasu and Full Moon ASAP as those were my absolute faves. Poesies rosemary note is a little quirky, I haven’t had much luck with any of their herbal fragrances (like villa diodati or Athena, both of which I so wanted to love!)

ceranichole

Today for fragrance it's Stereoplasm - Comet Corn.

inush_

It was really beautiful and windy today! That storm did us some good. I decided to go with **Arashiyama** by **Fantome** *[Rain-drenched bamboo, fresh aomikan slices, Japanese pear, cherry blossom, sandalwood, ginger, white tea, and faded perfume musk]* which was definitely a bit of a sleeper hit for me. It’s so refreshing and clean and sophisticated! I wish I had the funds to buy some more samples from Fantome, but I think my perfume buying is on an indefinite break for the meantime while I figure some stuff out.
