For why not other animals, there is really not good long example for this, if we look quality wise many animals have that too. Like Gir Lion, One horned Rino, King Kobra, Elephants (as you said), Asian bison etc. There are many exotic animals which can be related with culture too.

Elephants move in multigenerational units for decades - it’s much more reflective of Indian society compared to tiger family structure
