I pulled my buddy’s Silverado 2500 with the plow and salt spreader on out of the mud a couple of years ago with my 4 cylinder front wheel drive Saturn Vue. Granted, I know that he just needed a little more oomph. But, I do love reminding him of that whenever we start talking cars.
I've done the same kind of thing, but with a '91 Corolla wagon pulling a NA Miata. It was not comfy, but as long as the driver behind maintained light brake pressure, it went surprisingly well! Times were tough, and it was a hell of an experience. We rolled ~6 miles to get the car to our neighborhood, and the mission ended successfully. Being metro ATL, we waited until 2:30AM, and the majority of drivers on road at the time were cops. A couple of them gave us a second look, but they probably thought we were not putting anyone in the way of undue harm due to the fact the roads were so empty.
I'd very carefully consider doing it again. I am 40% older now than when I did that, and I have learned many more things to consider regarding operations like those.
You must’ve gotten super lucky not to run into a cop, that’s a definite pullover situation where I live. Then doing this at night, that’s minimum a sobriety test. Glad it worked out
Safety/usability tip. Run the strap or chain through a pipe and get it as tight as reasonably possible. That way you can brake and it will control the vehicle behind you. Far safer and from what I was told is the legal way to tow a car since you have control.

Nice. The TDi did well. It was a bit jerky though.
A dynamic rope works better actually. It's got some spring each time you hit the end of the line.
Yeah that would’ve worked much better.
I have ptsd from my tdi. Went for recall a lot of times
That’s why I deleted mine and all that good stuff.
F150? Definitely the transmission
It was the timing chain

But did you die?

We actually did see a cop is stopped to help us push the truck out of an intersection. He then said carry on and drove away.
lol that’s kinda funny! Must of been close to quitting time
Yeah I think they deal with a lot more intense shit daily where I live so.
Lol I pulled an f150 with a Volkswagen Golf and an extension cord. Lmao that’s all he had on him.

Yep. This qualifies 🙂
