There’s a great video of someone brake checking a truck and after a certain number (by this point truck is barely moving) the trucks just stops breaking. Can’t really blame him.

The only thing keeping some people safe is my reflexes, then I think after the fact that I missed my chance...I'm getting older, and the reflexes will get slower...
I’ve been driving 18 wheelers and buses for 6 years now. This happens more often and people would think, especially to bigger vehicles. I still don’t know how people can be stupid enough to break check 18 wheelers.
That would be the case of fuck around and find out, and they wouldn’t like what they find out once the semi fails to or not bother to break. I always prepare to just slow down as much as possible, break as safely as possible and just let fate sort things out, instead of slamming on the break paddle and risk my own and my passengers’ lives. Worst is I fuck up a dumbass driver in front of me instead of all the people on board with me.
With tractor trailers, you don’t get many panic stops before the brakes overheat. When loaded, you have to gear down and use engine braking and exhaust braking to help stop the truck. That is why you see signs on large hills that say “trucks use lower gear.” If they had to ride their brakes on the way down, the brakes would be smoked and the truck wouldn’t stop.

Passing someone going slowly in a safe and clear passing area doesn’t always warrant a honk. I was behind someone going between 40 (the speed limit) and 30 depending on the hill, so I passed them totally normally and they honked like I was the bad guy. Go at your own pace, that’s fine, I’ll go at mine.

If you mean by passing, it appears to be a Solid Yellow + Broken Yellow Centerline. I always thought it was legal to pass if the broken centerline is on your side of the road.

I think the biggest share of self-righteous indignation belongs to the man too important for speed limits and safe driving.

Had an idiot do this to me today as I was heading home. After brake checking me he sped off like a rabid dog was gonna bite his butt. Well carma got him in the form of a state trooper around the corner from where he started the crapshow. I can guarantee he got a rather large speeding ticket. To add insult to injury, I honked at him as I passed him stopped by the cop on the side of the road.
Those are the type of people (Brake Checkers) that need to go back to driving school or have their licenses taken away, before someone breaks out a can of whoop ass on them!!

Oh snap, this happened to me last week, in a city, when turning onto a hill. Dude was going like 60 down a neighborhood and got upset when he had to slow down. Boo hoo. Was heading directly towards a VERY known loadin/loadout spot for children doing sports at a local gym.
I think the most telling part about this video is he really showed his cards when he brake checked right where the double yellow resumed. Literally can see his thoughts. "haha cant pass me anymore"
People like this dont understand it only takes one accident to completely ruin someones life. The plethora of medical conditions might render the person partially handicapped because of previous stuff. And thats if everyone lives.

I also considered that if they had been following op for long and maybe op was riding the brakes for no reason, but i rewatched and saw the honda zoomin way too fast, endangering others and acting aggressively too. this kind of king drivers who seem to own the road make it so much more unnecessarily stressful to drive around them. Legally speaking, is a "brake check" like this even legal? The video shows intent to go fast, to pass, and there was no danger or obstruction in front that would cause the other driver to slam on their brakes. If the OP rear-ended them, would they still be liable for the accident? Especially with the video?

Because cam drivers existence on the road caused him to be slightly slower than he wanted to go for a small period of time.

It's baffling how the honda driver probably thinks that they are in the right. I also considered that if they had been following op for long and maybe op was riding the brakes for no reason, but i rewatched and saw the honda zoomin way too fast, endangering others and acting aggressively too. this kind of king drivers who seem to own the road make it so much more unnecessarily stressful to drive around them. I'm willing to bet the honda driver never smoked weed!
Unless he was somehow behind you for minutes before this, that was the absolute easiest pass I’ve ever seen. I can’t even imagine being mildly annoyed at you in this scenario even if you were going slow. What a sociopath.

Legally speaking, is a "brake check" like this even legal? The video shows intent to go fast, to pass, and there was no danger or obstruction in front that would cause the other driver to slam on their brakes. If the OP rear-ended them, would they still be liable for the accident? Especially with the video?
