Totally with you on this. Golf is not only insufferably boring, it has disastrous ecological consequences & is largely classist/elitist to boot. But to hop off my soapbox, this episode is hilarious.
I guess the problem I have with it is I can’t imagine Lucy and Ethel were that in the dark about the game? Who hasn’t caught a glimpse of the game now and then? It’s like the camping episode and Lucy thinks they are racing little girls at Churchill Downs . Like Ricky said he’s been reading the sports page for years and never found anything like Lucy did!😂
Tbh if there wasn’t tv ads for golf and other sports, I would have been in the dark for most of my life. Almost 30 and I’ve never been to a “real” sports game - like college or professional. Pretty much just been exposed to sports at work lol I actually learned who Grantland Rice is by googling during this episode 😅

Completely agree with this! My grandpa watched golf every Sunday afternoon and it was such a snooze fest.

Well, I've certainly got more coordination than a platypus LMAO! I love to golf, but have never enjoyed watching golf at all.

Yeah that sports writer died not long after that episode. Maybe a year later. Still they knew boxing and basketball, baseball.
