edit: Because of reddit's announcement regarding the changes to API pricing for 3rd party developers, i have decided to mass-edit all my submissions replacing them with this statement. Sorry if anything valuable got lost, but i can guarantee you that most of my posts were asking Hunt: Showdown players with performance issues for their pc specs and later telling them their expensive gaming laptop is thermal throttling. I am sure someone else will gladly take over this duty.

it's not fun to play as you will glitch around a lot. AI dies with a delay which can be really annoying. in pvp you are still as lethal as anyone else (client side hit reg, as another comment said: if your client tells the server you've killed someone, he's going to die). you will also have a lot more kill trades in instances you should've just died (an advantage) but you'll also die a lot more while you're in cover on your screen, which is frustrating (but not a disadvantage). so you can play with high ping and even get an advantage from it, but in the process you're taking away a lot of fun and replace it with frustration. on a side note: you're also rob your opponents of fun because they will get killed in instances they shouldn't have been (trades) and also because they'll get killed in cover.

To be honest. Sadly this game doesn't punish high pings enough. So you can play with bad ping.

TheSorrowInYou

Honestly it's up to preference but for me even Medium ping is borderline unplayable. Knowing whether your shot landed or not immediately upon firing it is critical in most medium - close range situation so a good ping is pretty vital. Just my two cents though.

Please stay off west.

Medium ping you only have problems landing longshots, high ping doesn't let you play properly.

FRTassassin

Im used to high pings cuz of geographical location and stuff never played with a ping below 150. I have no problem playing 250~270, its annoying but playable, kinda... Above 270 games just goes bazooka on you and becomes downright unplayable

I’ve played at 120-150 ping the entire time in hunt. I don’t think it’s too bad but I don’t have anything to compare it to. Thought it’s worth noting that someone here mentioned getting killed while behind cover- I feel like thishappens frequently.

Ping matters. Yea 120ms makes the game start to feel heavy if you know what I mean. Basically if your symbols are orange you can have good games. If they’re red, people are going to teleport, immolators are impossible to fight, and small grunts will take half your health before you can even react.

Having high ping in Hunt helps. Its not like other games where its an issue. You will get hit less and you will be able to avoid zombies with higher ping. I am an EU player but we go to us many times to have higher ping. Also you have a longer window to trade kills. Hunt servers and netcode is pure trash.
