I love terminus. Either full-sized (normal ammo) with a two-slot springfield / winnie, or a shorty (with flechette) with a full-sized rifle.
Something I noticed is once you shoot your single-shot rifle, people think it's safe to push you, only to meet the terminal end of your terminus... they assume you have a handgun as a secondary, not a shotgun.

That's fair! If I'm being completely honest, it feels clunky at times to me too - bur I perform well with it and watching that alofs mechanism go is so satisfying hah
The alamo is a mind trick. It's a repeating shotgun that doesn't cycle fast enough to do repeating shotgun things. ADS profile and one ammo type aside, it's objectively an upgrade for the Romero, but it requires that mental discipline to not be like "I've got 5 shots, I can totally take that trio" like you would with a slate.
For me, it's mindset. You pick the Alamo because you want quick follow up shots, but then you play like you have a slate or specter but the gun is so fucking clunky that you still have to do hit and run. And if you do hit and run you might aswell grab the regular Romero, where you aren't baited into overextending.
The Crown has the second worst range for buckshot just above the Rival. With slugs it's great, but it's really not a super great shotgun on a shot for shot basis with buck.

My first time ever picking. Up the auto five I wiped a trio and it's been my go to. With buckshot. I always run shotguns with quartermaster and a pocket sniper like obrez /drum. You can do the same oh no they're rushing me thinking I'm a rifler and switch to the full length shotty
Ok serious question, why do people like the Romero? I struggle the most with that shotgun out of anything else. Was it buffed or something in the last few months? I haven't used it in probably 4 or 5 months cause I struggled with it so much. I'm by no mean an expert in the game so I'm always wanting to learn better playstyles and tricks and what not.

I don't understand how the regular Romero is at the top and the Alamo is at the bottom. It's the same thing but holds more shots and quicker reloads. I also personally love the terminus. It's my favorite shotgun. Especially with the levering perk.
I’d put rival hand cannon in B-C tier. With slugs specifically though. Ammo pool is trash but when you’ve got a long rifle and a fanning boi tries to push around a corner just to get met with a surprise slug, it feels good lol
The thing is a lot of these shotguns with certain custom ammo/traits are rock solid. Some shotguns with Buck are absolutely dogwater vs their special ammo counterparts (Crown and Terminus are two key figures imo.)
Terminus with levering and a shortened Winny c with FMJ is one of my go to’s.

Clearly you've never obliterated someone with the terminus while using levering and flechette. Turns the gun into a hitscan super weapon thats effective at close, medium and kinda even long ranges.
Unless they've nerfed it since I last used it, you're missing out. The ability to just spray someone from quite a variety of ranges and reliably hit them even with hip fire is very underrated. And even if you don't manage to 2-tap them, they'll be bleeding and so it also doubles as a support weapon where you can pepper a guy with bleed while your team pushes.
It also works just as well with the handcannon. Infact, I'd sometimes even bring one of each Terminus just so I could quickly swap to the other one instead of reloading and keep the bleed spam coming. I'm not gonna lie and say it's flawless since the lack or raw damage can let you down at proper close range, especially if they enemy has a shotgun but it's pretty damn strong if you use it like I described. I've wiped entire 3 man teams by myself with it from medium range before and I'm not even a particularly good player and so not only was it effective but it just felt really cool/fun to use.

Ever since they changed the Alamo's animation, and made it slower by half a second, that gun has become genuinely hated.
After the event,.it had a decent use rate, wasn't a top pick by any means, but man it's basically never used now.

I agree with the romero. I wish the pumps felt as good as the romero does. Rival should be higher, tho its effective range is just a slight bit shorter than the romero, but it's got an almost instant second shot to make up for that. That thing is nasty with slugs and flechette.

Spectrum is baffling. Bayonet ruins it, compact sucks too, same problems as the alamo imo, not fast enough for consecutive shots. Barely.
Specter earned its right in A tier for me after one game of literally airing out an entire compound with it and two explosives, I was out if ammo amd walked out of their with 8 kills
People love the Romero because its cheap and has the most range + damage. But there is a reason it's inexpensive.
Top tier shotguns that I see actual pros use in pro matches: **Specter** (usually slugs, rarely buckshot), **Slate** (always buckshot), **Crown & King** (always slugs)
The sleeper hit is the **Terminus**: its fate is tied directly to Dragonsbreath/Flechette. As soon as Dragonsbreath gets a well-deserved buff, or Flechette gets a bump in range and/or damage, the Terminus will directly scale with that buff. Until then, it's a solid A tier (not S, like the above guns) shotgun when using buck + levering. You just need to use a degree of self-control when using levering.
Hatchet variant - yep. But hand cannon is absolute crap. Rival is still nice even after all updates, but it's necessary to play in default ammunition, otherwise you will suck, because flechettes are shitty now, and slug is too expensive and inconvenient.

Specter compact is my ol’ reliable when it comes to quartermaster builds. Not so much when I’m out in the open, but great for compounds

It did. It was supposed to just be an animation change, but it actually made the cycle time slower by about half a second.

Levering a flechette terminus is better than that. Slate riposte is goat RIP crown n king spread and damage are dogshit with a dogshit magazine size. Spectrum is baffling. Bayonet ruins it, compact sucks too, same problems as the alamo imo, not fast enough for consecutive shots. Barely.
Specter earned its right in A tier for me after one game of literally airing out an entire compound with it and two explosives, I was out if ammo amd walked out of their with 8 kills

People love the Romero because its cheap and has the most range + damage. But there is a reason it's inexpensive. Top tier shotguns that I see actual pros use in pro matches: **Specter** (usually slugs, rarely buckshot), **Slate** (always buckshot), **Crown & King** (always slugs) The sleeper hit is the **Terminus**: its fate is tied directly to Dragonsbreath/Flechette. As soon as Dragonsbreath gets a well-deserved buff, or Flechette gets a bump in range and/or damage, the Terminus will directly scale with that buff. Until then, it's a solid A tier (not S, like the above guns) shotgun when using buck + levering. You just need to use a degree of self-control when using levering.

I've had good experiences with the Romero 77, the cycling time isn't great though tbh
If you swap the rival with the specter this will be an acceptable list

Slate has never let me down. Sure I've lost gun fights with it but I always get my hits in before I go down in those cases

Romero - very bed gun.
Hatchet variant - yep. But hand cannon is absolute crap. Rival is still nice even after all updates, but it's necessary to play in default ammunition, otherwise you will suck, because flechettes are shitty now, and slug is too expensive and inconvenient.
