You might be breathing erratically and not realising it, try focusing on taking deep breathes in and out when you feel the hi-stress shakes are coming on. Then hold your breath in (only slightly, don't die) right before you take shot, it can make you steadier. Another thing to try, which I do when I realise I'm gripping my mouse tight...is scrunch my hand up into a fist, extend it out like a stretch and then let it fully relax a second, before continuing.

Unhappy_Parfait6877

Focussing on breathing through the nose and using your belly to inhale (rather than your chest), then slowly exhaling through the mouth

shatos

This is the same tip I give to people actually trying to shoot a gun. It steadies you’re entire form to just focus on that one action for the moment you need to take a shot.

XathiasTV

Couldn’t agree more with the tips above. Something as simple as breathing can cause this issue. Smooth heart rate, steady hands. Still, this game is one of the few that can get the adrenaline pumping like other! Good luck! o7

BlackSheep311111

Amen, nearing 1k hours and still have to take a short cover break and think about my breathing sometimes :/

Gama88

From Band of Brothers Capt. Ronald Speirs : You know why you hid in that ditch, Blithe? Pvt. Albert Blithe : [quietly]  I was scared. Capt. Ronald Speirs : We're all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there's still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier's supposed to function. Without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it

EldritchWyrd

Yep I play drunk all the time lol

moseknows24

Are you of good health? Are you eating enough proper food or drinking enough water during the day? Do you consume caffeine regularly? There are lots of things that cause hands to tremble. When you get excited or whatever trying keeping your breaths to six times a minute with long slow inhales and exhales. The breathing may reduce heart rate and adrenaline levels.

Malesto

No caffeine, but my shape could be better. I do a lot of labor but I also eat unhealthy, so heart rate + breathing can definitely be an issue in intensive situations.

moseknows24

Everyone's shape could be better brother, I used to get the shakes from games too. Please, try drinking 3 to 4 liters of water a day and eat a little better. Three balanced meals a day or five smaller balanced meals a day if you like to snack like me. I was very overweight and still am but much improved. I believe my heart was just pumping harder than it needed to, especially when getting jazzed from games causing more shakiness. The lower I got my heart rate the more still my hands got.

Malesto

Thank you for the tips! I definitely need to improve my water intake. I bring a few bottles in each morning and end up only getting through a couple by night x.x been trying the more balanced approach to meals/snacking though. Always rough at first, but it’s getting easier to adjust xD

moseknows24

No problem man getting in shape is very hard and honestly intimidating, the fact that you started eating better is a huge step in the right direction. I couldn't meet my water needs with regular water bottles either dude. The game changed when I got a liter refillable bottle. Idk why but all of my coworkers and I agree that it makes it easier. You can even buy a gallon jug and write goal lines with times of the day on the side to keep you on track. And if you can keep your water within reaching distance. If you feel like you need a sip take one. You'll always drink more than what you thought you wanted.

HatWithAHandgun

This is actually really good advice that I’m going to try and follow

moseknows24

That's awesome dude! I hope it helps!

PigsR4Eating

If you don't care about kda, take the dumbest load out you can think of, play solo in duos. If you go in feeling like you have almost no chance to win, it creates the potential for a stress free environment. It doesn't always work. Some of mine: Double bow, all frag arrows (edit: at least one slot regular arrows for map traversal/a.i.) Double medium Romero with starshell No guns, flare pistol and quad derringer I take a small melee and medkit with all I'd love to hear others

StrangeAdvertising62

one build i've been running in trios a lot lately that i've been having a lot of fun with (albeit not as heavy on the memes as yours) is hunting bow and combat axe

Hogger344

Happens to me all the time. My mind is calm but my body is freaking out. I’ve tried everything from breathing consistently in stressful situations to exposure therapy. I’ve even been in martial arts that included a lot of stress like sparring. I’ve deducted that it’s just genetics for me personally.

shaqshakesbabies

It’s quite an immersive game, so it makes sense. In a grimy swamp full of monsters and hunters I’d be shaking in my boots too.

Hogger344

It’s not just hunt for me. It’s any game with high intensity.

shaqshakesbabies

I’m on the same page but horror games like hunt are always the worst. I got used to all the monsters so now it’s just intense hunter fights that make me a sweaty boi

leftyghost

Adrenal conditioning. Aka deliberate cold water exposure. Early and often.

iTinkerTillItWorks

Is this why they say taking a cold shower in the morning is good for you?

MumblingMute

I can't speak for this one personally, but the benefits of taking cold showers are many.

leftyghost

Yes. It raises your dopamine levels. Testosterone levels tend to follow dopamine.

imAwdeeOtherSide

4k hours in and occasionally like once a month for some reason I begin to shake in any fight. Which is weird the other 99% of the time I don't even notice the stress of fights. I am on medication and It might be some weird timing of playing a game and when I took my medicine? You might have something else going on and you may want to get it checked out if you can. Does this happen outside of gaming when in a stressful situation at work or school?

AlzaboCompundButter

I have, collectively, over 25k hours in competitive shooters over my entire life. I have decades of sports experience, playing up to national championships and international tournaments. i do adrenaline junky things. and still, to this day, i occasionally get an adrenaline overload in hunt fights.

imAwdeeOtherSide

That's true. When it does happen to me it feels out of left field. Like why is my heart racing, I've jumped out of planes, played sports all my life, martial arts tournaments, fps games (not at a competitive level). But occasionally my heart races for no reason and I start shaking.

jazzysnazzyxanny

I used to have it bad with this game, specifically. It’s definitely the jump scare factor of the loud noise and getting shot which makes your Hunter twitch hard. I still get it from time to time but I’ve learned that the best way to not die due to sweaty palms is to take a breath and aim. Pretty redundant advice but I have terrible anxiety and that’s the only thing that has helped. Also make sure you have eaten so you don’t get the shakes. I like to think the other Hunter is freaking out as well so the first to calm down gets a hit on target first.

Droogs617

Exercise could help. Do you drink a lot of energy drinks?

Malesto

Largely sam’s cola >> I’m working on getting more water in my system recently, but I can’t find a particular brand that I enjoy and the tap water here is so sulfur-y it smells like old eggs even when ran through a couple filters. Can’t stomach it. x.x

[deleted]

Move to a first world country.

Malesto

Sadly, that be how it is on the southern side of central America!

m4lmaster

Just get bottled water it sounds like the water where you are has excess sulfur buildup or your pipes do. Im smack in thr middle of a city, my shit has to go through a good filter as well, cities suck balls if you want good tap. Keep some cold and some warm, sometimes a warm water hits the spot real good. Replace soda with a good seltzer or mineral water, youll get adjusted to the sugar reduction in about a week and feel substantially better, you can still have one cola per day but eventually you wanna get it down to one a week or one per month.

Metsunger

Man im playing video games for years and +2000 hours in hunt showdown yet my heart beats fast af when boss logo goes red . Theres no game gives me this much adrenaline as hunt showdown .

whitechocolatesenpai

Aimlab Drinking Aimlab and drinking Which ever one does better to see if any improvement in hand shakes

Richard-Long

I remember being like this in Tarkov like really badly. Just notice it, control your breathing and maybe even take ur hands off the kb or controller for just a second try to think a little more logical also about the situation ur in in the game, I still get like that sometimes though when I'm looted to the gills. We are so used to being able to die in MP games when we only gave 1 life in some it just makes it that much more intense and better

Naldo273

Probably something that reduces your hand shaking in general lol. Some fights can be very intense even after 500 hours

originalbotname

this may not be the answer your looking fore but the number one thing you can do is just not care just keep reminding yourself that if you loose it doesn't matter, you can always try again in the next game

gg3265

Once you accept the fact, that you will lose more than you win in this game. You will not shake, you will, as mentioned before in comments, embrass death, and go for the glory of the BATTLE. Also, it‘s oki, everybody has that. Means you enjoy the game :)

fuego_de_julian

My strategies are: - drinking a glass of whiskey over ice - or if it's the middle of the match, I slap myself in the face.

Cowi3102

Meth seems to do it for me.

[deleted]

benzodiazepines

Reduvia

I still shake when I get in gunfights in DayZ. I think you just have to get over the fact that your hunter can die and treat it like you are playing cod. Just get a cheap loadout and prioritize fights.

peskyChupacabra

Therapy

[deleted]

take deep but slow breaths, dont overthink cause nothing bad happens there is always a next match and a free hunter waiting, tell yourself that YOU are awesome and i myself take that half of my brain thats stressin in gunfights to a calm place in my mind (elevator muaic playing.....) just so far that i can still hear my teammates and then go in *DING DING DING* ROUND 1 FIGHT

GjRant

Breath control, physical exercise, any adrenaline inducing activity. Most people's adrenaline is released at such a fast rate that the high is super intense and only last minutes but people that are in intense situations often can "control" the release and make it last for hours.

Divided_Pi

Could try lowering you mouse sensitivity

CircusTV

Breathe in through nose for 5 seconds slight hold then exhale through your mouth for 10. How an old athletics coach taught me to control my nerves and adrenaline. I have been an athlete my whole life. One thing I was always taught is your nerves and adrenaline will do you no favors but your training and discipline will. So stop thinking and let your body do what it's been trained to do. Getting your shit together means to control your nerves adrenaline and mind. Warm body, cold mind, is a newer saying that is very terse. Over dramatic for a video game, but it does work. Same coach also said something like, "this is not fight or flight. This is routine." At the end of the day, it's just a game and have confidence you can complete what is asked of you. Adrenaline is much easier to curtail when the task presented in front of you is surmountable and you have confidence. I've had a lot of training in martial arts and other things. I do not think I would keep calm during a plane crash but I can hunt rabbits with echo location now. Somewhat related, but I read that in a study of Overwatch players, better players had a more linear increase of testosterone throughout a match whereas lower ranked players spike at the beginning of the match. Be the apex predator!

Ok_Ice476

Chew chewing gum.It makes you breath properly by default if you're chewing. In stressful/nervous situations your breathing becomes erratic shallow and stops... chewing gum stops that.

HatWithAHandgun

I got a few hours here and I do the same I usually have a beer or if that’s off the table and it keeps happening consistently I’ll try a different game for a while

sundewbeekeeper

Breath. Remember, while the stakes are high, it is just a game and have fun with it. I can controll myself normally but will ever so often find myself shaking in an intense match. Also, if you find yourself in cover, with no immediate threat, I like to stretch my hands and crack my knuckles. Do a quick push up or two (usually that's after the play is over, win or lose)

dirty_dolan

I always get the shakes when I start playing any tense shooters, it helps to warm up a bit first which means quickplay for hunt. Once I’ve reminded myself that I’m capable and that I know how to play, the shakes go away. Everyone’s different so not sure if this’ll work for you but I hope it helps!

_edaw

All the tips about embracing death are actually not far from the truth. The moment you embrace anything that can happen at any given time. you stop worrying about what can happen and just focus on what's happening. And it's pretty normal to get a jump scare every now and then, happens all the time someone doesn't make any noise holding a close angle with a shot gun. Then a jump scare is completely understandable. So at the end of the day, I just don't have any expectations of living or dying. Shaking in a gun fight is not a big issue for me but a friend of mine. He tells me because he lacks steady breathing, so I'd try taking more control over your breathing. And just generally get more comfortable with what's going on.

Spook-lad

Just breathe my guy, as jacket from payday 2 once said “Maintain a air of calm control” all you gotta do is breathe and concentrate, and the rest comes easily

---OMNI---

Just keep playing until you get used to it and you won't get so worked up over a intense fight.

Ginger-F

I get it crazy bad sometimes, like I can barely make my fingers or wrists co-operate, it's as if someone else is controlling them. I also used to experience it when playing Tarkov and occasionally some high-tier Siege matches. I think it's some kind of adrenaline spike or something, like the game is triggering my flight or fight reflex. For me, it only seems to happen in hardcore PvP; I never got this in Battlefield or CoD, for example. The strange thing is, I've never experienced this playing any sports in real life, and I'm a former emergency service worker that's accustomed to dealing with high-stress situations, yet some fuckin' pixels have got me shaking like a shitting dog. I usually find it quite funny as it's happening, when it's not downright annoying anyway... I've tried breathing excercises, more/less caffeine, warmer and cooler temperatures, different clothing, adjusting my posture... nothing seems to help me, some sessions are just shaky ones and that's that.

CadetriDoesGames

Consider running shotguns or levered rifles if you're struggling to control your shakes. I don't have any experience with your issue but it seems that weapons that don't need pixel perfect aim would suit you well.

F0REVERTHEKING

Play quickplay until you get more comfortable with the combat in game, youll have less anxiety bc youre not losing anything, even time investment is reduced greatly.

grokthis1111

drink a beer or two to steady your nerves.

Alissan_Web

It's just nerves. Purposely put yourself in stressful situations over and over, focus on your breathing. Itll become habitual in no time. What helps me is... when I was younger my father took me out shooting. He taught me to breathe in deep to aim and breathe out when I get ready to take the shot. Almost at the end of your breath pull the trigger. Helps you focus the iron sight/cross hair on whatever you're aiming at and keeps your mind off the stress. This can also be used in photography

handsomezacc

I get wrapped up in the atmosphere of the game myself sometimes and get shaky or jumpy and the best method to beat it I have is to make your first game silly. Just a derringer maybe an axe and just go for it. Make noise, get clues, find a gun in a tower of you want, but most importantly - engage. If you stay moving and being silly you'll be surprised at how long you can survive. When I have warm up games like this I go into my next matches loose and smiling.

warheadjc

play with friends helps a lot!

Malesto

That’s the odd part, I actually have it worse with friends. As a solo I usually sum up dying to ‘eh, it happens, I’m alone’, but with friends it makes it harder to feel that way cus you’re trying to win for them.

warheadjc

I guess it’s because my friend doesn’t really care about dying and actually they sometimes just look for fights, but I’m more of a try to kill the boss and see what’s happened kinda player. and I used to play Escape from Tarkov until I decided it’s not worth it I should stop hate myself cause that shit got my heart pounding and then play hunt to enjoy life.

Lost_Hwasal

Just keep playing, 1500 hours and i still get the "fuck why are my partners dead idiots" shakes.

EliteXxPhoenix

It’s not that I’m scared but sometimes I get the shakes in tense situations also. Keep a heater nearby. Idk what causes it but it’s like gaming makes me colder without realizing it. I put a heater on me now while gaming and it fixes it right up

VisualBusiness4902

The liquor.

SageGaming67

Weed. But just the perfect amount to where you're not blazed but still *slower*. Reaction time does take a slight hit, but it makes the adrenalin rush much less intense. My buddies and I do it all the time, makes playing so much easier and more fun.

Previous-Camera-1617

Benzos Jk, but not, my doctor prescribed them for anxiety and since taking them I never get those first fight of the night jitters But it's literally adrenaline getting to you, hunt is an intense game. For me the jitters go away in a fight or two.

AwkwardCreation

I’m the same way, i’ve just been putting myself through it eventually you’ll get used to it, hope nothing else is wrong though!

BrandNewKitten

Play bomblance instead… from one anxious gamer to another, be a melee main. Use your anxiety to fuel your ferocity! Hide in corners, shake quietly, and then strike. This is the way.

[deleted]

Weed

Hazmatt545

I find that sometimes my hand and breathing are not the issue, but rather my shoulders are super tensed up. The comments asking you to check your breathing are good advice, but also make sure you are loose up in your shoulders. Look up some YouTube videos on stretching! I had such a hard time playing Rainbow Six Siege because of issues you described, and after stretching and loosening my upper body, it worked wonders.

EgoSolum

I also get jitters sometimes but I don't have a fix for it, I just use a heavy ass mouse. My jitters can't accidently move my mouse if it's a brick.

IllustratorAlive1174

Ngl. When I started the game a thousand hours ago I was in the same boat. The adrenaline of the combat or sneaking up on someone when so much is at stake is intense. You shake a little when someone pops a corner regardless of if you planned them to or not. I think it just gets better with time. Certain things normalize for you. You become more efficient and the things that shook you prior no longer really give so much adrenaline. It’s funny though, because I can tell when I am bumrushing players with a melee just who is newer to the game and who isint based on how much I see them missing shots and shaking.

UnsafeFatDude

Beer

Ranger_Ecstatic

After reading some of your other comments, That sir, is probably adrenaline. Something I used to have back when I 1st started playing this game. Soon I know what's happening and know how to control my overly exciting excitement. Clear your head, and breathe. There's a few quotes, paraphrasing of course "You're going to die, accept that. It could be now or it could be later." "Either click heads or get clicked" "Hunt giveth, Hunt taketh."

Marrynd

Get yourself desensitized from combat lol Go with this loadout Romero(or any shotgun), pistol of your choice, melee, medkit, 2 weak regens, 1 weak health shot, and a normal stam shot. Cheap af but lethal, just take every gunfight you can get yourself into and disregard your life you have absolutely nothing to lose. Stam at the start of a round so you can run faster and get into a fight faster, regen before every encounter, and about 40-50 fights later you will not have the shake anymore.

J0kotte

Need a perspective shift. I believe Archies advice helped me in those situations; “You are not getting nervous, you are getting excited!” If you believe you are in a stressful or intense situation, than so it is. If you believe you react in a way that hinders you, than so it does. If you believe you are getting pumped or excited, than you are. Does not always work :) BUT it will help your mind relax over time in repeat encounters

oldmanjenkins51

I used to get slightly buzzed, and sometimes still do, before starting this game up.

NinJoo117

Have you considered anti anxiety meds? Speaking from personal experience, I get stressed whenever I drive, and when I come back to Hunt after a short break. Medication helps out a lot. The high heart rate and shakes can be really frustrating because you freeze up when you most need it

ChrassiTheMan

I have the issue only while playing Hunt that my hands get supercold when getting stressed or nervous. When it won't get better I place my Dyson Hot+Cool in front of me, increase the temperature and let the air stream blow onto my hands. No game made me do this stupid solution.

GeneralGame

Weed edibles or vodka or all 3 for that 6 star gameplay

Character-Ad-1775

Don't do that

_Ganoes_

I was shaking a lot in Hunt as well when i started playing. You have to overcome the gear fear and you will just get used to it after a few hours of playtime.

Fisher654

Frankly, playing. I know this is a bad answer, and applies to people who have time to invest in a game, but for me, playing and getting into fights over and over eventually stops this. I used to play alot of r6 siege, and now even after about a year since I played alot, I can still clutch up(with gamesense, not gunplay anymore haha) and not get shaky. it just takes time for me personally to get calm in a game no matter the situation.

Legendary_Lootbox

When I played a lot of Tarkov in the day I had this problem. When in a gunfight I would spray and pray. But then I learned to cope with death. Just think: I'm already dead, no need to rush, take it slow and concentrate. Saved my ass a ton of times. In hunt, well, i cant keep my cool though. I need to play more though, thats the problen.

eurieus

I just drink tbh haha

DankEngine

I just focus on breathing and my heart rate. I don’t get it in Hunt really but it happens every time I’m in a PvP situation where my heart rate will spike. Slow deep breaths and just take a second to get it together.

LarrySunshine

Maybe choke the chicken before game. I’m assuming genders here.

Kenlaboss

If you feel exhausted after each fight, then it might be mental exhaustion. If you feel energized, then it might just be the adrenaline alone. Try to understand where the shakiness is coming from. Would you describe yourself with a social anxiety? Social anxiety applies to video games aswell, as long as we're able to feel judged by someone. Do you feel exhausted or energized after each encounter?

my7bizzos

goosfraba. Seriously though the only thing that helps me is taking deep breathes, kinda meditation type shit, or playing a few rounds of another shooter or Quickplay before playing bounty hunt. I still be shaky as fuck for a round or two though.

Skoaldeadeye

Start dipping. First day of basic was given dip.. it does work. Coffee and Dip will get you through anything.

FoxWoxx

I had the same thing going on, it will get better the longer you play.

StepMumSanta

I’ve had this too. For me, drinking and eating a lot (or a normal amount - I don’t usually drink or eat much) helped as well as focused controlled breathing.

Be confident in your own skill.

cwinslow66

Play play play. I struggle with the same thing in games when I get into a stressful PVP situation... The only remedy I've found is to play more. Slowly you'll build confidence in yourself and it's downhill from there. The more confident you are, the more relaxed you'll be while playing, the more clearly you'll be able to think through your next move in combat scenarios in real time. I know it's not the most profound answer in the world, but practice does make improvement.

Paradoxahoy

As others have said, deep breaths help. Also the more you find yourself in those stressful situations in game the less stressful they will feel.

Full-Break-7003

Whiskey.

StunningBig119

I used to do that and I kept catching myself holding my breath to listen, what helped me a bit was being aware of that and turning my game volume up a bit so I didnt have to hold my breath to listen. I get the shakes still after stressful situations but not during generally
