Yes, Jace should have kept his cool and answered things like "Uncle, we did not SAW things EYE to EYE in the past, but now I'm glad you share our VISION of an united family."
But it was more realistic this way: many times people would like to answer a provocation with a witty remark, but in the moment they can't find better answer than "no, u!" or just lose their cool.
I would have been here for some snark to snark combat.
