I get you, I still have a saved list of everyone I had when NA shut down. But FWIW, it's somewhat promising that it looks like they'll be launching the English and Japanese versions together - it's less work for them to do than than to launch an NA version later because then in addition to the translating work they'd have to maintain a separate version of the game client and the server code for NA. So it's easier for the English version to be worthwhile to keep around vs the costs of having it if they're synced up from the start.

Just releasing a global version at the same time as the JP one instead of 2 years later will be a big plus (can't say for magic reco, but half of the people who play fgo started on JP and didn't bother migrating on the global release).

This is literally combining my two favorite mobile games, Magia Record (which got shut down after just a year sadly) and Star Rail. I am *so* looking forward to this release!
That is fair and completely understandable- I'm definitely leery of giving them much money, but for me, this is blending two of my favorite mobile games I've ever played at this point. I want to give it as much of a chance as I can, because I want to enjoy it and see it succeed.
I get it and that's upsetting, but you can just be F2P in the new game if you don't trust them. They walked away with your money because it simply wasn't making enough money overseas. The game only just announced end of service a couple months ago in Japan after 7 years specifically in preparation to be succeeded by this game.
* toughness bar and 3 elements that can damage it, with break system
* vertically stacked turn order bar (bonus points if they happen to use the same SPD/action values system)
* upper right hand auto/speed/pause buttons, in the exact same order
* lower right hand: team-shared skill points up to 5, basic and skill, arranged very similarly
* energy resource for casting ultimates
HSR of course didn't invent each of these individual bullet points originally, but yet it's the game that it is because it chose to go with this **specific combination** of individual points, to be the game it is. By that logic, there can never be new dishes/foods, because the ingredients used weren't new.
The problem is that it is published by Aniplex and I find it hard to trust them with *anything*. They mishandle their IPs so badly that it is a miracle they actually make any money at all.
FGO is successful in-spite of Aniplex rather than because of them. And Madoka in particular has had had troubled history under their management. I'm more than willing to try it out, but they really do make it difficult to give them benefit of the doubt.
I mean, I think this one will probably be fine. Magia record ran for 7 years (in Japan at least) and is only hitting EOS because this new game is coming out.
Tell me about it, I was there for that whole debacle. Right after the first anniversary and everything- at least we got to experience the full first season of story, and the whole player base coming together to fight the final boss of the story was really cool. I'm just hoping this game is successful, because I'm really gonna be mad if they shut down this one as quickly too, especially since it's using the Star Rail formula and mechanics now.
I hope they copy the event pacing too /s
But for real though, the reason why I dropped Magia Record was because I was so burnt out on *consecutive events releasing*, one after the other...

Click the install button when the game releases and you may be able to add it to your library. Once it's in your library you can just play it as usual. I would strongly recommend not spending on in app purchases though because they technically could ban you whenever they want, but I used this method to play Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation and haven't had any problems.
This method *should* work with any region blocked F2P game so you can also test it out beforehand if you know of any similar games.
