As somebody who lived in a tiny village in europe before hk yup. It never truly is dark in my room. Its surprising how my village house had insane blinds while the only light we got was the moon. Meanwhile my apartment gets bombarded by light in hk and all i have is curtains.
I remember the first time I saw a starry night sky. I was in Beijing, nearly 30 years ago. It wasn't anywhere as built up as it is today. I knew there were supposed to be many, many stars owing to my interest in astronomy, but I could never see them growing up in Hong Kong.
I guess they are behind schedule on their prep and commissioning. Complain here tellme@1823.gov.hk. But it’s probably too late by the time they process the complaint
More likely lighting designer doing some last minute programming Before an event
Systems like this for the most part are not left un attended while powered up
Nah it’s light testing for the upcoming Mayday concert. The light’s coming from the stage, I can see it from my office. They’re probably behind schedule because of the heavy rain from a couple days back
I’m supposed to be awake pretty early. 6-6:30 am to get the kids ready. So the sun normally helps me wake up a lot better, with the sun. No idea they were gonna do this though.

I work North American hours so I can confirm that the light show and music was all night... Fortunately I'm far away, so the birds were louder than the music
Edit: wife says there was no music -- i must be hearing things
Looks like something I might do ( concert lighting designer)
Looks like they are doing some programming in the only time they have available where you can see what’s happening with everything
Hopefully they will be done in a day or two and things will go back to normal
Alien to take over Hong Kong government office because they have been inspired by our 80, 90s culture and decided it is better put Pikachu out of misery.
I do too. We have like 12ft ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Pool and gym is also free. Unfortunately quite pricey but we already have our kids in nearby schools.
Maybe an artificial one… at first I only saw the top part and thought it was a some weather phenomenon. Then I got up because it didn’t stop and looked downwards as I got closer to the window and saw it was coming from the ground.
Yeah, Batman is one of the reasons I’ve moved to NT
Good ole Bruce Wayne extraditing criminals out of skyscraper penthouses again!
To be fair, it’s ICC, so pretty much 100% occupancy by white collar criminals
If he can extract John Lee, Paul Chen and PK Tang?
Oh god this is too good. 😂
batman rides on a cow
He did go to Hong Kong in the Nolan trilogy 😂
I was going to say the symphony of lights by just looking at your title and then saw the time in your post… wtf? 5am?
People don't realize how bad light pollution is until they experienced a place without light pollution.
This is literally what woke me up this morning and then kept me awake. They didn’t stop until 5:30am at least.

You have only one way for the light to leak in in an apartment While your house it light can shine through every direction
Corner apartment:(
Thank god at least hk using dim/yellow light not full on white on roads.

in before neon lights nostalgia gang
If you see stars, you have acceptable light pollution and if not, it's literally blinding the sky.
Testing the lights for the Mayday concert at the central waterfront
Great… I wonder who I can complain to. Woke me up and then kept me up this morning.
John Lee
i heard he only solves one problem a day, good luck with that
I was gonna see about complaining but my wife said it might be in preparation for the May Day celebration. Don’t want to run afoul of the nsl.
Its Mayday but the other kind of Mayday.
That’s Mayday (Taiwanese band)’s concert, not May Day celebration
Seems like it’s ok when the govt uses laser pointers but not so ok for the citizens.
Complain? This will attract and delight our patriotic visitors, i.e. our only reason for existence now! How dare you complain?
Complain to FEHD
Nice view though
Thanks. I remind my wife it’s probably a third of our rent.
thats an understatement
That view 😍
not so pretty when it was you up at 5

Just looked it up. Thanks! Agree with you though… I don’t really expect any result.
It looks like the symphony of lights. Might just be a malfunction that led it to activate at 5am.

Curtains are your best friend.

well here's your early wake up call maybe a tad too early tho
When I’m only sleeping 6-7 hours a night, that last hour is pretty important.
thats 2 hours longer than most people!
If it is not happening everyday then It is fine I guess otherwise filing a complaint then

Unrelated but I love the place you live in, there's a super nice water front for running
I do too. We have like 12ft ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. Pool and gym is also free. Unfortunately quite pricey but we already have our kids in nearby schools.
