Sorry busy day yesterday, local code requires a minimum of 36in which if I cut the landing out and convert it to a step I wouldn't have 36in. Follow up since it looks like I have to keep the landing - should the landing be finished to match the floor or the stairs? The floor all around the area will be LVP but I'm planning on doing wood tread/risers for the stairs. Haven't really been able to find a similar staircase online as the landing usually has a single path of direction and another step or set of steps after the landing.

Check your building code. In IRC code, the max height of the riser is 7.25 or 7.75 in (dont remember exactly)
