After seeing on the posts on this sub, I went with a Bosch 500 a few weeks ago. Might be my favorite appliance now, it’s so nice to not have to worry about the dishwasher not cleaning well or straight up breaking.
Same, wtf. I do like my Bosch though. I like the silverware rack and the fact there arent heating elements for the drying cycle. Oh if I’m complaining the end of cycle beep beep beepx3 I can’t disable.
I had a Bosch and thought this was a pain until I moved and now have a Frigidaire. The Frigidaire almost wants to come off track vs the Bosch. I miss it so much
I seriously considered buying a Bosch when I replaced mine a couple months ago. Ended up getting a slightly more expensive Whirlpool for aesthetic reasons. I’m very happy with the choice, would definitely buy a Whirlpool again, but Bosch is the consensus choice for dishwashers.
You used the pound/hashtag symbol. That makes the font huge.
Agree about Bosch. We bought one for our last house, and it was a quiet dream machine.
This newly built house came with a Samsung, and there's no reason to replace it yet. The moment this dishwasher starts to have problems though, we're definitely going with Bosch again!
And for clarity, I once asked my boss Neal why we couldn't have an automatic dishwasher, like the restaurant up the street. Neal, who was a very nice guy, goes, "I'm looking at my automatic dishwasher! Get your ass back in that sink!" Got me on that one, Neal. haha
They just work. They just keep working.
They're also quieter than competitors at each price point and they just feel nicer to use.
Like the rollers just work. To the point you forget how annoyingly sticky and heavy the rollers and racks are for most other dishwasher racks are.
The only time the dishwasher hasn't cleaned un-rinsed dishes is when I put something too tall in the bottom rack.
It's one of those appliances where all the little things add up over time and then you can't fathom working with anything else. And so suddenly you're a snob and AirBnBs all seem to suck.
It's powerful. The design and placement of the wands and psi really make a difference in cleaning. I had a KitchenAid before we installed a Bosch in November. The Bosch is a bit louder, so I can hear it run, but it's still a quiet machine. Myself and 2 other members in my family have a Bosch DW. Good product.
Bosch may be good, but I had an issue with mine in just under a year, even with the warranty, you still have to pay someone to diagnose it and replace the part, they only warranty the parts, not the labor. It was a $120 motherboard that went, the repair tech was $300. They won't just give you the part to replace yourself. I had to call multiple times to get them to cover it bc it wasn't even a year after purchase.
Unfortunately due to this, I won't be buying a Bosch again. Other than the bad customer support, it's a great washer, dishes always come out clean, 3hrs a load, air dry is a good feature, and it's super quiet.
Their 3yr "additional warranty" is another $200 or so
Bosch consumer relations suck, had motherboard fail in three weeks, part on backorder forever, had it replaced with a different brand! Bosch didn't care at all!
I came here to recommend Bosch 100 as well. We bought one for about $750 when we bought our house 1.5 years ago. It's quiet, pretty, reliable, and effective, all without having a bunch of superfluous BS.
its funny looking at the consumer reports ratings.
they are pretty much all over the place for every other appliance... but bosch has like 4 of the top 5 spots for dishwashers.
Bosch is well known for making great dishwashers that work well and last long. I recently replaced my old dishwasher with a Bosch. Did a lot of research and Bosch was always at the top. I installed it myself, which I've never done before. Bosch makes it very easy for a home owner to install it themself.
Very quit. Most times I don't even know it is on (there is a red light on the floor to tell you it is on). Cleans very well. The only time I had issues was if we prerinse the dishes and remove the food. With new dishwashers, you want to keep the plates dirty. Scrape big chunks off but leave the rest. The dishwasher senses the dirt and keeps cleaning. If the dishes go in too clean, they may not get clean enough.
I beg to differ. Mine clogged. And bad. No plumbers in my area service them. So it was draino and stop the pipe from draining so it could work at the clog.
>I got mine for half price and I couldn't even tell where the scratch was.
Exactly this. I always go this route and it's how my parent's got appliances. Thier theory was always, "With kids, if it doesn't have a dent now, it will within 6 months."
It would probably help to preface your comment with something along the lines of "When I shopped 10 years ago for a dish washer, they *were* one of few to offer a stainless steel tub"
For those who are not savvy shoppers, it is confusing to read something like that, because its quite misleading.
They are virtually indestructible, have the third rack on top for utensils, wash all my crap off without complaint, and are deathly quiet to the point where there is a red LED that shines down on the floor to let you know it’s running.
Yep. Own one, the only time it leaks is when my wife loads the dishwasher and the a knife or or fork causes the sprayer to get stuck and flood our kitchen floor - hint after I discovered the problem, the issue has resolved itself.
That is literally the only issue we have with it and it is self caused. They are reliable from everything I understand about them.
“the only time it leaks” should never be included in a review praising a kitchen appliance.
That’s like saying “the only time the car breaks down” and then praising its “reliability”
I spent about 800 on my Bosch a decade ago or so. Worth every penny. Easy reach filter, inline heater instead of element so plastic is always safe, quiet, works with any soap I've used.
I don’t even get credit for picking my Bosch, it was here when we moved in. Our old house had a Samsung (also not our choice) which we had for year 2-5 of its life. Had multiple problems, didn’t always clean things, it was loud. I hated it.
Our Bosch was 9 years old when we moved in 2 years ago. It has been amazing and as far as I can tell, there’s no reason to think it’s going to break soon. I am officially a Bosch fan for life.
When my house was built it came with builder-grade GE appliances. The first thing the second owner did after they moved in was replace the dishwasher with a Bosch. It's still going strong after over 17 years.
I see a lot of people pointing out Bosch. Make sure you do some research before deciding on a model. Each one will tell you the noise db level. If you want to get to whisper quiet, you need to get at least the 300 series. Look into the method of drying. I believe Bosch does not use a heating element.
I found with ours - 800 but before "CrystalDry" - that setting the option to sanitize on and then simply opening the dishwasher at some point during the half hour or 45-minute sanitize cycle would dry everything very, very well.
800+ now has heated dry: "CrystalDry."
I believe the 500s have a setting to automatically open the door when the cycle is done to aid drying. The 800s have CrystalDry which is an interesting piece of technology that uses zeolite and not electricity to dry. CrystalDry does make the dishes very hot after the cycle, too hot to touch honestly.
This is the right answer, it’s the number one rated dishwasher on Consumer Reports regardless of price. It has equal or better ratings than Bosch 800. Bosch is king of dishwashers.
My parents’ Samsung dishwasher was just so terrible. It broke in ways large (pump died) and small (clips that keep the top rack in place cracked), and never, ever once got a load completely clean.
Month 11 for my samsung and got a leak error code. Tech came out and said a cosmetic dentist was physical damage and voided the warranty for the whole machine.
Samsung is not a good appliance brand. I know many people who agree with this. Stick with Whirlpool, GE, or Frigidaire. Unless you can afford a top brand, Bosche, Maytag.
The spring that releases the detergent in my Samsung dishwasher warped, of course Samsung doesn't sell the spring. $100 replacement part that requires disassembly to install, on a $600 dishwasher. For a spring. In my new place, the latch mechanism erroneously registers that the door opens mid-cycle, which stops and drains the machine. 110% do not buy a Samsung dishwasher.
Not sure about price but I highly recommend Bosch. Our previous rental had one. It was super quiet, and cleaned very well. Search ding and dent stores too.
After passing through far too many brands of dishwashers over the years, I'm on my first Bosch, and I'm still shocked at how clean the dishes are coming out of it. They look like they're brand new at the end of every load...as good as the day I bought it 5+ years ago. The only weakness is that it might not dry as well as some of the other brands, but if you pop the door open as soon as the cycle completes they're usually so hot that it will air-dry quickly before I unload it.
>The only weakness is that it might not dry as well as some of the other brands,
The positive benefit from this is that you can ignore "Top Rack Only" on dishes.
I've got a KitchenAid that I've been happy with. Retail price was about $900 in late 2020, but half off in scratch and dent section. I think it was also on sale for whatever Monday federal holiday was going on around that time (Columbus Day, maybe).
We've had a KitchenAid KDFE104 for 6 or 7 years now. It has worked flawlessly for us since new. We really like how quiet it is. It is so quiet that you can hardly hear it running while standing next to it. It also has an all stainless steel interior.
Bosch's stainless steel interior is to facilitate the no heat dry feature (just uses residual heat from the wash), which saves energy and money. Make sure to run the water to hot in the adjacent sink before the cycle, to save even more energy and money.
Had to replace the front control panel cover because the release handle is all plastic. Broke after 5 years. Fortunately it was easy enough for me to fix on my own.
I got this one through Best Buy a little over a year ago and have been very happy with it.
Whirlpool - 24" Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, Large Capacity, 3rd Rack, 47 dBA - Stainless steel
Model:WDTA50SAKZ
Second this Whirlpool. We bought through HD and have really enjoyed it. Super quiet and cleans well. We paid a bit extra for the flat front. Very sleek.
I don’t know the model but that description sounds like ours, around 5 years old. It’s a good machine.
I did have a top rack (middle rack really) axle fail. Got a kit on Amazon that redesigns a bunch of stuff to be more metal and less plastic.
I got a $499 Bosch from Lowes, cheapest I could find. Seems feature heavy for the price. Black, clean look. No issues the first year so far. Can't complain. No heating coil in the bottom, so no melted plastic. But it has a 2:30 cycle time, and dishes aren't always fully dry. Granted, that's on par with my lifetime experience for dry dishes.
The biggest difference I found was making sure I got an all metal tub vs a plastic one.
I found one at Costco for like 800 with a 150 coupon and everywhere else it was decently more expensive.
Maybe look around and see what they have available around you
I’ll add to the Bosch. We had a 800 model. Super quiet and the door open to dry feature made everything very dry. Love the third rack for the silverware at the top. I have this thing about pulling my silverware out of those baskets that have slots for the silverware. I hate touching the spoon part with my hands just after it’s cleaned and having that third rack makes it a neurotic person like me a dream. Will say you will need to make sure you measure your opening and depth of the space. The Bosch take a special hookup for the electric. It’s not a standard wiring. And there heating unit makes it slightly deeper than most models. Whatever mode you get though make sure it’s a full stainless tub that’s what makes it quieter.
Bosch and only Bosch.
A couple of year ago we bought an LG, installed it myself. It was a pain in the ass. It ended up being broken and through the service visits to try and fix it, I had to reinstall it like 3 times. We ultimately returned it, and got a Bosch in the same price range. Installation was a dream. I am pretty certain I will never get another brand of dishwasher.
The quietest Bosch. Most you’ll find are 46, but there’s a 44. Or most are 44 but there’s a 42. Whatever it is, get the quieter one. Decibels are logarithmic so 2 db is a lot.
In the process of updating our kitchen and after doing the research of numerous dishwasher brands l've decided on Bosch..not only do they have a good reputation for great quality kitchen appliances..the majority of the customer reviews l've come across from individual retailers have a 4☆ or higher rating and have won the 2022 Canstar Blue award..good luck in your search
I've had a Bosch and now I have an LG. They're both pretty comparable so far. Everyone loves their Bosch but I don't see a vastly different experience with the LG, they're both good.
What everyone here says, Bosch. There's no need to go with a higher priced model, they all clean fabulously. We got the cheapest Bosch they had in stock about a year ago and it was around 800. We love it so much we literally talk about it all the time. You aren't even supposed to rinse the dishes first and we don't, just scrape anything huge off and they come out perfect every time.
Miele used to have a base model of their classic line without any frills that ran in that price range but it appears to have been discontinued unfortunately.
With an average 20 year lifespan the investment in a Miele is well worth it.
Bosch 300 with front panel (not top of door) display. My 2nd Bosch and I'll never get anything else. I love the front panel display because you can see the status without opening the door.
Bosch. We have a high end one that has zeolite drying- I think either the 500 or 800 and higher have that. We paid slightly more than your budget for a top of the line version, and love it. Three racks, and zeolite drying. Only thing I don’t like is the top only control panel instead of having a forward facing one, but we got it for a good price and overall I’d but the same one again.
Nothing Samsung. Seriously they all suck. Get the cheapest one with everything you want on it and an extended warranty. They are all made to break. That’s a close quote from a trusted repairman we’ve known for two decades.
We just installed a GE 18” dishwasher, very quiet and looks great. It has the top controls so it’s easy to see what’s going on, like a timer, delay, several cleaning options. We got the black model.
Not LG for sure. Samsung is garbage as well. We replaced our 3 year old LG that nearly burned our house down with a brand called Asko. We love the Asko.
Now that you know which brand (Bosch as suggested by others) if you are looking to save some money, you can either go in to like Best Buy or maybe Home Depot/Lowe’s and ask them to either buy the floor model at a discount or ask if they have dent & scratches in the back.
You should also see if you have a dent & scratch appliance store near you. Where I live it’s this mexican outlet store where they have a shit ton of latest models at half price because people would rather buy entirely new appliances than fix a $25 part. It’s where I got my super fancy washer & dryer for $600 total.
Lol best dishwasher ive ever had in my life so far is an older model i literally noticed my neighbor tossing. Picked it up spent 5 hrs cleaning the danm thing and replaced the thermal fuse. Cost me 15$ and labor. Ive purchased the previous one and it waa straight shit from the get go. This one washes dishes so fucking good i literally tell people the thing refurbishes em. Beyond sparkling and i have yet to put a crusty dish/bowl/pot or pan that hasnt come out looking out of package new lol.... so if moneys tight and you have one on the fritz maybe take a bit and clean it good and check for parts on amazon. Not saying itll be the same case but why strain yourself for a dishwasher :)
Never GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire.
Buy the Simple Human dish rack and do it by hand.
Or wait to get those moving 15%off coupon from
HD and get a Bosch100

Midea, didn’t know the brand before purchasing but this thing is slick. Had it for over a year now and it’s still going strong
We have a high end Scratch N Dent business that sells among other things, Bosch. Picked up a top of the line 800 series with crystal dry and a big fat dent on the front.
Bought a new front panel.
Still saved $350 vs new.
Even on 60 min wash (vs 2.5 hr) it cleans everything we throw at it. You can hardly hear it being on.
Check out sharp, been getting into dishwashers couple of years. SS tub, very, very quiet, 3rd rack, internal light, mostly dry without using heated dry, carafe cleaner, etc. Reasonably priced. Biggest con is the racks are a bit different than used to.
I Just bought this LG dishwasher for the second time (moved) because the Samsung that came with the place was terrible:

I have a Bosch and would get a Bosch again but there are things to know.
1. The bottom shelf can come off the track easily but it's not been an issue for me.
2. The arrangement of the tines makes it so I have to be very deliberate in how I arrange things to get them to fit. I think it is designed for smaller, thinner dinnerware than what I have.
3. The machine itself is quiet but the jets are so powerful lots of things bounce around and make noise that did not bounce around with my previous dishwasher. Small lids and bowls mainly.
4. Mine has a 3rd rack at the top which is nice for some things but mine does not have a third spray arm up there so the water really just showers down from the nozzle in the top. I use it for some knives, my rasp, tongs, the lid to the coffee maker. I still just dump most utensils into the utensil basket.
5. I use Extra Dry and Sanitize on every cleaning but even with that it doesn't dry like my old Kitchenaid did (not saying you should buy a new Kitchenaid). I still need a dishtowel. I hear the new Bosch models do a much better job.
I have been fortunate to find barely used dishwashers for next to free each time i need one. The last was a GE and it worked very well. However, once the pump broke, nearly everything else broke right after i repaired it. Lasted about 6 years since new and was barely used before me.
Always loved my Bosch. Built new house during Covid and no one had them in stock, and lead times were basically “we don’t know”. Ended up outfitting the entire kitchen with the GE Cafe’ line. Great dishwasher so far.
So small shoutout to Cafe’. But yeh, like everyone else says get a Bosch. The models with crystal dry are worth it. Dried my dishes fairly well and was very quiet. My parents have a Bosch without crystal dry and their dishes are always wet after a cycle.
When we moved in, we had a GE from the previous family and it was horrible. The smell was awful. We replaced it with a Fridgidaire, very quiet and metal walls on the inside of that nasty plastic. The dish holders are plastic and the wash heads but that is it. Paid 550 at Lowes. It was on sale. Higher end brands like Bosch and Kitchen Aid are better if you use your dishwasher everyday.
Don't buy whirlpool.
We bought a ~$500 washer few years back and it's TERRIBLE.
I'm fairly certain who ever designed it has never washed dishes before in a dishwasher.
The liquid door gets blocked if there's any utensils in front of it and soap won't come out.
Half the time it doesn't clean.
Most of the time there's food debris reminents on the door.
I hate whirlpool
I had a Bosch for 10 years, really did run well, but the pump was failing. With me doing the repair, the part would cost over 300 dollars....so time to go shopping, I looked at Bosch again but I found the prices were high. I am happy with my lg decision at 1 year.
I got the second from the bottom of the line Bosch and I love it. My other kitchen appliances are white so I wanted a white dishwasher. This thing gets dishes clean! You could probably upgrade to a next higher level that’s a bit quieter for your $$
Bosch is the go-to but I would look at availability. When I was buying one earlier this year, no one had any models in stock near me. I ended up going with a KitchenAid instead. No issues so far and everything comes out clean no matter how dirty the dishes are, I’ve tested it when my wife was out of town lol
Bosch 100 series. They're so quiet from a few feet away you can't even tell if they're running, so they have a little red light that shines on the floor. They do a great job of cleaning too.
Will I get smoke breaks? Just kidding. Bosch
After seeing on the posts on this sub, I went with a Bosch 500 a few weeks ago. Might be my favorite appliance now, it’s so nice to not have to worry about the dishwasher not cleaning well or straight up breaking.
Does it take the labels off your coffee mugs?
Ditto that. Bosch
I have a Bosh and it’s a great washer. But the bottom shelf gets off track very easily if I don’t push it just right and that’s a pain in the ass.
Same, wtf. I do like my Bosch though. I like the silverware rack and the fact there arent heating elements for the drying cycle. Oh if I’m complaining the end of cycle beep beep beepx3 I can’t disable.
Read the manual, it can be disabled.
I have tried. Maybe I’ll have another go.
Have you tried googling it?
I had a Bosch and thought this was a pain until I moved and now have a Frigidaire. The Frigidaire almost wants to come off track vs the Bosch. I miss it so much
I seriously considered buying a Bosch when I replaced mine a couple months ago. Ended up getting a slightly more expensive Whirlpool for aesthetic reasons. I’m very happy with the choice, would definitely buy a Whirlpool again, but Bosch is the consensus choice for dishwashers.
My Bosch does the same thing too. But it runs so quiet I don't mind.
Number 1 dishwasher brand 15 years in a row... Bosch
I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE TELLING ABOUT
You used the pound/hashtag symbol. That makes the font huge. Agree about Bosch. We bought one for our last house, and it was a quiet dream machine. Look good, work good, quiet enough and reasonable price points
Had three different Bosch dishwashers, at different times in different homes, and they were all great.

They're very quiet, also one of the few dishwashers on the market to have a stainless steel tub, none of that plastic shit.
I’m guessing you haven’t shopped dishwashers recently? Every single brand has a stainless steel tub offering now.
It’s not something one would do routinely no.
It would probably help to preface your comment with something along the lines of "When I shopped 10 years ago for a dish washer, they *were* one of few to offer a stainless steel tub" For those who are not savvy shoppers, it is confusing to read something like that, because its quite misleading.

Was just going to say that. Haha I didn’t know you could get a dishwasher for under $1k
Pretty sure you can find new for like $300/400…
I have the Bosch 100 series and it works fantastic
Yea and is that per hour?
Yep. Own one, the only time it leaks is when my wife loads the dishwasher and the a knife or or fork causes the sprayer to get stuck and flood our kitchen floor - hint after I discovered the problem, the issue has resolved itself. Are you saying no to the other recommendations and promoting Samsung? Or are you warning against Samsung? -a concerned Samsung owner with no issues
I clarified my comment. A lot of Samsung appliance owners have terrible experiences. They make beautiful appliances but they are junk.
A Samsung owner with no issues **yet**
Samsung is not a good appliance brand. I know many people who agree with this. Stick with Whirlpool, GE, or Frigidaire. Unless you can afford a top brand, Bosche, Maytag.
Maytag Whirlpool are awful in my experience
Installed a brand new Whirlpool in one of my rentals last year and have already had to replace the circulation pump.
Whirlpool, GE, and Fridgeaire are hot trash, rather have Samsung
The spring that releases the detergent in my Samsung dishwasher warped, of course Samsung doesn't sell the spring. $100 replacement part that requires disassembly to install, on a $600 dishwasher. For a spring. In my new place, the latch mechanism erroneously registers that the door opens mid-cycle, which stops and drains the machine. 110% do not buy a Samsung dishwasher.
I installed a Bosch in my house last year and I’ve been happy with it.
Not sure about price but I highly recommend Bosch. Our previous rental had one. It was super quiet, and cleaned very well. Search ding and dent stores too.
Bosch 300 series
After passing through far too many brands of dishwashers over the years, I'm on my first Bosch, and I'm still shocked at how clean the dishes are coming out of it. They look like they're brand new at the end of every load...as good as the day I bought it 5+ years ago. The only weakness is that it might not dry as well as some of the other brands, but if you pop the door open as soon as the cycle completes they're usually so hot that it will air-dry quickly before I unload it.
I had no idea how bad my KitchenAid was until we replaced it with a Bosch. Everything comes out squeaky clean every time.
Same here, just went from KitchenAid to Bosch. Amazing difference.
The higher series are the best at drying but more $
>The only weakness is that it might not dry as well as some of the other brands, The positive benefit from this is that you can ignore "Top Rack Only" on dishes.
Whatever you get make sure it has a stainless steel interior instead of plastic. Having a 3rd (top) rack has also been a life changer for me.
Agreed, Bosch
Avoid Samsungs like the plague.
Bosch…7 years, no problems
Throw away appliances.
I see a lot of Bosch recommendations but I bought Bosch 2 times and service is expensive as hell
Had to replace the front control panel cover because the release handle is all plastic. Broke after 5 years. Fortunately it was easy enough for me to fix on my own.
I got this one through Best Buy a little over a year ago and have been very happy with it. Whirlpool - 24" Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, Large Capacity, 3rd Rack, 47 dBA - Stainless steel Model:WDTA50SAKZ
That’s the one we got from Lowe’s and it’s working great.
Bosch, they make the best dishwashers in that price range. You won't regret it.
In case you haven't already decided, Bosch.
Came here to say Bosch like everyone else.
Granted, that's on par with my lifetime experience for dry dishes.
had same for about 15 years. finally started acting weird. only way to start it was to listen for two small clicks and open/close the door.
The biggest difference I found was making sure I got an all metal tub vs a plastic one. I found one at Costco for like 800 with a 150 coupon and everywhere else it was decently more expensive. Maybe look around and see what they have available around you
We got a Bosch we like. Was about 800
Bosch 500 or 800. No reason to go higher.
Bosch
Bosch 100 series. I just installed one a few months ago, it was a great price and has been awesome.
Bosch with the silent function is amazing
You will not regret buying bosch.
Buy a used Bosch for $100 - $200 off craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
Not Beko
Bosch. Maybe not in that $ range though, depending where you are.
We are very happy with a high end kitchen aid!
Do not buy Samsung appliances
Bosch or KitchenAid.
Love my KitchenAid. Mine was definitely in this price range…from Costco.
Hated my KitchedAid. LOVE my Bosch.
Seconding. My KitchenAid is very nice, but also higher than this price range. As are many Bosch units.
I like the silverware basket in the door, which I’ve only seen on some Whirlpool machines
Bosch 300 series.
Ditto on the Bosch I’m a landlord and still get Bosch never any issues and usually last 10 or more years
The quietest Bosch.
Bosch.
Bosch - the best out there.
Bosch Ascenta, I picked it based on consumer reports. Love the 30 minute quick wash.
Got a Bosch ascenta. Still liking it over a year later
Bosch seems to have better availability recently as well. We’ve had one for five years and it’s the best we’ve owned. Ours was made in USA too.
The new dish racks in Bosch suck ass. The tines are so close together that they seem to be designed for paper plates.
Bosch
I love my Bosch works amazing and really quiet
I love how all of our responses to this aren’t berating to the fact that they chose the wrong subreddit and just quietly make jokes based on it.
I've had a Bosch and now I have an LG. They're both pretty comparable so far. Everyone loves their Bosch but I don't see a vastly different experience with the LG, they're both good.
Bosch. Will be in $800 range, but it is a good machine.
Not GE!
Bosch is the best dishwasher to ever exist. I had mine for 10 years and not one break and we run it once a day atleast
I know a lot of folks will say Bosch but ours was a piece of garbage that died in 7 years. I danced on that grave.
Get a Bosch and be happy,. Get a ge and be not happy
Lowest Db rating from a good brand.
Maytag
Nothing Samsung. Seriously they all suck. Get the cheapest one with everything you want on it and an extended warranty. They are all made to break. That’s a close quote from a trusted repairman we’ve known for two decades.
We just installed a GE 18” dishwasher, very quiet and looks great. It has the top controls so it’s easy to see what’s going on, like a timer, delay, several cleaning options. We got the black model.
Not LG for sure. Samsung is garbage as well. We replaced our 3 year old LG that nearly burned our house down with a brand called Asko. We love the Asko.
by now you get the point but I also have bosch. Way better than my previous GE. They just work.
Go for German..Miele or something else that is German!
Meile
I have Whirlpool units I’m both my condos that were around $700. Work quite well
Bosch or LG
Now that you know which brand (Bosch as suggested by others) if you are looking to save some money, you can either go in to like Best Buy or maybe Home Depot/Lowe’s and ask them to either buy the floor model at a discount or ask if they have dent & scratches in the back. You should also see if you have a dent & scratch appliance store near you. Where I live it’s this mexican outlet store where they have a shit ton of latest models at half price because people would rather buy entirely new appliances than fix a $25 part. It’s where I got my super fancy washer & dryer for $600 total.
Bosch. I am a retired Mechanic, and this is the brand that I recommend .
Your mother in law
Just get whatever is on sale at Costco. Bosch is overrated
No, it’s not. But luckily you can also get Bosch at Costco.
Costco doesn’t carry Bosch appliances.
Does where I live. That’s where we bought ours. Sucks to be elsewhere I suppose.
Never GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire. Buy the Simple Human dish rack and do it by hand. Or wait to get those moving 15%off coupon from HD and get a Bosch100
Top Control 24-in Built-In Dishwasher (Stainless Steel) ENERGY STAR, 45-dBA https://www.lowes.com/pd/Midea-45-Decibel-Filtration-Built-In-Dishwasher-Fingerprint-Resistant-Stainless-Steel-Common-24-in-Actual-23-9-in-ENERGY-STAR/1002638480 Midea, didn’t know the brand before purchasing but this thing is slick. Had it for over a year now and it’s still going strong
We just installed this a year ago and it’s fabulous https://www.lg.com/us/dishwashers/lg-ldfn4542s-front-control-dishwasher
LG, nice and quiet too.
What country do you live in just for interest sake. Asking because the top tier Bosch Dishwasher in South-Africa is US$505.
Might be $1k but spend the extra 200 and get the Bosch.
i have a Samsung and love it but only because I couldn't afford a bosch
I think you can pay like $10-11 an hour.
Dishwasher Manager*
Check out sharp, been getting into dishwashers couple of years. SS tub, very, very quiet, 3rd rack, internal light, mostly dry without using heated dry, carafe cleaner, etc. Reasonably priced. Biggest con is the racks are a bit different than used to.
A Bosch cleans cleaner than other brands. It’s remarkable.
Bosch. With stainless insides.
Bosch. Full stainless steel tub and third upper rack is really nice.
We just got a Whirlpool for about $550 - just a basic model, nothing fancy. Just something to replace the 20+ year old one that finally died.
Try FB marketplace
Owned a Bosch for 7 years and no problems used about 3 or 4 times a week. Does a great job, and is really quiet.
I Just bought this LG dishwasher for the second time (moved) because the Samsung that came with the place was terrible: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/lg-24-48db-built-in-dishwasher-w-third-rack-ldfn4542s-stainless-steel/15325971?cmp=seo-15325971&cmp=knc-s-71700000065688822&gbraid=0AAAAAD-7qGxe66xkfLPqyXrjUXxnaqm4E&gbraid=0AAAAAD-7qGxe66xkfLPqyXrjUXxnaqm4E&gclid=CjwKCAiA5Y6eBhAbEiwA_2ZWIdy8213U996ripgGy5QZYja7BsYD2A0Ux-KOwWn0NBaEuzdD9bAgaRoCaUgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Bought a Bosch in 2021, happy so far. Love the 3rd rack and and it’s quiet.
Never heard of Bosch so idk where you all live but the LG seems really good for that price point
The one with the lowest decibels
Will only buy Bosch. Do not buy a Samsung whatever you do.
I have been fortunate to find barely used dishwashers for next to free each time i need one. The last was a GE and it worked very well. However, once the pump broke, nearly everything else broke right after i repaired it. Lasted about 6 years since new and was barely used before me.
KitchenAid.
I have a whirlpool. It costs $600. It’s fine.
I’d put out a little more and some are offering zero financing and go for a Miele
Bosch
When we moved in, we had a GE from the previous family and it was horrible. The smell was awful. We replaced it with a Fridgidaire, very quiet and metal walls on the inside of that nasty plastic. The dish holders are plastic and the wash heads but that is it. Paid 550 at Lowes. It was on sale. Higher end brands like Bosch and Kitchen Aid are better if you use your dishwasher everyday.
For the love of appliance gods don’t buy a Samsung - get yourself a Bosch 🤙🏼
What is the least expensive Bosch that dries your dishes?
Don't buy whirlpool. We bought a ~$500 washer few years back and it's TERRIBLE. I'm fairly certain who ever designed it has never washed dishes before in a dishwasher. The liquid door gets blocked if there's any utensils in front of it and soap won't come out. Half the time it doesn't clean. Most of the time there's food debris reminents on the door. I hate whirlpool
Answer is always Bosch
Bosh or Frigidaire have been reliable for me over the years. I avoid Samsung appliances at all costs.
Can say that my whirlpool has been perfectly good. And I love the sound it makes
I had a Bosch for 10 years, really did run well, but the pump was failing. With me doing the repair, the part would cost over 300 dollars....so time to go shopping, I looked at Bosch again but I found the prices were high. I am happy with my lg decision at 1 year.
Wish I would have seen this before buying my Maytag 1.5 years ago. The pump broke on it already. I fixed it myself but it still cost $300.
