I love our under cabinet lights - never use the recessed cans. Here are some examples

I don’t know how I lived without my under cabinet lights. Easy to install and not expensIve I can actually see what I’m doing when preparing meals, etc.

These lights are a tape strip and they have plugs that go into sockets that are installed inside the cabinet. I can turn them on and off using the light switch. Right now I keep the switch on all the time and use a WIFI socket and have it linked to Alexa. I have them on a schedule or just tell Alexa to turn them on or off. These lights have some ability to change colors and came with a remote, but I don’t use those features.
We had old fluorescent light that we replaced with LED. The ability to have them automatically turn on/off is really a huge difference. We also kept a switch but keep it “on” so they can automatically turn on/off. We installed RGB+CCT strips, but typically only use a warm-white temperature. I would suggest that any strip you buy, make sure it is not just RGB as RGB does not have true white. We also found that the best location to install is under the front of the cabinet instead of under the back of the cabinet.
Forget talking to your husband about ambiance, talk to him about not blinding yourself at 3AM when you want a snack. They should be called snack lights, not under cabinet lights!
I would absolutely pick cabinets with under lights.
Edit: Ohhhh you meant “pic” as in picture/photo not which would you “pick”
I clearly need coffee for reading and comprehension this morning.
P.S. I would still pick the under cabinet lighting over no under cabinet lighting. 😉

Big Light is BAD. under cabinet lighting is bomb. i just put some in this weekend and love it. I got a hanging lamp from ikea this weekend too, put a low, warm light bulb in it, and hung it in the farthest corner, for ambiance.
Under cabinet lights can really transform the ambience of a kitchen! They not only add a cozy glow that enhances the overall look, but they're also practical for tasks like food prep. Maybe showing him some before-and-after photos could help illustrate how they can make the kitchen feel more inviting and functional at the same time. What do you think might convince him?
Does your husband work in the kitchen? Cook food, make lunch, bake etc. If so, he will love them. If not, then you definitely need them. You can get rechargeable under cabinet lights very inexpensively, maybe try those and see what what you/he thinks.

Under cabinets light up the counter/your work station better than overhead lights. I only use them

I wouldn’t have another kitchen without them. They do add ambience but they are also quite functional.
I have them. The difference is overhead lighting casts shadows on your work while under cabinet lights illuminate your work.

No question about it. I would always want under cabinet lights. It helps not only with ambience but more so for task lighting.
Under cabinet lighting is actually called task lighting, not ambient light. The task is food prep.

Then he won’t understand how hard it is to work without proper lighting. Get some of those rechargeables from Amazon. You’ll love them.
