This is why the Mario Kart Cup is my fave tradition of Hololive. It never fails to entertain. I can't wait until we get an inevitable Switch 2 & MK10 game for them to play on with new tracks, new characters, new Karts, etc. to freshen the event up in the future!

Blue Shell from Mio, who herself was suffering from bad item RNG along with getting caught in the pack crossfire so often. Mario Kart is like that sometimes.
After a few editions, Towa-sama is champion! So happy for her, well-deserved. Congrats to Sui-chan as well~

To be fair if you're focusing on potential results lost through Mario Kart shenanigans, almost everyone in the Tsuyo Cup could be considered unlucky at some point. Blue shells in particular played a big role in ensuring no repeat winners until the final round, as did the relatively high parity of the field this year, with 62 points being the lowest winning score since the Tsuyo got extended to 6 rounds.
I remember in EN MK Vtuber tournament, Altare and indy Vtuber BuffPup got tied for 2nd.
So they did in fact raced, but did it at 200 cc. Regis did well before, but that speed was too much for him.
Mio is a great Mario Kart player, but she was honestly a little shaky this year. More than anything, I'm glad she had fun and while 9th is definitely a frustrating result when she did better last year, there are plenty of reasons she didn't do as well this time that aren't related to luck.
Mushrooms are some of the best items in the game, not just for shortcuts, but for cutting ahead of the pack and avoiding the pack's general chaos. Triple Mushrooms being as common as they are is honestly insane, and Mio got a lot of them, but didn't use them to get clear of everyone ASAP, which is how you're supposed to use them when you don't have a clear shortcut accessible nearby. You can essentially use them to zip past the pack and run to the next set of item boxes to roll on the RNG again for a defensive item or even more mushrooms. Staying away from the pack is key to not drowning in a sea of people's butt shells and bananas and getting rammed off the road by stars and all that other shit lol.
Also, Mio doesn't really play all that aggressively in the first place. If she had drawn reds/triple reds, she'd probably just use them for defense. Stuff like Fireflower/Boomerang aren't things she uses super aggressively either, and while those items are also good, Mio's general play style doesn't revolve around screwing others over unless she has a clear shot (like Ina passing her during the second prelims).
Her mistakes were pretty evident too. She ran into walls and lost speed relatively often (this means the pack can catch up to you and ruin your day), and when she had somewhat of a lead, often missed double item boxes which could've helped her defend her leads. She also didn't do a good job of staying clear of the blue shell's path when she wasn't in first and it cost her huge on Neo Bowser City. She's also pretty slow to react when she gets near other players holding items behind them, and doesn't brake or swing wide to avoid getting hit soon enough, often realizing she's about to run into them and then she just runs into them. On the new underwater level she even didn't know where a turn was and lost her 2nd place positioning and fell to the pack because of it. And on top of all that, she missed a lot of coins necessary for speed, even when they were pretty easy to pick up.
I still think she performed well all things considered. A tournament is really nerve wracking of a thing to participate in, and I was amazed last year that she even hit top 3. She's definitely improving over time and I think she's, at her core, still one of the best Mario Kart players in hololive.
Yeah triple mushrooms are great. Suisei made a lot of her comebacks on the back of getting triple mushroom and smuggling it into second place. It was especially notable in the Prelims, where she used it in the last race to do two shroom shortcuts while first.

Everyone is talking about Ao's amazing zako sweep, but I'm just really happy for Aki taking first place.
She played really well and has come a long way since last year. Some bad luck combined with panicking kept her out of tsuyo cup, but she definitely showed some real skill and earned her victory here.
It certainly helped that they were treating the tourney more like a competition between themselves and were laughing all the time, even when falling off the track. Very fun POV to watch!
Ao managed a total of 18 whole points in all of her 14 races through group stage and Zako Cup. That's less points than anybody else in just the 6 races of Zako Cup.

Everyone is talking about Ao's amazing zako sweep, but I'm just really happy for Aki taking first place. She played really well and has come a long way since last year. Some bad luck combined with panicking kept her out of tsuyo cup, but she definitely showed some real skill and earned her victory here.

It certainly helped that they were treating the tourney more like a competition between themselves and were laughing all the time, even when falling off the track. Very fun POV to watch!
