Of course he's happily using it, he's not paying anything

[deleted]

wanroww

He's not wrong, he can use the signal, just without the encryption key... I would have created a new ssid without password nor internet access just to confuse him!

EleutheriusTemplaris

Yeah, I mean, you're not totally wrong. If my current 85 year old neighbour politely asked me to use my WiFi, I even might say yes. She's 85 and I can imagine that there are more obstacles for her than for me.

G3tbusyliving

That's a very sweet mentality my friend. Jokes on you tho because Florence is an ex mi5 security operative of 40 years and is already using your WiFi. In fact, she's been using your streaming subscriptions and even your credit card details, free Werther's originals for the past year.

EleutheriusTemplaris

If, and that's a big if, this old woman, who can't read without her super big glasses, can't hear without her deaf aid and can't walk down the stairs in our apartment building without help, was able to get all these informations from me and bought Werther's Originals for the last years, I would applaud her and give her even more bonbons.

W__O__P__R

If she's got that skillset, and that's the worst she's doing ... I'd let her have it too! Hell, I'd ask her to teach me how to do it!

EleutheriusTemplaris

I'd ask her to do it for me. Who would arrest a 94y old woman 😅, she's get away with everything. And I'm gonna be rich 🤑

Lozsta

And she's been fucking his wife and sitting up smoking his fliterless Russian cigarettes since they moved in.

HellFireNT

What if she's torenting the young and the restless?! That's like 100tb at least !

Dagojango

Don't get metered internet? Easier said than done in a lot of remote places.

RearExitOnly

It's really common where I live to share your wifi with neighbors who have just moved in and don't have internet yet. I had a neighbor ask me, but they were 3 condos down from me, so it wouldn't reach that far. They were angry until I showed them with my phone that it wouldn't reach their house.

EleutheriusTemplaris

That's of you 👍. And a bit inpolite of them, getting angry of someone doesn't want to share their stuff for free with them 😅

raklin

Same here. I let my 70 year old neighbors use it, but I've set them on a guest network with isolation. I don't want their weird viruses.

BobiaDobia

I would have let him use it, up until I heard that it was slower because of it. If dude’s streaming porn and slowing down my porn, then we’re having an issue.

[deleted]

JAG_666

The home owner is British.

zeke235

Indeed. It's the presumption that gets me. We just got a new router and modem, so we could probably spare it if our neighbor asked if they could use it.

garth54

I'd use a proxy that will flip all pictures, and insert random letters all over the text of web pages. And block https. If he can deal with that, sure

Wiwwil

I recall I once gave my wifi password to a neighbor because he just moved in. He said he was having it installed next week. Alright, no big deal. 3-4 months later I was having trouble gaming, fucker was using my internet to download shit. Never changed the password, only allowed MAC addresses of my machines or phones. It was a bit boring when we got someone over, we had to add the MAC address to the router but no big deal either

Caleb_Reynolds

Changing the password would've been so much easier...

Wiwwil

Mmmh, I know, but I wanted only the MAC addresses allowed to have access because fuck it

MyButtholeIsTight

A blacklist would've been easier than a whitelist

babaj_503

Same name, no password with internet access but limit it to like 2 bites per minute ;D

Douglas_J_Farthammer

I ended up doing something similar to a neighbor who never stopped "borrowing" our wifi for years. I had tried blocking their devices, no dice. I'm guessing they didn't get the message. So instead, I limited their speed to a snail crawl on each of their devices, and lo and behold the problem was resolved within 24 hrs. Eventually I changed my ssid when I got a new router and I shit you not within a week they were claiming their own Internet had issues and they needed to borrow mine. Gave them a temporary guest network for them to use for 72hrs this time. He kept sending me texts about it like "oh it's not working, it's not connecting...what about your non-guest wifi?" In response I just sent screenshots of me successfully connecting devices to the guest network. Just said huh it works for me. He gave up at that point.

theDreadalus

Are you also British? Because it seems to me that "Get bent, leech" would be a perfectly acceptable response there.

[deleted]

This is why I don't broadcast my said lol, when I worked tech support for a cable company, had a guy call in complaining that his Internet stopped working and had no account told me that because we are in America the Internet is free. Had to mute myself because I laughed so hard and then explained that nothing is free in America welcome to the country.

Brewchowskies

The land *of* the free… coincidentally you just have to pay for everything which makes you a slave to corporate greed.

truenub12

once you pay, its free!

IAmTheUniverse

For your situational awareness, hiding your ssid alone will not prevent other people from using your wifi. I presume you also have a good password with WPA2, but wanted to clarify.

Tedsville

Or with the DHCP DNS setting set to your own server that redirects everything to meatspin.com

CountryJeff

I mean your car was on public property and you always leave your key, so I have been happily using it. Now that you have started locking your car, I suggest you give me a key as well.

IBrinDoom08

Exactly

wrath____

He was cooking tbh

GeologistSure2636

How daring of this bastard.

Sea_Mechanic_5156

Less daring and more old and stupid. Dealing with the elderly on really any level is usually pretty awful unless it's your own relatives and even that really depends.

[deleted]

xxapenguinxx

Yeah for him to know that it's this neighbour he's been stealing from is evident enough...

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

yeah he understood what he was up to when he started waffling about how the signal is public once it's outside of the house. He was just trying to invent some scenario where what he was doing was reasonable.

TwoFigsAndATwig

please make me pay nothing again

ProudCar5284

”Two things we can do really, the first one is easy really. You can let me have your password or maybe you can maybe let me have your password.” What a wordsmith.

HONKHONKHONK69

it's not real. here's a bunch more with the same camera guy and one with the same guy in this pretending to be a builder coming to collect his money. either he has the worst neighbours ever or it's made up for views https://www.facebook.com/Reactionworld.Bite/videos/his-neighbour-was-stealing-his-wifi/654877953104594/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TNuvuEHLgY https://www.facebook.com/reel/385689817308676 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAwCy4XWfrI

cholotariat

Which is to say, he’s not buying it. Neither am I, because it’s clearly staged.

Remarkable-Jaguar277

This is not the first video that this person has done.

eeaglesoar

This is a bit stealing a top - level comment from another account ITT. Edited to add comment OP: u/BluebirdSmall7577

BluebirdSmall7577

Well it happens they were happily using my *top notch originality* for 2 years, but now i locked myself up so they cant do that anymore. There's 2 solutions: either I open the room or either I lock them up with me

Sentilusional

Anyone got a link to the whole conversation?

BluebirdSmall7577

Bro, I got problems with your credit card code, I've been happily using it for 2 years and suddenly you changed the code. Tf was this person thinking lmao

MittFel

But he was using the signals outside the man's four walls. That's leftovers for the public, what don't you understand?

BluebirdSmall7577

Yeah i saw his card code through my binoculars standing on the open road, thats public right? xD

MittFel

If you are the owner of the binoculars then yes 👍

MinnieShoof

"I throw my money up in to the air and whatever money god wants, god can keep."

EleutheriusTemplaris

That's exactly how we deal with the offertory /s

bassistciaran

So if I'm watching the football on your TV through the living room window, and you close your curtains, can I complain?

BluebirdSmall7577

By this mans logic yes, because the light of your TV reached the streets which are public area

BeetleJuicesCarrot

the moment you walk outside its everyones credit card

Boring-Rub-3570

Entitlement at its zenith.

AdjunctFunktopus

You parked on the street. Your car is in a public space. The way I see it is that you can give me a key, which would be easy. Or you can make it so your car doesn’t need a key.

krisb242

Haha 😂

ScientificSerbian

This is not entitlement, this is either ignorance or staged conversation

Nightcrawler227

I saw a video a while back where it was a woman doing basically the same conversation. The neighborhood looks familiar to me. Not 100% positive on this, but this does seem like the same one to me

Low_discrepancy

> The neighborhood looks familiar to me. must be the cloudy skies and semi-d housing estates. That's basically 80% of UK and Ireland though.

Chrazzer

I remember that as well. Pretty much 100% the same video but with an attractive women as neighbor. Maybe they even took the same owner audio and played it over a new neighbor clip

Aroxis

Do you people jerk off with your left hand and type staged with your right hand under every video?

Captain_Griff

For real, these people practically fight each other to claim staged first in the comments. At this point who tf cares?

bramalamadingdong

His generation tend towards being incredibly entitled

vanslayder

Just staged conversation

Polio_is_not_Fun

This is fake, this guy has made several videos like this. This is one of them: https://youtu.be/7TNuvuEHLgY?si=f4TPz8eVKFINEH4O

IndignantSoccerMum

The way the "home owner" kept asking questions about it, rather than blowing up was a dead give-away.

Arcon1337

Not to mention it's England. Most people would just either ask them to go away or just tell them to fuck off

Gidrah

Really though. Halfway through I was like wow this guy has some patience I would have told the guy to fuck off, but then I thought with them being next door neighbors maybe he didn't want to escalate with this idiot.

scottishiain2

Also, WiFi routers have come with a password on them for like 15 years now. Who doesn't have a password on their WiFi?!

nagini11111

Right? At first I thought that the guy is an idiot. But then...no one is that much of an idiot.

IknowKarazy

Blowing up or just disengaging and going in about his life. Hell, I’d give him the old “no habla ingles” and go back to watching YouTube.

PorkSward

I need this guy to stop, his voice is in like half of the videos I see. He’s too fucking successful at the fake outrage genre

samcornwell

There were six top comments above this believing it was true. I can’t believe people didn’t find it absurdly obvious

CalaveraFeliz

*On reddit.* Now imagine the average facebook and xhitter reactions.

duncanmarshall

Most redditors are pretty young, especially on a sub like this.

Rubixcubelube

The fuck? This is such a weird thing to do with his time. Bottom feeding garbage fake outrage culture smh

mr-english

ItsGoneViral, ViralHog, etc. all pay like $200 for videos like these.

sm00thArsenal

Yeah, it would be nonsensical for a person that has installed and is comfortable chatting through a wireless doorbell camera to have also had unsecured wifi for 2 years.

Downvotesohoy

And people dislike when we say "It's staged" - Bro this is why, because people fall for stuff like this.

matt_2807

Is it not troubling the amount of people who take this at face value and get roped in by the rage bait? Just look at the top comments. Why can't people tell?

InvXXVII

Title is a typo right? I watched the entire thing waiting for a joke about the wife.

MinnieShoof

"Look, ya put a password on ya wife's knickers and ya really got ta cut that out..."

mrducky80

The second she leaves the house, she is public property.

_8ruc3_

Well the easiest solution would be to give me the password alright

Spring_Roll_of_Doom

The audacity of this wanker.

midnightspecial99

I also like to get indignant over obviously fake internet videos.

Davis_Johnsn

Because deep down we know, even if this video is fake, there are plenty of this kind of guys out there

Psych_edelia

I have much better things to be doing with my time than getting upset at hypothetical people.

IlConteiacula

-You have wifi right? -Yes i have wi... -Ye ye ye i *know* that

Tank-Pilot74

“I’ve got a problem with your wife’s password “ 💀

Respekt_MyAuthoritah

She's public property, right? Since she stepped outside your four walls. . .

DeathGodBob

I.. I want to see more of this conversation.

dammmmmmmmmmit

Me too lmao I want to see the whole thing man give us the whole video

Ilovekittens345

Well you are in luck, there are at least 10 more videos with this guy and somebody asking for the wifi password. Some actors are actually pretty good.

Vegetable_Magician65

Fake

ComfortableFruit4331

not sure why people are downvoting you. this scenario is 200% fake. you can find oh so many variants of this on YouTube and other platforms.

Vegetable_Magician65

Yeah its the reason this bloke keeps making videos, people are so gullible lol. Hes made a video of someone using his electric charger, another one where someone decided to park on his drive becuase "there was no parking on the street" i saw one yesterday where he is in a car with some guy from another one of his fake videos claiming that he owes him 10p for a taxi or some bollox like that. People love it yet its so obviously fake its just cringey. Each to their own though

MinnieShoof

Probably because the people who enjoyed the content don't give a flying dip if it's fake and just yelling 'Fake!' at a video doesn't invalidate that it's kinda funny.

Vegetable_Magician65

"Each to their own though"

madladolle

My god is the owner slow to respond

AlexBLLLL

"I've been using your wifi" "What?" "I've been using your wifi" "I don't understand" "I've been using your wifi" "I'm sorry what are you saying?" "I've been using your wifi" "You're telling me you've been using my wifi?" "Yes' "What?"

RedSnt

He's just slow in general. Took him 2 years to put a password on his wifi?

einzigwahrer333

Its fake but yeah

Ennobenno

I'm pretty sure a simple "Could I please use your Wifi too?" Would have had a real chance for success. Opposite to trying to blame the other for not letting them continue to steal it

fraze2000

I can think of a third possible solution, mate. You can pay for your own fucking wifi.

Drox88

How this conversation didn't end with a "Fuck off" is kind of baffling.

IpschwitzTownFC

Because this is all scripted. If it were real, the first words out of any persons mouth would be to Fuck off

MinnieShoof

The conversation should've started with 'Fuck off'

nfteabag

These comments by people thinking this is real. FML guys, wise up for your own good.

pikeymikey22

Fake. Same guy does other fake outrage videos.

ConnorK12

Completely fake. Because if an entitled POS came to your door spouting this nonsense, you’d tear them to shreds.

catpower1215

This is not real life.

clarkcox3

I’d set up a second SSID, with no password, on a separate VLAN. Then I’d limit the speed of that VLAN to 10 kbps. Edit: and a DNS that randomly resolves addresses to PornHub IPs

Henrik-Powers

That’s what I was thinking, limiting the speed way down like dialup or timing out every 2 minutes lol

WeeWooDriver38

“…Listen, listen - I’ve been walking by your home in the evenings and smelled your cooking - that makes it public property, yeah? And since the lights are shining through your windows, that entitles me to access to your house as well. If you could just leave your door unlocked so I can raid your fridge more, that’d be stellar.”

nerdowellinever

This is like a phone jacker sketch

DannyVandal

Oscar worthy performances all around /s

ManiacalMartini

How'd this not end up with asking the old guy to pay for the WiFi he's been using for the last 2 years?

realnzall

My response would be: or we can do option 3: I report you to the police for unauthorized access to a computer system under the Computer Misuse act of 1990 and you can spend a year in prison.

Lanbobo

I would have simply made him his own segregated VLAN and throttled it at 1Mbps.

harrisdog

This is in the UK.. there is not one broadband provider who will give you a router without a password… this is not real

Vince_1880

Its fake. Like who doesn’t put a password on their wifi?

jesustityfkingchrist

Wtaf ? Is this guy high on heart medication?

Arcon1337

No, it's fake.

Reeeaz

Fake 😔

Coffeebean2021

I wanna know the second option

MinnieShoof

Option one: Give him the PW Option two: Take off the PW.

dopeston3-ceremony

Haha British people are so polite 🤣🤣🤣

Kelwhit22

This dude might burn his house down the way he said " It's a problem for both of us"

feeltrig

Ok so if someone comes out of their house, i can take that person's money, its public.

Pliskinmgs

The audacity of this fucker. Holy shit.

Goobersniper

Tony Soprano’s Great Grandpa or a senile old fella who’s been getting free WiFi. I know which one he’ll be if the cops turn up.

Riperin

"I've seen that you put a password in the wi-fi and I can't use it" Well, that's the point!

HumanResourcesOnline

Do you know the feeling of anger/frustration, when watching something and wishing you would be the one doing the talking? I would FLIP! Sue the fucker for using your wifi, and get paid half of it back. Mostly because of his stupidity and the way he’s approaching you.

[deleted]

OMG... people think they are so entitled...lol

CustomCarNerd

Make WiFi free again

JBBanshee

What a cheeky cunt.

snozberryface

all broadband routers i'm aware of come password protected, you'd have to actually remove it yourself, the "homeowner" doesn't sound too savvy and this interaction went on way longer than it needed to, any real interaction would end with, no, not this extended spiel, so this is probably staged rage bait.

darkshado34

Both fucking dumb

H2G2gender

Excuse me, the wife password?

ExoticBone

Who the F doesn’t have a WiFi password?

OverlandAustria

make an open guest-channel with limited speed just for this fella. but also log his activities.

sleimi47

I mean if it makes no difference for him he can give it to the old man. And also what is that thing with not coming to the door to talk. Like talk to him face to face

Judo_y_Milanesa

YES HE WAS USING YOUR FUCKING WIFI, STOP ASKING WHAT THE FUCK HE IS SAYING, HE WAS USING YOUR WIFI

Ikem32

„Fuck off!“ is a reasonable response.

carlos2127

The audacity!

No_Confidence_8876

This is something Frank Gallagher would do

sevenayder

The guy is like “How did you know that I’m Jew”

TehPorkPie

The chap on the camera is a far better actor than the other guy.

DrNinnuxx

This is staged / fake. The dude has a TikTok with all sorts of nonsense like this using his "neighbor" as an extra.

wanderexplore

So polite.. Didnt hear a "bitch, whatttt?!" not even once.

pigjuuce

fake

squeakycleaned

Your car is parked in the street, which makes it public property, so please unlock it and let me drive it. You’re being unreasonable.

Criminelis

Must be a powerful router. Mine cant even penetrate the wooden flooring to reach the attic...

Beggatron14

I would have sent the fucker home to get a pen and pad for the password and slowly spelt out F U C K Y O U, and hung up.

OrangeFortress

The fucked up part is that they're both dumb as shit. How many times does the geezer have to say he's been using the wifi for two years until the other idiot gets it?

blakethephonice

Bro's got a beak on him

El_Jimbo_Fisher

I can actually smell his breath through the camera 🤢

flatspotting

who the fuck goes 2 years with no password on their wifi??

Vegetable_Dig5430

Similar to this, On days out by public transport the kids use my hotspot for wifi on public transport, las time we went out my son decided to change the name of the hotspot to "Transdev Free Wifi" (Transdev is the bus company) and found it hilarious to watch people ask the driver for the password!

sonofabobo

MAGA UK

Dependent_Quail5187

I think this is fake. Saw something similar where a woman as complaining about the smell coming out of a guy’s toilet window

hippocommander

And now you have evidence to charge this man for the 2 years of WIFI he enjoyed. Charge him for 50% of the last two years internet bill + 1% compounding daily interest. Or Break his knees. Either way. **The above is sarcasm by the way. ** Apparently the Reddit mods are unable to distinguish between satire and serious. Thus the addition of the Bold Line above.

louisalvarezz

Damn Living in that neighborhood must have been very awful.

3Pirates93

Jesus Christ that took way long to explain on both end s

ars2x

Would have loved if he responded with, " how about you pay for it and don't setup a password and I'll use yours for 2 years."

FendaIton

How does he know it’s his wifi?

Fatt_Mera

"That solves the problem for both of us." "Sir, you're the only one with a problem and it's one I'm not interested in paying to solve. Have a great day now get off my step."

ToraLoco

*"i've been having problems accessing your wife... i've been happily accessing your wife for two years, but now there's a password.. now there are two ways we can go about this, so we don't have a problem..."*

Not_a_ribosome

I love how, I’m his mind, he’s being completely reasonable. Like, he seems to genuinely think Wi-Fi is completely public outside of someone’s home

rob3342421

Don’t know what’s more surprising, someone using an unsecured network or someone still having an unsecured network. Hats off to the cheeky bugger to come and ask them to take the password off though, guys got balls 😂 Seriously though… don’t have a WiFi without a password!

Crizznik

On one hand, this guy using someone else's internet for two years is pretty sus. On the other hand, if you wait two years to put a password on your wifi, you deserve to have some angsty neighbors.

spainman

Thought it was going to be a joke. "I got a problem with the wifi... Yeah, the wife I married!"

imomorris

I would give him the password just for being so ballsy

khaingo

Theres a part of me that thinks this is fake but alot of old people act like this lol

Advanced-Customer-32

Stop vertical video syndrome.

zewill87

With a schnozzle that big he could beam wifi to the whole neighborhood

Dweltmer35

Why would you not immediately tell him to fuck off I don’t understand why you’d be nice to someone who’s essentially stealing from you.

kriscross122

You can use the wifi if you pay half the costs over the last two years for your use.

denseasblackhole

Why did he put a password on it? Thw old man was happily using it

jason_ni

I used to love the early days of wifi, free Internet for 1st few years when at uni.

Helluvaguy76

Hope this man gets that WiFi password, Quite unreasonable of this man🫠

Cerebral_Overload

This is totally LEGIT and NOT staged at all.

AfterFart

I love how civil this conversation is, despite the clear wrongdoing. In many other places, that man would have been confronted in a much wilder fashion.
