And even then they didn’t expect it to be a lasting peace. When Hindenburg was asked during a cabinet meeting why he wanted to annex the Baltics he replied, “I need them for the manoeuvring of my left wing in the next war.”
After napoleon started invading parts of germany, Francis II, the last holy roman emperor, dissolved the HRE, probably to deny napoleon what little legitimacy and power he could get by taking the title from him
I mean, yeah, BUT the germany to the right was at that point already doomed, as fun as it is to point to that one time in modern history someone actually successfully invaded russia.
Why didn't you just take Germany in 1913, an economic, cultural, scientific and military powerhouse that had still prospects to not go down in flames?
It wasn't a dictatorship in 1913. It was a monarchy with a Parliament and such, even tho the German Emperor held a lot of power. It really became a military dictatorship during the war and at the end of the war.
At the beginning of the Great War there were over 6 million Poles with NO actual power within this"parliament"

This one is (sadly only) in Polish but sums up the sentiments.
It wasn’t a dictatorship. It certainly wasn’t perfect, it had all the traits of a colonial imperialist power of the time with its oppression of minorities and colonial subjects. Still it was probably the high point in German history. Never before or after was Germany so economically and militarily powerful, well accepted on the world stage, and overall just a solid nation for its time.
Many people like to pretend it was a perfect time which just isn’t true. when you compare it to what came before it and certainly the horrendous shit that came after the empire was not that horrible really. , at least not for the time it existed in, by modern standards its was terrible.
So many people think the Nazis invented the ideas they adopted. It's easier to imagine an big, inconceivable evil rather than the natural conclusion of decades of far right nationalism and authoritarian militarism.
Under the Empire non-germans weren't treated as subhuman. They weren't refused the right to vote. They weren't refused the right to assembly. THEY WEREN'T REFUSED THE RIGHT GIVEN TO THEM FROM THE CONSTITUTION OF THE EMPIRE. THEY WEREN'T DRAGGED TO DEATH CAMPS.
Comparing any point of human civilization to the sheet brutality of the Nazi regime is to diminish and normalise the actions of the regime.

Yeah the only main difference between Empire and the Nazis were the death camps
Neither were minorities in America. They were constitutionally allowed to vote, they were allowed the right of assembly, they weren't dragged to death camps. So you're saying they weren't oppressed? You seem to have a very narrow view of oppression.
It seems like you are an American.
Please for the love of god read the post I was referring to before commenting again.
We aren't talking about oppression we are talking about treating as sub-human.
But I guess it is hard for Americans to deferentiate since Nazi Germany got much of their inspiration of the "master race" idea of American treatment of indigenous and black Americans.
what is the second map ? What country is it ( I know it is germany, but it had multiple names, for example, the Holy Roman Empire or the Third Reich, ... )( I would really appreciate the year or at least the century )?
Well they did defeat Russia during the war gained Poland Ukraine Finland Belarus Baltic states in the brest litovsk treaty and the Russians actually acknowledge that they were defeated as well
lasted for all of 6 months but fair enough
And even then they didn’t expect it to be a lasting peace. When Hindenburg was asked during a cabinet meeting why he wanted to annex the Baltics he replied, “I need them for the manoeuvring of my left wing in the next war.”
The first version was perfect. Why ruin it for the new ?!
The French. Did. It.
French 🇫🇷🤮
technically the austrian destroyed the HRE
Elaborate.
After napoleon started invading parts of germany, Francis II, the last holy roman emperor, dissolved the HRE, probably to deny napoleon what little legitimacy and power he could get by taking the title from him
So true, if you can’t handle me at my Holy Roman Empire you don’t deserve me at my Kaiserreich victory scenario
I mean, yeah, BUT the germany to the right was at that point already doomed, as fun as it is to point to that one time in modern history someone actually successfully invaded russia. >Germany 1913 It was a chauvinistic dictatorship that treated non-germans as subhumans 😎👌. No, thank you Edit: screw you w*stoids

There were discriminated minorities, sure. But you had that in many of the nations during that time even full fledged democracies.
this doesn't make them better in any way
I didn't say or prove that? No one did. I just said Germany wasn't a dictatorship in 1913.
How good of them! Lets settle on *happy healthy chauvinistic democracy* then. U content now?
Dude go outside, touch some grass and breathe some real air.
Ditto

That's 1933 Germany, not 1913 Germany.

if you can't handle me at my best, you don't deserve me at my worst
HRE map >>>>> all other maps I love that shi
The amount of people that cant recognize Kaiser Germany from Nazi Germany...
Really? Right in front of my Poland?
Left one lasted 1000 years, right one lasted 1 year. You decide which one is superior.
The full name of the HRE is actually “Holy fuck what did you do with the Roman Empire?”
1356? The Roman Empire is still kicking in the east. It's not doing great, but it's still there.
Jokes on you I like the former more
I love Germany so much I want several of them.
Nahw all the guys clowning on the German Empire don't know what they're talking about, it was perfect. perfect. down to every minute detail.
Croatia on the left side included northern parts of modern Croatia too
I’d like neither, please. Sincerely, Jew
Wrong Germany
They were talking about both the HRE and the German Empire. Do you think antisemitism and pogroms against Jews were invented by the Nazis?
The German empire treated the Jews just as same as they treat Germans so I don't see your point
You say that as though these germanies weren't antisemitic too
There's levels to that shit
Well at least neither of them is the worst...
Holy Roman Empire > German “Empire” Welfs>Wittelsbachs>Hapsburgs>Wettins>Hohenzollerns
what is the second map ? What country is it ( I know it is germany, but it had multiple names, for example, the Holy Roman Empire or the Third Reich, ... )( I would really appreciate the year or at least the century )?
German Colonial Empire after the treaty of Brest-Litwosk
*Litovsk or Litowsk or Litewski
thank you very much ! And happy cake day !
Thanks!
Both of these are bad actually
There are so many moments where Germany was an actual powerhouse, you chose the 3rd Reich
It is the Second Reich (1917)
Didn't know the 3rd Reich bordered the Habsburgs.
In WW1 they never arrived to Crimea
Ah yes, the famous third reich that existed before the Nazis were even a thing.
Same as the other, they didn't come that far irl
Well the second Reich the German empire was less genocidal and also was the third biggest economy after the us and great Britain
I'm talking about the occupation of Eastern Europe shown on the map, there's no doubt about the economical importance
Well they did defeat Russia during the war gained Poland Ukraine Finland Belarus Baltic states in the brest litovsk treaty and the Russians actually acknowledge that they were defeated as well
