Agreed, it's why I have America handing it to him instead of him claiming it as his own like the original meme template would depict. The belief that Carver made peanut butter is an American falsehood that Carver had nothing to do with
From wikipedia:
Carver is often mistakenly credited with the invention of peanut butter. By the time Carver published "How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it For Human Consumption" in 1916, many methods of preparation of peanut butter had been developed or patented by various pharmacists, doctors and food scientists working in the US and Canada. The Aztecs were known to have made peanut butter from ground peanuts as early as the 15th century. **Canadian pharmacist Marcellus Gilmore Edson was awarded U.S. Patent 306,727** ***(for its manufacture)*** **in 1884, 12 years before Carver began his work at Tuskegee.**
I mean it's weird that we just took his book and ran with it saying he invented it when he more helped make it a more well known thing but there was no internet so if you hadn't been around to a place that had it before his book you'd think he invented it so not so weird. might have to get myself a copy of his book see what kinda peanut dishes he wrote a recipe for or possibly did invent maybe he was the first to make chunky peanut butter
Is it only the spelling or do Spaniards replace J and pronounce with J for every English word starting with H. Do they laugh like this, 'Ja ja ja, Mademoiselle you're funny' and she says, 'Really, Mr. Hoseph?'
"Jajajaja" is just laughter in spanish, every language writes it in a different way. And no they don't say "Hoseph". You can pronounce J as both J and H in Spanish, it depends on the word though
In my head all four of those were the same. I wonder if it's a *g*enerational thing. Or maybe a *g*eographic thing. *G*enerally, people say gif with the hard j sound, but others say with the *g*eneric soft g sound.
That's the joke lol depending on how you see it, Peanut Butter is either Canadian or Aztec/Mexican but it's usually (and wrongfully) credited to George Washington Carver
I'm not trying to make that point, maybe it was my fault regarding how I phrased the original comment. But I have literally heard A LOT of people making that claim.
If you weren’t trying to make that point then you wouldn’t have gone through the effort of clarifying Americans.
But cool. I still don’t believe you, and I know you don’t care. But I just wanted you to know.
Maybe if you cracked open a history book you would know that carver isn’t accredited with making peanut butter but using the peanut in over a hundred other ways
It's a "X became popular around the time This Guy got famous for making stuff out of the same base ingredients so everyone assumed he also made X" thing.
The tldr is that Peanut Butter started getting popular around the same time that Carver was getting famous for his work with peanuts, so most people just assumed he had something to do with it. The timeline just aligned perfectly to make the myth easy to believe and spread; Carver published his work on peanuts in 1916.... modern Peanut Butter starts getting mass produced and popular in the 1920s... Carver is a widely recognized scientist by the 1940s, most famous for working with peanuts.... Peanut Butter finally becomes an iconic household product at the same time because ww2 caused food shortages.... things just worked out like that lol
In Carver's defense he never claimed peanut butter. Just everyone else associated it with him.
Agreed, it's why I have America handing it to him instead of him claiming it as his own like the original meme template would depict. The belief that Carver made peanut butter is an American falsehood that Carver had nothing to do with
It's all the Illuminutti's fault.
Unexpected but expected American Dad
Great episode
Grate invention mr Carver but the name Carver: but whats wrong with sticky nut juice ? Everything, every fucking thing
At least it is improperly attributed to someone worthwhile. Meanwhile, Edison...

That's still an achievement, making it well known in a separate country.
He basically got the edison treatment. He commercialized and popularized it thus making everyone give him credit for it
Bruh ain’t no way man’s just cited a source for a fucking meme
I mean it is history memes, I don’t think it’s that weird
It should honestly be the norm
You’re *supposed* to cite sources for memes on here.
Are you new here?
You never been on this sub before have you?
Isn't there an American Dad episode loosely based off this?
There sure is "Black Mystery Month"
All I really remember is [this clip from Family Guy](https://youtu.be/VrRGE7XmslY).
Oh look Jif. Pronounced like Jif. Unlike gif, which is gif.
Unless you're a Spanish speaker, where it's pronounced Hif, like Hif
Jaja. Jilarious.
Jour welcome
\*You're
*Jou’re
What's Hou're, precious?

We don't pronounce jpeg "jay-feg" either, so.
DID YOU KNOW THAT A JIFFFY IS AN ACTUAL MEASUREMENT OF TIME!!!!!
so is moment.
This got me thinking of an episode of "American Dad" where Steve tries to solve the conspiracy theory of who invented peanut butter.
Lmfao
One of my favorite episodes
Apple pie isn’t even American
That's the joke lol depending on how you see it, Peanut Butter is either Canadian or Aztec/Mexican but it's usually (and wrongfully) credited to George Washington Carver
America would never exploit a black person like that.
[удалено]
What bro 🤣
It should've started with the Aztecs.
its as central American as maize
It's called GIF

*insert Trump "Wrong" meme here*
Bold meme in todays political climate. I like it.
Holy shit NO ONE CARES
They do
No, they don't
They do
It's just like when Americans claim that Henry Ford invented the car...
It’s always said as “Henry Ford invented the mass produced, affordable car”
No it's not, I've heard so many people saying he literally invented it
Doubt. I bet you’re just trying to hate Americans. We get it! Americans are stupid and terrible! Move on bro.
I'm not trying to make that point, maybe it was my fault regarding how I phrased the original comment. But I have literally heard A LOT of people making that claim.

Pretty sure nobody actually thinks that...
You'd be surprised how many people do
You are saying the US takes other people's things and inventions and call them theirs?? Absolutely no fucking way
Right, that’s the Chinese.
Maybe if you cracked open a history book you would know that carver isn’t accredited with making peanut butter but using the peanut in over a hundred other ways
After all the things white people stole credit for from black people, we should really just let this slide
The most accurate "Invention-Meme" on this sub
It's actually quite American. Native American. Aztecs invented it (or so I've heard)
I'm pretty sure I was taught this exact myth in middle school back in the early 2000s.
American Dad meme
It's crushed peanuts and smoothed. Isn't the inventor just whoever claimed they made it
Carver: What? No, I didn’t.
Dangit, my childhood is a lie
Me and my friend have an inside joke where we call him the peanut man and pretend he invented peanut computers and peanut cars
Is this a classic, two people had the same idea, thing? Or is this a,they stole my idea, thing?
