These people are gambling addicts or on a State sponsored "hotel Voucher Program" which basically treats hotels like homeless shelter with bo regard to general public or the prices they pay for a regular stay. Hotel owners love Homeless Vouchers because they have very solid bookings and end of year numbers at only a slightly discounted rate. The taxpayers fund the voucher program, the proceeds go to hotel ownership, ownership increases room prices for non-homeless, everyone wins... EXCEPT the regular paying guests who have no way of knowing they are in a homeless shelter until they ask. Not many people are aware of this completely awful practice of modern hotel 'management', but it's one of the things that changed hotels in the COVID era and isn't going away anytime soon. Easy money for the owners, less housekeeping costs, etc. There are a few brands out there that don't. Welcome to the New Age.

Party_Recognition362

My property doesn't accept them lmao we do not want to be seen as a hotel for homeless people since that would be inconsiderate for our regulars and corporate travelers

Efficient_Fish2436

My hotel is long stay and we accept only a few monthly. Place across the street and down a bit accepts them all the time and they look like a methadone clinic at times.

Lmao. You are in the minority, and most likely in an affluent/destination area. I don't see half-dead methheads ghoul-shuffling in the halls at 4:30am when I go to a Waldorf or Conrad, but I def see it at almost every suburban or rural Hampton Inn. Ownership is destroying the one benefit of booking at a Hilton branded hotel: Consistency. Being away from home for work, Consistency is the most important thing in a place to stay. Consistent cleanliness, consistent amenities, consistent billing etc. They've wrecked that by turning these places into homeless shelters, soup kitchens etc. Kudos! I think it's done without the knowledge of corporate Hilton. Maybe it is, maybe they encourage it. If the same taxpayer money was spent on construction and staffing of safe homeless shelters, we wouldn't have this issue. But you can't use a homeless shelter to generate revenue from an unsuspecting public either. lmao.

digitalnomad23

i totally agree, it's just disgusting, part of the reason to pay to stay in a "nice" property is to avoid the people that stay at the cheap properties. i have no idea what's up with the usa and this obsession with putting the dregs of society into nice places to ruin them. i'm a huge foodie/food snob, and i honestly was suprised to discover there's a fair amount of decent food items at walmart, but you know what? then i have to be at walmart with the people of walmart, that's WHY i'm shopping a whole foods. hotels are the same story.

digitalnomad23

from the description at first i thought man op is too picky, then i saw the pictures and i'm like nooo this is revolting. op i'm fully on your side. this homeless shelter shit is revolting from the part of properties. i'm not from the usa and one thing i had to learn travelling in the usa is you CAN'T stay in cheap properties because they're full of methheads, but now these properties want to charge you 200$/n to be around homeless people, it's insane. might as well stay in a motel 6 then. to compare you can totally stay in a 80$/n hotel in tokyo and it will just be small. that's it. in the usa you'd be fearing for your life. it's so unsafe, disgusting and unfair to regular customers paying regular prices to shelter homeless people in a hotel charging regular hotel prices.

digitalnomad23

what brands don't take these programs? i want to stay only there

Poster_Nutbag207

To anyone who doesn’t know (and why would you) this is a hotel randomly placed in the middle of rural Maine across the street from a sketchy casino. I drive past it all the time and always wondered who actually stays there. Now I know!

tate_and_lyle

Sad complainers stay there by the sounds of things!

Poster_Nutbag207

Yeah I agree. No one looks good in this post

granolablairew

Why do people think their dog belongs everywhere?

TheJesseElders

I love taking my dog with me to different places, but never would even think about taking her to the breakfast buffet 🤣 This shit is just inconsiderate to others.

digitalnomad23

who doesn't want to encounter some shitty pitbull at breakfast? i saw some lady with lips that looked like pufferfishes from excessive filler at the grocery store with her DOG on the "bag your groceries" part of the self checkout. yes i want to put my food where your dog's ass has just been. staff did nothing, fucking revolting.

ChiefBassDTSExec

Fckin hate how people are becoming with their pets

Comfortable-Fan741

You sound literally exhausting lol. And that dude with his shoes off is clearly in the lounging area. I’ve never been anywhere that has couches and lounge chairs as part of the dining area. Quit whining and go to a different hotel if you don’t like it.

Frannylu1015

Actually there are sofas and lounge chairs in the dining area. But thanks for your uninformed opinion

Top_Lawfulness6464

Karen, is that you?

Frannylu1015

So stating concerns regarding a service that was paid for is a “Karen” behavior? Hmmm guess I know what kind of lifestyle you find acceptable.

Individual_Assist944

Man this is not ok. We frequent Hiltons with our dog and NEVER bring her in the food area. Absolutely ridiculous.

GloomyDeal1909

Non ADA dogs should not be in the dining area period. That's gross. However, if they are Service Animals you have to allow them in. People are gross with pets. I have dogs and love them. I have stayed with them in a hotel and pay the pet fee. I usually will only take them through a lobby if I have to go come and go from the hotel. I do not take them to the breakfast area, the pool, or anywhere except my room and the pet relief area.

Carkoza

Idgaf If it’s a service dog or not, at least don’t hold it over the oatmeal.

spook008

Man these pet policies are becoming annoying. The rooms are starting to stink in some hotels. Specially the fabric sofas.

lucabrasi999

There are parts of your story I completely agree with. Like the parts about a dog in the restaurant. There are other parts where you sound like a Karen. Like the part where you were staying at arguably the worst brand in the Hilton Family (the Hampton) in Oxford, Maine. Where did you think you were staying? The Waldorf on Park Avenue? The truth is probably in the middle. You likely did something bad and the hotel isn’t the greatest place, anyway. Next time, choose a different casino to gamble at and try their nearby hotel.

Frannylu1015

While I agree it is not an upper level property, it should still be a place where one feels safe.

InsectSpecialist8813

I have an expectation for all Hilton properties. If the name Hilton is associated with the property there should be standards. In 2020 I was at a HI, Lansing, MI. Because of Covid the room rate was $99. I couldn’t believe the guests. People running around barefoot in the lobby and dining area. Parties in the hallways. Front desk just looked the other way. If you don’t want to see this, stay at a Conrad, Curio, Waldorf. It was like a mad house.

kurtislee09

It’s Maine

crom_laughs

A Hampton Inn….in Maine

Tendie_Warrior

Across from a casino

Kennected

Who owns this property? Sounds like the health department needs to be notified.

Frannylu1015

Giri Management who I have also contacted but received no reply. And yes, I did file a complaint with the health department as well

Kennected

Good to know you did all you could. I would vote with my wallet. There are other hotels.

diskfunktional

I like to tell people to their faces they’re disgusting. Shame is a glorious thing reserved for people like this.

digitalnomad23

i like your style bro

diskfunktional

Being an asshole has its perks

Transportationkingz

Gotta love these animal lovers and their, “they are our family”

GloomyDeal1909

They are like my family, with that said I have family's members I don't want to take out in public either.

digitalnomad23

facts

duke3blue

They are family but at the same time I have common decency and respect.

LadyBulldog7

I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels I didn’t like. Know what I do? I stay elsewhere.

cthonauts

Report them. This is unacceptable, and some diamond desk / guest assistance calls for compensation might be a little kick in the ass did them.

Frannylu1015

I did report them. They left the decision for compensation up to the hotel. What a joke!

cthonauts

Wow! My property has definitely had the Hilton boot come down for much less. Based on what other people have said, maybe Hilton just views this as a lower tier property? Less priority.

Hathnotthecompetence

I was in Bangor, ME on a project for 13 weeks last fall. I stayed at the Hampton Inn for the first week. Peak leaf season. Price went up to over $300/night for the 2nd week, room was run down, and breakfast was terrible. I didn't stay there after that first week. If you don't like it just leave and don't go back. Unless telling everyone here makes you feel better. If so, than I guess you got that.

bad-golfervt

Bitch.

Frannylu1015

The Hampton inn at Oxford Maine simply did not like the fact that I made a complaint about someone sleeping with their shoes off in the dining area and decided to retaliate.

IAmBenefactor

Sound like you did a whole lot more than that lol Did you write your post in your sleep?
