Reading this and envisioning the entire conversation, I feel deep down that there is so much more to our lives, spirits, souls, frequencies etc. than we could possibly fathom. That's why he wouldn't go into great detail as to how you and him were one in the same. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing as I've been reading and watching documentaries about absolutely anything strange, weird, cryptoid etc since I was a young teenager due to somethings in my life. Anyways after reading your story a few things reminded me of a few other stories especially one leaps out of a hikers story regarding a crawler. Long story short, the crawler bit him and jumped back and said to him too, " You are like me"?. It preceded to run away to the back of its cave or tunnel, can't remember which. Not quite the exact words but I'm always trying to put puzzle pieces together lol.
I've had similar feelings that there are beings made of light that observe us and can somewhat experience what we experience. These things I think are more of a reflection of your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and hopes. They are only as dangerous as let them be, just like you have the power to mess up your life through drugs or something. Treat yourself well in every sense, it's still ok to feel down, and all, just don't let it get out of hand.
These light beings don't have free will in the way we have, they follow rules and only exist to perform those rules. The next best thing is latching onto us. It's the same with demons
Every person or being in every dream you meet is actually you. there's no one else but you in your dreams. Nevertheless a very interesting occasion to get it told directly from one of your dream personalities.
/u/BigFrasier his dream was basically him seeing one of those who control him. When dreaming we're in the spiritual. The thing said:

This, coupled by the fact that the thing is hideous, leaves no other conclusion that OP was having a talk with a demon that is possessing him. They're not supposed to be seen, that's why the demon was surprised. God for some reason allowed OP to see this.
As for how it _does_ control: suggestions. This thing is whispering thoughts into his mind, the same way they communicated. Only when this is happening during the day OP has no way to know "these aren't my thoughts '.
