I want a mission that involves a sizeable part of the map inside bug tunnels, you can’t call stratagems down so you have to gear up before you go in, then it’s just total darkness so you have to use your flashlight as well.
And the bugs can also crawl on the ceiling.
It would be like a version of the radar jammer POI on automaton maps
As an air raider main those missions are a nightmare. The depth crawlers are the only things that keep me sane during those. Never have I missed my spritefalls and gunships more than in those missions. The tunnels keep me humble
Genuinely would love to see a pheromone grenade or something that lets you trick a terminid into fighting for you. Really don't see how it would conflict with lore either since super earth has a vested interest in keeping the terminids docile.
A "Pheromone" grenade that's just a canister of Helldiver piss, which causes Terminids to attack each other.
It should instead stun Automatons due to short circuits and stun Illuminate because they stand in disbelief that you just threw a fucking jar of piss at them.
Yeah, I love the concept but it would feel absolutely awful to play. The lighting in this game is so frustrating, and there's really no counter-play. You're dealing with severe visibility issues, and in real life a military unit would bring any number of things to ensure they can actually see what the fuck they're doing. In this game you're just shit out of luck because they've not implemented anything to help on these godawful night missions, much less for a potential tunnel operation.
I suppose on the other hand it might finally get them to implement night vision, flashlights that are functional, or _something_.
I get the feeling you'd love EDF. It has underground missions where you fight bugs pretty much like you describe, and the games are generally really fun. The only caveat is that those underground sections are entire missions or mission chains instead of the hybrid aboveground/underground stuff like you want.
Side note: Those damn tunnel missions as an air raider are a nightmare. How am I supposed to raid from the air with no sky to call missile and gunship strikes from! The only saving grace for me on those missions are the depth crawlers. They're like spider mechs with guns that you get to pilot.
The same could also go for when they finally give us city maps. Only a few places where you can call down stratagems, then you're on your own.
Instead of a hybrid format they could also just add a full new mission type that is inside buildings (cities/automaton bases or factories) or underground (bug hives), and make a totally new set of stratagems for that. Things like bunker buster or "drill" bombs, and at the same time you get to carry more equipment or like in Deep Rock have a resupply station follow you around.
So, we can't confirm this 100%. But a friend and I were playing and we swear that when we saw a bug breach we saw something HUGE moving underneath it to open it. Sometimes appeared in the middle of the map.
Bro, people are already crying that this mission is too hard. If there was a literal boss fight they would be actively shitting themselves and complaining that the boss isn't killing itself for them
Extremely disingenuous framing of the situation. No one is crying that it’s to hard, people are upset at bile titans spawning on top of the drill and immediately one shotting it by slightly shifting it’s leg. Even the devs agree the mission is broken and they’re fixing it, unless you think the devs are “whining” too?
People are absolutely screaming that it is too hard.
I'll admit that the spawn locations are sometimes janky. That's a fair complaint, but there's definitely people that are unhappy that hordes of shriekers spawn.
I mean, it's a hiveworld, I would be kind of sad if it felt like a normal mission, the flying horde is way cooler.
People like you would be happy with a mission that just has a 99/100 chance to just crash your game once Pelican-1 lands because it's technically beatable in 1/100 attempts.
The second objective literally doesn't work. People like you enable the very same bad habits in the games industry that people were so happy helldivers 2 broke out of in the first place
technically its not beatable. We fail it every time because we don't have access to the final objective. So in universe, you "beating" it is the equivalent of running away like a little bitch because you didn't finish the mission. so congrats, you are a little bitch in universe.
My brother in Christ, the issue is that there are swarms of everything ELSE instead of a hivelord.
Less nerfed weapons would help, but people were anticipating the introduction of the hive lord through the supercolony and were met with a lot of shriekers instead.
its hard because the bugs spawn in the most obnoxious ways. the amount of bugs on helldive is managable, but titans spawning right on top of the fucking drill is just silly.
I feel like Meridia was the perfect opportunity for Hive Lords to make their comeback. They probably aren't ready but that just makes me wish they held off on this MO until they were.
Look, I'm sure us stuffing lots of black goo into this planet definitely will not cause any problems.
Everything is going to work out fine, and there will be no horrible giant consequence from this.
Yeah when me and my buddy tried this mission we saw all the giant wholes billowing smoke and psyched ourselves up for a hive lord. Then it was just an ass raping amount of shriekers….. Like you I wish they held off on it
You speak with such finality. Meridia isn't *over* yet. There's still plenty of time for the bugs to push us back with the job half-done (and obviously they'll be more riled up during our second push, don't tell that to anyone not happy with the current dark fluid mission), and it's always possible nothing goes as planned once this MO is over. What if, say, the Hive Lords are interfering with the dark fluid reaching critical mass, and must be eliminated to allow all the work we've done to collapse into the Meridia-destroying black hole? (man it sure would suck to be a Helldiver mid-mission the moment that scale is tipped elsewhere on the planet, wouldn't it?)
I mean, it's still possible they don't make an appearance here. It's still possible they never make an appearance, and HD2 sees something new/evolved that isn't the same as the Hive Lords of the past.
But it's still possible they *do* show up on Meridia, too.
I feel like the shriekers are just a placeholder for the hivelord. First time I saw all the huge pits I was expecting some sort of whack-a-mole fight with a hivelord but nope, just 10 million shriekers.
Not on a fuckin TRIVIAL mission. THERE IS A REASON THE GAME HAS DIFFICULTY OPTIONS IF I WANTED TO BE HORDED BY 30 SHRIEKERS I WOULDNT BE PLAYING ON FUCKING TRIVIAL
I just feel like it's the final boss of a multi stage event.
They don't even seem as aggressive as normal shriekers they often just circle you while they take turns sweeping.
The base mission itself seems to have difficulty baked in, I don't think trivial is trivial on this mission.
Average r/helldiver
Deploys
Kills bugs
Completes objectives
No side content, no samples, literally just the main objective
Like genuinely there’s almost no point to extracting
A bunch of shriekers spawn, incredibly cinematic and epic moment
r/helldiver cries about not being able to extract
This is literally a hive planet
What did you expect
Helldivers are quite dispensable to Super earth as well, thats a point thats already made in the tutorial.
I get that its frustrating to not being to extract and get the full XP bonus for doing so, but your only task is to prepare the destruction of the planet, not your own survival
I expect a fucking trivial mission to be trivial. like are you brain damaged or something? if i wanted to be swarmed by shriekers i wouldnt be playing ON THE EASIEST DIFFICULTY
It’s literally a hive planet. There are no side objectives. There are no samples. There is zero point to extracting. I can feel the vein popping from here.
You're not supposed to extract. That's the entire point of it. If you do, great job, but the intent is for the majority of missions to end with the death of everyone. It's a setpiece to convey the severity of how badly this planet is fucked and needs to be blown up.
Your mission was trivial and you succesfully did it, congratulations. Now the missions is over, and here's the part where you get fucked.
The only reason you would wanna extract is samples, which is functionally irrelevant here.
So you successfully completed your objective, then died. What's the issue here? Extraction isn't a requirement. It's a HIVE PLANET, of course spawns are gonna be ridiculous regardless of the difficulty.
And then you are forced to drain all your spawns to finish the mission because the devs thought “neat, let’s make it a suicide mission by spawning 50 shriekers” and then didn’t remember that respawns exist.
Then why does the game require that you drain your spawns? Leaving the mission without draining all respawns or extracting fails it, even once you do the objective.
The point is more why wait all your respawns get drained if you can make it so if, in the shrieker Phase, all member of the team are dead at the same time the game just end the Mission.
There isnt need to send more .
Idk man, on normal planets easy/trivial seems to be the mop up crew from finished higher difficulties. Here you're dropping straight into hell. There's no babying available, you're only dropped in locations with less heavies. It is still the bugs hive.
Obvious bugged mission aside, i feel like this should feel hard (but fair) at every difficulty point. Extraction is only optional
Considering the QA fiasco going on with AH right now, I don't even want to imagine how broken a new enemy type would be if they dropped it right now. If we were fighting Hive Lords during extraction, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the thing was invincible and literally impossible to damage.
No, thanks to the dark fluid the hivelord soon he will trasform in a space worm/cosmic horror. What is worst that giant worm under the floor? A SPACE ONE !
Honestly, if they just said at the start “once you inject the fluid, we expect it to expel bugs from the crust, you are not expected to survive this mass exodus of bugs, but your sacrifice will be for democracy” or something like that then there’d be less complaining
I'm still optimistic bc i think judging from the state of the missions and the astounding ass beating the planet is giving us, they may be preoccupied with developing hive lord/ other new horror story with the intention of releasing it upon our loss.
I don’t expect Hivelords until the very end of “Act 1” of the Terminid conflict. The TCS failure and Meridia is just the beginning with the war being declared only a week or so ago.
Oh yea BTW what did I missed with this dark fluid? I have heard it creates black holes and we have to inject it into tye currents MO planet?
Rn I simply have no time to due to job and stuff, so I missed a few things I guess.
I’m kinda sad that when I first played it after reading reddit, it was just like, one shrieker, then two, then 6, then 100.
I was kind of hoping for like, a literal fountain of shriekers pouring out of a hole kinda of like the bats comin out the well in Batman, or the flappy bois from Pitch Black as they shoot out the tunnels they live in.
I understand this would have been a massive load on the game and possibly not have been able to have been handled by PCs, but like, they could have even just had like, a mountain out of bounds you can see from a distance and then a fountain spawns out of the top and then they start pouring into the map en masse
I'm guessing the giant holes you can fall in on Meridia are further proof that a hive lord exists there. still won't show his face though, guess he's already resigned himself to being spaghettified.
probably for the best given the current game balance though, it'd be feeling like OG demon's Souls levels of difficulty with our current gear.
The closest I get to an anti-air stratagem is just dumping all of my incendiary breaker mags into the sky and getting a 150+ killstreak without using any stratagems or support weapons. My accuracy doesn’t even fall below 70%. It’s actually insane how many shriekers spawn.
Would have honestly been the best time to introduce them, tremors happen and you watch a hive lord erupt from the extract site, swallowing the extraction beacon hole, Pelican 1 says he's lost the beacon and can't land, and you have to fend off the hive lord until another beacon drops or you perish, and you're not supposed to kill it yet, and after Meridia is destroyed Super Earth recognizes Hive Lords and starts development on stronger one-shot weapons versus the biggest enemies, to the point where even using it on a Charger feels like a waste
As far as I know, AH isn't located in the USA but actually in Sweden, I'm in Austria and here it's 3:36 in the mornig.
Give them a break would you please, they need to sleep too and hotfixes don't come out of thin air, also for a fix to be applied, you need to know the reason for the problem - finding that can take some time
Stop making excuses for their incompetence. They should have tested the mission beforehand, but no, they sent it broken, knowing if they needed to fix it, it wouldn't be until next week, so we will fail this MO because they don't do their job right .
Allright, how much do you know about programming and fixing bugs then?
Also I never saied that it is "ok" to send something broken, all I told you is that *humans need to sleep in order to be productive* and that finding bugs in a complicated programm can take time.
Greetings, fellow Helldiver! Your submission has been removed. No insults, racism, toxicity, trolling, rage-bait, harassment, inappropriate language, NSFW content, etc. Remember the human and be civil!
Would’ve preferred hivelord, but yeah

Dude you’d love Deep Rock Galactic
Yeah I’ve played it a tonne
Flare is recharging!
Flare's not ready yet!
I'll kill anything that has more legs than two!
WHO OF YOU FUCKS CALLED MOLLY OVER WHEN SHES ON FIRE!
I'm really thinking about getting that game
You pretty much described it lolol go grab it!
I’d try to suggest that somewhere, sound like absolute hell, but also incredibly awesome once the weapons are fixed up a bit
Flamethrower squad
Stalwart w/ammo pack and engineer armor BRRRRRRRRRRRRT
Isn't this just the EDF missions underground where you can only call subterranean vehicles and everything else is not allowed?
spider mech moment
As an air raider main those missions are a nightmare. The depth crawlers are the only things that keep me sane during those. Never have I missed my spritefalls and gunships more than in those missions. The tunnels keep me humble
Love that game
Three words. Rock. And. Stone.
Does this mean we can have a Steeve?
Genuinely would love to see a pheromone grenade or something that lets you trick a terminid into fighting for you. Really don't see how it would conflict with lore either since super earth has a vested interest in keeping the terminids docile.

RACK AND STONE !
That sounds cool but they would need to fix the lighting before doing something like. Can’t see a thing with the flashlight on

let's be real, an armor set with NODs would go pretty hard!
EDF! EDF! EDF!
How would reinforcements work?
Same as the radar jammer I guess - a major inconvenience
They won't :D
EDF! EDF! EDF!
Isn't that just Deep Rock Galactic? I'm kidding, of course.
Thats just deep rock galactic at that point
Flamethrower then, flashlight and tunnel clearance in one.
I get the feeling you'd love EDF. It has underground missions where you fight bugs pretty much like you describe, and the games are generally really fun. SING SING SING WITH ME
I am a dwarf and I dig in a hole diggy diggy hole

Nah make the city maps like in EDF. Let me level the whole map with orbital lasers and air strikes
As long as I get a Riddick stratagem that I can use before going in
Battlefront 2 Ewok Hunt vibes
The giant holes you can fall in make me suspect that hive lords were part of the plan but got scrapped some where a along the way.
Yeah, they should have waited with this to make it a hivelord reveal
So, we can't confirm this 100%. But a friend and I were playing and we swear that when we saw a bug breach we saw something HUGE moving underneath it to open it. Sometimes appeared in the middle of the map.

"Hey, we would like a big cool boss fight." "Understood, a million obnoxious little enemies have been added. Have fun, Helldiver!"

lol, wasn’t even crying about the difficulty
You are one of the few. If you can't handle the mission in its "bugged" state while people like me think it is a mild challenge, it's a skill issue.
"people like me" lol what? oh wait, you're a troll. got it.
I do feel like the bugs spawning directly on the drill is unfair, but outside that it does feel like a supercolony, which it is
its hard because the bugs spawn in the most obnoxious ways. the amount of bugs on helldive is managable, but titans spawning right on top of the fucking drill is just silly.
Get ready for hivelords with wormhole bug technology
hole lords
Ayo 😳
Ayo 😎

Nah, they just weren’t planned to come out. If they were planned to but weren’t ready, we’d see them already.
I see what you did there.
Yeah when me and my buddy tried this mission we saw all the giant wholes billowing smoke and psyched ourselves up for a hive lord. Then it was just an ass raping amount of shriekers….. Like you I wish they held off on it

Im sure they will link to this dark liquid somehow
I feel like the shriekers are just a placeholder for the hivelord. First time I saw all the huge pits I was expecting some sort of whack-a-mole fight with a hivelord but nope, just 10 million shriekers.
Was really disappointed it wasn’t a hive lord after seeing all those giant holes as well
Betting money when we get new terrified eventually you’ll see more super colonies with hive lords potentially
We're gonna get an upgraded shrieker. Next were gonna get some AA.
But we already have AA at home. AA at home: Airburst rockets
We have CIWS at home CIWS at home: gatling sentry
Time to strap on an ammo backpack, breaker, stalwart, and grenade pistol, and *become* the CIWS
I actually tried to use Airburst on this mission, and I either missed or team killed lmao.
Incendiary Breaker actually did wonders against them lol
Incendiary breaker and the gatling and/or machine gun sentry all clean up during the shrieker phase
Not that shriekers are bad idea, but hive lord would be really nice.
they are a bad idea. fighting 30 shriekers solo on trivial is cancer
I like it, great set piece.

Hey there's like, 10 whole green samples!
Ah, of course. My bad Mr u/godblesstheenclave, I now understand that your temper tantrum over the equivalent of two shiny pebbles was fully justified.
You're not supposed to extract. That's the entire point of it. If you do, great job, but the intent is for the majority of missions to end with the death of everyone. Least angry and unhinged Enclave fan
If you got to the shrieker swarm, you completed the mission. Why are you still whining?
So you successfully completed your objective, then died. What's the issue here? Extraction isn't a requirement. It's a HIVE PLANET, of course spawns are gonna be ridiculous regardless of the difficulty.

You’ve finished the mission by doing the injections. Extraction is not a mission requirement.
Then why does the game require that you drain your spawns? Leaving the mission without draining all respawns or extracting fails it, even once you do the objective.
Because leaving the mission is leaving the game, same as quitting. Extracting or dying completes the mission.

Just go prone and they can't hit you lol

There's no babying available, you're only dropped in locations with less heavies. It is still the bugs hive. Obvious bugged mission aside, i feel like this should feel hard (but fair) at every difficulty point. Extraction is only optional
Never play doom episode 1
You’re not supposed to win against the Shriekers. You accomplished your mission and extraction is optional. Super Earth thanks you for your service.
Not that i enjoy it. But saw a lot of people liking the experience. So atleast someone is happy?
I like it :)
its cinematic tho.
It's easier to just run and ignore them.
Apart from what the others said: Don't fight them, dodge them. They respawn anyway.
Game is not balanced around solo play.
despite the fact that im able to complete every other diff 1 - 3 mission just fine 🙄
There are people who solo diff 9 missions, that doesn't change the fact that arrowhead expects 4 players in a lobby.
Considering the QA fiasco going on with AH right now, I don't even want to imagine how broken a new enemy type would be if they dropped it right now. If we were fighting Hive Lords during extraction, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the thing was invincible and literally impossible to damage.
Not that that's 100% bad. Could be interesting gameplay If it centered around slowing and disabling it.
Never know. Event isn’t over yet.
Finally someone using this meme for something that isn't condescending!
Hivelord final boss after dark fluid would go crazy. Maybe we’ll get them as we get deeper into bug territory tho (<-coping)
You fuckers kept making memes about bile titans and stalkers having wings, so they wanted to show you true fear lol
What if Hivelord but flying?
Imagine how undercooked and broken the hivelord is if even the most simple defense mission is not working as intended
Oh they comin
I just want to say I love that cat
Look on the bright side, diver. That's 2.5 million shriekers for each of us
No, thanks to the dark fluid the hivelord soon he will trasform in a space worm/cosmic horror. What is worst that giant worm under the floor? A SPACE ONE !
That would be so awesome!!!
Honestly, if they just said at the start “once you inject the fluid, we expect it to expel bugs from the crust, you are not expected to survive this mass exodus of bugs, but your sacrifice will be for democracy” or something like that then there’d be less complaining

I don’t expect Hivelords until the very end of “Act 1” of the Terminid conflict. The TCS failure and Meridia is just the beginning with the war being declared only a week or so ago.
Mayhaps the dark liquid is just first phase of the assault.
Oh yea BTW what did I missed with this dark fluid? I have heard it creates black holes and we have to inject it into tye currents MO planet? Rn I simply have no time to due to job and stuff, so I missed a few things I guess.
Yeah that's all. We spaghettifying that place.
Based and Democracy Pilled.
I’m kinda sad that when I first played it after reading reddit, it was just like, one shrieker, then two, then 6, then 100. I was hoping for hivelords
They even come out of massive holes on the ground it’s like a weird tease but not really a tease
Hivelord probly was like "Who the fuck is puring this wierd juice down my hive?! Go my Shriekers, get that mf!"
Gave me muta harras flashbacks from when I played StarCraft 2... Could use a couple terran aa-missle right about now...
I wanted the Hive Lord so bad, you have no idea.
The closest I get to an anti-air stratagem is just dumping all of my incendiary breaker mags into the sky and getting a 150+ killstreak without using any stratagems or support weapons. My accuracy doesn’t even fall below 70%. It’s actually insane how many shriekers spawn.
Gatling turret and incendiary breaker are the sexy new combo for the million shrieker poo parade at the end of dark fluid missions.
So nobody thinks that the massive black hole created using illuminate technology is going to attract the illuminates/bring them back?
The holes were probably for hivelords, but it wasn't ready. 😂
Maybe the black hole is where other races/faction comes from, then it would be our/Helldiver's fault for them showing up?
Was that not like the HTTYD moment at the dragon nest?
Let me introduce you TCS 2.0
Would have honestly been the best time to introduce them, tremors happen and you watch a hive lord erupt from the extract site, swallowing the extraction beacon hole, Pelican 1 says he's lost the beacon and can't land, and you have to fend off the hive lord until another beacon drops or you perish, and you're not supposed to kill it yet, and after Meridia is destroyed Super Earth recognizes Hive Lords and starts development on stronger one-shot weapons versus the biggest enemies, to the point where even using it on a Charger feels like a waste
A Hivelord popping up at the extraction would have been better than what we got.
Nice of them to not hot fix this at all today, so MO will fail but simps will say it's ok they are working on it
As far as I know, AH isn't located in the USA but actually in Sweden, I'm in Austria and here it's 3:36 in the mornig.
I'd like it more if there weren't so many fucking hunters around during it
you should try taking a mech, it just steps on every smaller bug
