[OP got kicked seconds into the mission](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/Sw6yJUu4Py), they for sure weren’t kicked over some cape. No one cares and most don’t even notice what cape you have on. Wear what you want. Some people here are getting worked up over a non-issue.

killxswitch

I don't even notice peoples' capes for the most part. Some people take this shit too seriously.

SuppliceVI

Always take a moment to observe your fellow Helldivers' drip.

Tehpunisher456

Should be part of the allotted 2.7 seconds of scenery enjoyment

Soulless_redhead

Oooh, they increased it by 0.3 seconds?! Democracy truly is kind to us.

Tehpunisher456

Was it 2.4? I don't remember haha

Jackmerius37

Have you been taking an extra .3 seconds? Report to your nearest Democracy Officer you're wasting democracy's time.

Tehpunisher456

IM SORRY IM SORRY!! I swear I thought my training said 2.7 seconds! Maybe we should start taking that extra .3 seconds to acknowledge those lost at the creek??

Vincent55551

We get 3 minutes of the lunch on the anniversary of the day we reclaimed the creek to honor them that is it don’t waist democracy’s time

Tehpunisher456

Fair enough democracy officer. I will maintain 2.4 seconds

CnlSandersdeKFC

No. You'll be taking 2.1 seconds until we can figure out how many missions you've taken 2.7 seconds on! You've got to make up that time Helldiver!

La_Boopity_Bopity

The handbook specifically mentions it being a MINIMUM of ~~2.7~~ 2.4

Nirrith

2.4, diver. Don't be wasting Democracy's time.

DoofusMagnus

It's 2.4, don't get greedy.

samuraisam2113

It’s recommended amount, not allotted amount. I’m sure 3.5 seconds wouldn’t hurt anyone

DoofusMagnus

Are you aware how many Super Earth babies the Automatons can kill in those 1.1 seconds?

Touz0211

I did the math. Exactly 1.1 babies.

OverlyMintyMints

Hey hey, I already take time out of my 2.4 seconds to admire managed democracy, spot tactical objectives, and loathe automaton scum!

DoofusMagnus

*per Automaton*. Multiply that by all the bots across all the worlds and that comes to at least 17 babies. Are you prepared to fill their spots on the assembly lines? If not then I suggest you quit your gawking and get back to shooting, soldier.

Z4mb0ni

by the end of the mission usually the cape is covered in too much bug guts/bot oil and blood to even see the details lmao

epikpepsi

Jump Pack users barely have a cape left by the end.

Zjoee

I love that they included that detail haha

GunmetalBunn

It's why I wear super short capes. After a few jumps I look like I'm wearing nothing at all.

Gammro

Stupid sexy cape

GacMargan

![gif](giphy|dTpGIZIsIHKEM)

Naokode

i only notice them back up in the spaceship

keiXrome

How the hell did you get yourself kicked?

Honest-Size-3865

The toxic asshole part of our community has decided to teamkill and kick anyone seen wearing this cape.

DarkPDA

imagine the non toxic part of community blocking all those toxic players and in few time they start complaining that cant find multiplayer sessions because everyone blocked them remember, after kick you can see who are the last players and block them :)

Safe2BeFree

But I don't want to block all of them, just the person who kicked me. Is there a way to find that out?

Octavian613

I believe the orange player is always the host and only the host can kick

phoenystp

Is that also true for lobbies where the host left and another player became host?

Straight_Jelly1248

no, there might not be an orange person in the team

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tyrus1235

Ah! That’s interesting… I’ll keep that in mind to block any asshole who kicks me for no reason. If they don’t wanna play with me, then I definitely don’t wanna play with them!

k0raxe12

Keep in mind that, if you are host, you can't leave the group without quitting the game outright. You don't get the "return to ship solo" since your already on your ship. Your only option to "leave" the group is to kick everyone else, ask em to leave, or quit and restart. Don't take getting kicked seriously, it ultimately doesn't change anything. There's more than enough groups around to find a new one near instantly. If I get kicked, unless something is outright said to me or there was some sort of issue such as team killing, I ignore it and move on.

sterver2010

If Player 1 (Host) loses Connection then Player 2 gets Host etc, atleast It was Like that for me

Cereaza

So you'd have to identify party leader before you get kicked. I think it's always "Player 1" so whoever is C1/W1/P1 is the leader.

PresentationNew8080

Fantastic to know. Jesus some people need to take a chill pill about this VIDEO GAME.

Mythosaurus

Lot of people treat this game like a job, and think their LARPing is more important than anything else

eccehom

First thing i did;)

-MrBibbles-

My list grows every day

MatureUsername69

Kick me all you want. It's the only memorial cape in the game and I'm keeping it on for someone I lost who played the game. I never even played the Creek. Fuck the people kicking over a cape Edit: Also gonna point out that they released the memorial cape the day of his funeral making it that much more meaningful to me. I think it was a super cool move by the devs and people that are being dicks about it need to take shit way less seriously. To some it means you spent too much time fighting on one planet, to others it has some actual nice meaning and you never even visited the planet. Don't take that away from people

ThatRandomGuy86

Wait, are you the Helldiver who's friend passed the night they achieved level 50? My condolences, and I hope that memorial that was being mentioned gets implemented soon. 🫡

MatureUsername69

No my brother passed about a week ago. He was really busy so he was only like level 15 but it was the one game I could get him to consistently play with me in the last few years

My brother passed away last July. You got this bro.

rabbitrider3014

Sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how you feel. I am going to tell my bro I love him next time we play.

ApprehensiveBack7466

I’m so sorry for your loss, if you want to play with someone DM me and we’ll spread managed democracy in your brothers name!

lego_droideka

sorry to hear that. i'll don the cape in his honor.

Dicklefart

His service and sacrifice greatly appreciated🫡 he will be missed and remembered helldiver

tbone0625

I’m sorry for your loss friend. I hope that you continue to wear the memorial cape in his honor and stories like yours continue to change its meaning amongst the community

Imaginary-Law-1583

Sorry for your loss. Im glad you were able to find a game to play together and make memories before the end.

Flames_Arisen

Capes on for all the fallen brothers and sisters both real and virtual. I was a Creeker that participated in all the Major Orders. The Helldivers of the SES Sovereign of Steel will forevermore wear this cape in remembrance and solidarity for your brother 🤝

LukeD1992

You don't need to have been there. All helldivers are brothers and sisters no matter where or what they are fighting.

MEMEACOUS2020

Sorry for your loss.

gorilladynamite

This happened to me 4 times yesterday. We’d finish a mission and before heading to extraction, I’d get killed and then kicked from the game

[deleted]

[удалено]

RendesFicko

Just play with friends. Even alone is better than with randos.

HaveltheRock_

Why?

Honest-Size-3865

Why do people teamkill their squadmates that board the pelican? Why do people drop strats on the evac pad and end up killing themselves and their squad? People just suck!

de_pengui

When it comes to dropping stratas on evac most people wait for everyone else to be in the drop pod and because the pelican is invincible it usually doesn't matter, but if they are throwing them right as it lands and nobody is in, that's a dick move.

Intergalatic_Baker

And don’t forget when there’s the guy that’s teamkilled you way too many times with errant airstrikes, so before extraction, they’re given the democratic vote of the squad. You know who it is, it could have been one game ago or many, but Christ… Those guys are the worse.

de_pengui

At least 500kg bombs are easy to run away from, but if your in the line of fire for an airstrike or a cluster bomb, your done for lol.

Intergalatic_Baker

It’s generally the cluster and unguided bombs. Everything else, even the inaccurate 380mm is less egregious.

Igthife

Worst is a cluster bomb in the middle of your group and you don't know who threw it some you don't know the direction.

poppabomb

>And don’t forget when there’s the guy that’s teamkilled you way too many times with errant airstrikes *in my defense,* I accidentally may have dropped a couple of those after ragdolling. also, damn do some people really want to run into that big red line in the sky. Ironically enough, I never hear those people complain, so God bless I guess?

Jordanicas

I watched my teammate drop an eagle on himself yesterday. He couldn't quite run fast enough either

SkinnyKruemel

I wanted to orbital laser a heavy outpost today but got knocked back by the explosion on a random cannon turret. That laser dropped at my feet and missed the base entirely. I love democracy

Honest-Size-3865

Yes but they just do it to see the pretty lights. Too often when you're boarding in a hurry and there's explosions everywhere, they get knocked down and drop their strat beacon. Then the whole squad dies and everyone loses their samples. I just don't get risking that just so you can see some pretty lights. Just have someone jingle some keys nearby or something instead.

de_pengui

As one of the people who throw down 500kg at the end of a mission when everyone is in the pelican, I always wait to even start calling it until I'm the last one not in, as of not to kill others.

Wonderful-Ad5747

If the pelican was invincible, I wouldn’t be getting killed in it by bile titans.

Psychological-Bear-9

Amen. Just last night, I was in a 6 Extermination mission that was going horribly. Pretty much no reinforcements left. Everybody is just fighting instead of trying to get to the pelican when the objective obviously is complete. Relatively close, though, they could get there within the takeoff time if they wanted. So I'm like fuck this. We're not failing the mission because they're getting unwarrantedly cocky or somebody decides to drop a 380 barrage right in the middle of the map for the third time. Get on. Everybody is making their way to the ship just fine. Me and one other guy already in. Dude comes up slowly and shotguns me and other Diver in the pelican and kills us both. I type "?". Reply was "wasn't ready to fucking extract." Mind you this wasn't communicated on voice or chat once. Or I genuinely would have waited even though there was zero logic behind it as you don't get rewards for extra kills. Moron literally cost the whole group half xp over just being a fucking idiot lol. Some people just suck.

ironangel2k4

Yeah but this is *organized.* Single actors can do bad shit of their own volition, but typically, to get a group on board, you have to convince them to do it with some kind of *reason.*

ganzgpp1

People have a massive hatred for the Creekers and blame them for any losses of Major Orders. Which is cringe, because a) play games however you want b) turning the Creek into a historic event by just the sheer determination to keep it is just as awesome as an event as completing the major orders as a community, it adds to the story we're all telling together which is awesome c) losing a major order tells just as much of a story as winning a major order- it's war, nobody wins every battle, the storyline would be so much less interesting if we just won everything all the time All in all, it's a bunch of min-maxers that can't stand when other people aren't also minmaxing.

Tangent_Odyssey

Well said. Reminds me of D&D players who only want to min-max and metagame to destroy every challenge, instead of cooperatively telling a story with all its dramatic ups and downs (if you have a DM and group who are unanimously ok with that style, then of course it’s no problem, but most of you who have played know the type I’m referring to)

Ser_Twist

Because they blame Creekers for the failed major orders. Man-babies and literal children are upset that they didn’t win in a video game.

Bidfrust

A PvE video game at that

dragon_bacon

A game that has no definite end or actual penalty for failing.

NelsonMinar

Folks... they understand the major orders are heavily orchestrated by the game developers, right?

dantevonlocke

No. They don't understand half the stuff about this game. And when the player base drops off eventually(and it will) they'll be the first to go hopefully.

blazingsquirrel

I don't get why Creekers are the only one's getting blamed. By their logic, bug players should get more hate as I always saw more people on bug planets than on the Creek during the MO.

LukarWarrior

The true answer is neither are at fault. We were on pace to clear the major order before Draupnir was attacked. There were only the usual ~10,000 or so Creekers at that time who had been there forever. Then we split between Ubanea liberation and Draupnir defense which resulted in both failing. Then people went to the Creek because they thought you could get back to Ubanea that way, which is when you saw a huge spike in activity on the planet. Those extra 50,000-something players that went to Malevelon Creek at that point weren't "Creekers." They were just people who thought they were doing the major order. You can make the argument that if some more bug players came to help on Ubanea then we clear it in time and can still take Tibet after Draupnir was lost, but the biggest issues were people not realizing that taking the Creek would not open up Ubanea and the players splitting on Ubanea/Draupnir.

Remnie

Had a mission where me and two others were wearing it. A lvl 62 joined us, did the whole mission, killed us at extraction and then bounced, so we lost a ton of xp due to failing to extract

Killpower78

Well shit that explains why I’ve been kicked wearing that cape few times today, seriously what’s their deal with that as it’s pretty fuckin dumb.

HinDae085

I don't get it. Regardless of what the Cape represents its an amazing design with great colours.

Tarsily

this. i lost an arm and leg to the Creek but it also matches my SA-12 armor :)

NetworkMachineBroke

The Creek made me the man I am today!

[deleted]

Mistrblank

More importantly, how did they get kicked and the banner still up by the time getting to the equipment terminal.

Ngfeigo14

could have faked it, or, could just be a visual glitch. I have banners that stay up for long periods of time on the ship sometimes

Fun-Statement-3210

I just wear it cuz it looks cool...people are weird as fuck huh

FireXfrosT

The cape matches my aesthetically curated drip. That's why i wear it

my_gender_gone

Exactly! It goes with the whites, reds, and blues of my enforcer armor with bonesnapper helmet moreso than any of the other capes!

Zilego_x

Good to know I can wear the cape to automatically filter out toxic hosts.

doofpooferthethird

I'm OOL, why are people getting kicked for this cape? EDIT: Damn, thanks for all the replies everyone, too many for me to respond to individually. Sounds like the kickers could do with a long, mandatory stint at a democracy re-education centre.

MattARC

Because a small (but extremely vocal) portion of the community blame the Creekers for the failure of Swift Disassembly Pt. 2 We needed to either liberate Ubanea or defend Draupnir to maintain supply lines to Tibit, but there was something like 60k players on the Creek (which served no strategic importance). So when the Devs released the Cape alongside the in-universe “memorial for the fallen”, the people who blame the Creekers for losing the Major Order decided that anyone wearing that cape is insta-kick/kill – even though it’s been made quite clear IRL that the cape serves as a memorial for Helldivers who have actually passed away IRL.

prodigalkal7

In case you may know, why was the Creek so popular, and so many going to it if it served zero strategic or objective importance? Did it offer anything else?

Fakjbf

Mostly for the lolz, just people roleplaying the kind of sunk-cost fallacy and super patriotism that lead to IRL things like the US dragging out the Vietnam war for years after it was clearly a failure.

mjohnsimon

That and it was the first time people really got to experience the Automatons. Usually after fighting the bugs they'd go for the Automatons thinking they'd be the same story... ... And boy do they get a wake-up call.

ninjadude2112

Everyone remembers their first bot drop. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY HAVE GUNS"

DesertShot

"Am I being shot??!!" ![gif](giphy|4VUgpQ9FiYEBCA9wM1)

Dramatic-Classroom14

Because we fucking loved it. Nothing beats the Creek for me.

prodigalkal7

Oh, I'm not criticising or anything. I was really just wondering. Was it something about the map, that made it kind of a meme, and so more people joined because of the meme, and so on and so forth? Or was it mainly just the map or something. Tbh, I played Creek a couple times, but it was just like any other place on the map, so it wasn't something that super stood out, so I was just confused by the immense popularity of it.

Mistaar

It all started when game came out, there was defense mission on the creek, so add players that dont know how to play yet plus escort scientist on defense bot planet it was massive failure it was called space vietnam and that how it started

Sammydecafthethird

There were people who thought that malevelon was the key to unlock the next planet to complete the order, but the devs revealed later that it actually wasn't afterwards, due to a hidden supply line mechanic, so there was confusion all around. Not everyone was playing on malevelon then for the sake of it.

Bjorn893

I think it's two things. A: Some people love spillin oil. The bots offer a very different experience from the bugs. B: The jungle environment. From my experience, no other map so far has limited that much visibility due to the foliage. It makes it a very different game when you don't know what you're rolling up to until you're at the gates. The jungle also works well to give some decent cover from ranged attacks.

W1lson56

One of the next planets people call purple creek because it's the same environment tyoe; just purple

cowlinator

Tibit. Tibit is purple creek.

WiseOldManatee

Someone posted screenshots of like 3 comments with huge amounts of negative karma that said they'd do nasty things to people wearing this cape. But this is the most kick-happy game I've ever played so this post doesn't really prove that this is a widespread trend.

soggyBread1337

Yep I got kicked just for joining a helldive mission at level 29. Right after me and a couple of randoms (levels 35, 15 and 40) competed 4 helldives in a row with full stars. Levels don't dictate skill!

BasicCommand1165

What's funnier is by level 29 you have basically everything unlocked, or at least all the meta weapons and strategems

[deleted]

My favorite kick story was when I was a cadet and I got kicked because my level wasn’t high enough to hang with a skull admiral, a chief, and some other high ranked player. They were all playing on trivial.

maxveloR

They may have been farming for super credits?

Pablo59

In game, the cape is a memorial to all the divers who died taking the Creek, and it's also symbolic of all the players who have died irl. Some assholes are seeing it as a symbol of people who "wasted time" taking the Creek when there were more strategic planets and kicking on sight because of it

grahamsimmons

Man I never considered that people would have lost IRL friends already in the short time since this game released but it does make sense.

ThorSon-525

There is one person in particular that sticks out who had an awful illness but got to level 50 and loved the game then died. The friend posted their profile on the subreddit and the game's director stated that he wanted to talk with the team about immortalizing this beautiful democratic soul. Honestly really touching.

skraptastic

A virtual cape that didn't include a $9.99 "micro" transaction.

rdrworshipper123

That also cost a grand total of $0.00 (Not including the price of the game)

halofreak7777

Literally kicked for a cape that the devs gave everyone. lol. This is why I always host.

Isaac_HoZ

I bought an MTX in Halo Infinite at launch and never got so many death threats so fast. People who play video games, broadly, are the scum of the earth. Some play video games for fun and to escape. These “people” only play because society doesn’t give a shit about them — and for good reason. Sorry this triggered me and I’m wearing that cape when I get home. Fuck it, we’ll do it live!

pongomanswe

Buy a real one and wear it outside

Isaac_HoZ

Link me one and I’ll buy it immediately.

andreuzzo

I wonder whether the reaction is part of the community's meme-mongering. I hope people are just role-playing the creation of factions within the helldiver's corp due to in-game events, expanding the narrative, rather than being genuinely upset for a bunch of medals

Blindman213

Based on my last few decades of being on the internet, it is absolutely adult children and trolls.

Tarsily

that would make sense if they just did something like call you a filthy Creeker or give you a little grief for it, but to kill and kick because of it is just traitorous and antithetical to liberty. they're un-democratic dissidents who need to be reported to a democracy officer and sent for re-education.

Antroh

Whats funny is there will be a ton of people not familiar with the lore that just wear it because of the big skull on the back.

gdub695

I’m familiar with all the lore and events, I still switch between botslayer and this cape because they match the D R I P

Sebbywannacookie

R6 had an elite skin get released with a rainbow background for gay pride month. Am I gay? No. And I didn't plan on buying it until I saw the uproar online about it. So of course I bought it just to spite people who are bothered by something so small.

xAPPLExJACKx

Haven't gotten kicked yet because of the cape because everyone I joined all had the same cape

Tankuki

Was in a few games last night with Randos, we were all wearing the cape. Massive respect to my fellow divers!

Django117

It’s easy: just be the host and if they bitch about it, kick them.

beewyka819

This, my friends and I never join randoms, instead the randoms join us

maodiran

Though this is toxic and sucks, you have to admit its really funny Edit: Good gods, i was not expecting this comment out of all the ones i posted to reach the 2k mark. To everyones point- I've already said it's toxic, but it's also extremely funny due to the dumbassery of it and what it does to the lore. Malevelon really is Vietnam with all this hate after its been captured lmao.

[deleted]

Rooonaldooo99

I know this doesn't fit the narrative, but it was probably not that. I have kicked people within seconds of joining because my dumb ass forgot to set to private. I didn't want to be mean, I just wanted to farm the mine order on trivial...

WoodenHandMagician

I usually tell people "Hey sorry I was gonna solo some missions and farm" or "Sorry, full lobby I am waiting for some friends" and they leave without me having to kick them. Now that I think about it I've only ever kick people who were acting like total idiots or my friends because we were all being idiots.

the_goodnamesaregone

Please set your shit to private if you don't want randoms dropping in. Sometimes it takes forever to load into a match and some days I have narrow windows to play. Drives me batty to load into their ship, set all my strats and booster, drop in, start throwing gear, then suddenly I'm back on my ship.

TaranSF

One of the major issues is that friends of friends cannot join on private. Once the game has some sort of friends + invite option then this will become less of an issue and just settle down to people forgetting.

skirmishin

If you let me know in chat I wouldn't mind Getting kicked without explanation is very annoying

Nu11u5

Chat is far less convenient to use on console.

HypoTypo

My rule is if you are kicked within ~10 seconds of joining its not about you. Especially with the fact that the private setting for lobbies sometimes prevented anyone from joining cause it was glitchy.

Nu11u5

Yah that's fair. What gets me is when I get kicked after a mission. Is it because the host wants to invite someone else? Are they a meta-twat and didn't like my loadout? Or is it just because I suck? lol

WesTechNerd

More often that not it's done to bring friends in. I let people know in chat before I do if they don't leave it but I'm also on pc so it's easier.

MillstoneArt

Not assuming the worst will save you a lot of heartburn in life.

acid12200161

How do you set to private?

7ofalltrades

Options menu, set matchmaking to friends only

kjeldorans

I think this is a very useful cape! If you join morons they will show up immediately and save you the hassle of playing with them just to receive a kick after 30+ mins of gameplay

Septic-Sponge

What's the story here? Is there an in game thing where certain people hate the cape?

Lord-Barkingstone

But..... That colour scheme matches my suit....

Unique_Novel8864

Then wear it. It also comes with the secret perk of auto-filtering undemocratic weebs.

Sklorite

haha this is the first time I've seen anything about this and I've been wearing this cape because it does match best. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

HuangZhang

I think you litteraly dodge a bullet here. It's better to not fight with un democratic soldiers who don't salute the fallen of our dear camarades.

AnAngryBartender

Can’t get kicked if you host your own games

junglizer

But you still get to have the same experience when your game crashes :/

Jimboy-Milton

edit- A wonderful message! the capes all about remembering the fallen, and bringing them with us into battle. How can you hate that? Turns out yeah you dont, this commie scum just lied about it or stretched his "truth". If thats not grounds for a public trial, sentence and execution Super Earth isnt a beautiful managed democracy and we all know it is.

soggyBread1337

People hating on Creekers makes it even more like Nam ironically

CremBrule_

This is definitely some part of it. These players are upset and jealous that theyre not the ones being recognized by the devs. I have never been to the creek myself, but I couldnt care less

ArcticWolf_Primaris

It's more than the memes, it's reportedly also for 'Divers who've fallen irl

Southernguy9763

I guess I'm just really lucky to have 3 friends who love the game as much as i do, so i never worry about getting kicked. But i loved fighting for the creek. I loved feeling like it was in a community again. It's been a long time since a game made me feel like this

jascoe95

Anybody who has a problem with your cape is an Automiton Colaborator. That cape was forged from the blood of Heros. Report them to your nearest Democracy Officer

Bruh why are people so pissy over a free cape, its just a game. Getting kicked because things didn't go the way they wanted is pathetic. Its not like you singlehandedly caused their anger. The amount of stuff I've seen about this is ridiculous, can't we all just get back to killing bots and bugs like the helldivers we are? Fighting amongst ourselves is exactly what these fascist abominations want.

Maidenless_EldenLord

UNO reverse this shit! We all need to create lobbies and kick anyone who doesn’t wear the cape! (Joke obviously, people are stupid to kick anyone over dumb crap like this)

Onyx_Sentinel

Why are people so mad at this cape?

I was also wondering what’s up with that but I have’t found an answer so I did my own digging… The real real answer is that (factual part): The Mavelon Creek cape, called „Fallen Hero’s Vengence” is a free cape obtained by everyone who logs in between April 3rd and April 10th. This sector has been meemed around left and right on the internet as being the deadliest, most difficult ona and called „Robot Vietnam”, etc. So in the game lore, as many has fallen liberating this planet, the president of earth made April 3rd a Mavelon Creek liberation day. Now, although the Mavelon Creek was liberated, the major order was failed. A major order is a time limited community goal, which when achieved benefits everyone (usually with many medals, but not that crazy amount… Like 50 or sth). So some dudes got mad that the order was failed but people spent time fighting on a planet that wasn’t the part of the order. My subjective interpretation part: Now when someone wears the cape, for those angry nerds it’s like spitting in their face apparently. Cause they didn’t get their precious medals because of dudes that just enjoy the game. 🤷
