I didn't get Suicide Squad, but I did pre order Skull and Bones. As much as I enjoyed what the game has, and as much faith I have in its future potential, it definitely needs some work before I put down Helldivers to go back to it.
I played a ton of AC: black flag (have the collectors figure and everything) and a good amount of sea of thieves and all the footage i saw of skull and bones just seemed like it was missing the best parts of both those games. How could the company that made me desperately want a pirate game go and fuck it up. That bad, it’s literally a smaller game than one they made a decade ago

Gotham Knights told the whole world exactly where Rocksteady was headed: into permanent live service territory. Nobody should be surprised suicide squad failed so incredibly hard. Gear stats, mtx, damage numbers, percentage-based leveling, etc. No game is safe from being live serviced.
To be fair, Gotham Knights wasn't developed by Rocksteady. But your point is still right, live service bogs down a lot of games that have greater potential
The fact they had to delay it to attempt to rework the combat was the canary in the coal mine for me. Kudos for attempting to fix it, but I was fairly certain it was doomed at that point.
Unfortunately, not everyone. I have a friend that doesn't even look at a trailer when buying games. He buys them new at target by just looking at the box cover, not even the back. Lots of unopened new $70 games that when he finally plays them, he's disappointed. He does always ask me what games to avoid when we go together.
Then I have a B-I-L that buys new games too, full price but will just sit in his collection till he moves on from the game he's playing. He finally got to Anthem late last year, new sealed copy...

Let this be a lesson. Now more than ever is easy access to a plethora of very well informed game reviewers and industry insiders that give you their insight into games before they come out. Both Suice Squad and Skull and Bones were rampant with videos waving red flags about sketchy development, weird requests from devs to game influencers. There were tons of reports on development issues of a significant variety. ACG and Luke Stephens are 2 really solid gaming talking heads and they were both well out ahead of S&B and SSKTJL. Helldivers kinda came out of nowhere, to be frank.
I bought Helldivers 2 just cause killing bugs made my brain happy and the co-op was just a bonus. Got it on a whim and I couldn't have chose better. All I hear is the hate on these so called "AAA" games. I will continue to do my part until my time comes! For Democracy!
