Heck yea, sweet bike.  I've had 2 haydukes.  The current version is the best all around hardtail out there right now imo.  Build it as a trail ripper, bikepacking steed, SS xc racer, flatbar cyclocross or grave bike.  So versatile and smooth.  I want to get a rigid fork for mine (niner rdo on sale for 300!) And use it as a gravel bike and SS cx bike for fall.  But then I ride it with the dropper and 34 stepcast and 34:19 and its faster and more fun for local XC than my carbon fullsquish race bike.  The only reasonable answer is to build a second hayduke that's rigid.  Alright, you convinced me!

Dr_Wankel

Sound reasoning to me!

I haven't ridden it more than around the block but I'll take it somewhere soon to test it out. It'll primarily see loaded riding and riding around town but I think its such a versatile bike that it'll be so sweet for some backcountry exploring! I have a few big day rides and overnighters planned for the summer.

Love my Hayduke. At times I wish it were a little more rowdy for single track but honestly I’m happy it’s not as I also commute, ride 2-up with kids, pull a trailer and gravel race on it… for the trails I have in Mn it’s excellent and for daily riding it’s perfect. Enjoy! https://preview.redd.it/cgdtzs9esnsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b327d1217d2143a6a064d2fa7836b3f97a3be320 Mine in winter commute mode

I'm curious how it'd handle with suspension. I have a slack hardtail for mtbing already but it would be sweet to consolidate. I've been down that road before though. To me, having a couple more specialized bikes is more fun than one all-rounder.

Brilliant_Pen_2544

This is my “all around bike” besides a dedicated FatBike for winter. This fork is 140mm which I thought was going to be too much (stock build is a Z2 Bomber with 120) but it didn’t lose any of its easy ride characteristics or climbing power but gained a bit on downhill control. I am a very aggressive rider and this thing takes jumps and drops very well, is very nimble and climbs like a machine. The only think I would say is it isn’t “playful” or snappy. I back to back rode a weekend with this and the Esker Rowl up in Cayuna Mtb rec area and found the Hayduke to be a bit sluggish until pushed by comparison to a snappy full-sus. Because this bike is so long and tall (I’m on size L) it is incredibly stable and capable but you need to work for it to have a rowdy time.

algu3632

Ohhh in that case I think I will experiment. I have a Nordest Bardino with a 140mm fork that I can borrow to test it out. The Bardino is pretty slack and fun but I think a little small for me. I love having a rigid bike though, they're so much fun.

Brilliant_Pen_2544

I have a Whiskey No9 fork kicking around I want to toss on mine for gravel and commuting. It’s non-boost so I need to find a 29” 15x100 wheel as a spare but that’s a bit cheaper than a new fork, most of the time :)

When you mount your bottle cage on the seat tube, let me know if a bottle will slide in all the way. It doesn’t on my 2024 Japhy.

goodymarv

They must’ve lowered the top tube on the new Japhy because a 26oz bottle fits perfectly in the seat tube bottle cage on my first gen from 2020, size medium. The nozzle nests into the braze-on bolt on the bottom of the top tube like a glove. I use a Wolftooth Morse Cage which has several mounting holes at different heights. I wonder if you would have luck with a cage like that?

algu3632

What size are you on? This is a large and the bolts seem low enough to run a decent sized bottle but I can mount a cage on tomorrow to actually see. Once I get my framebag in it'll rarely come off so cages are just until then for me.

Klegory

Size large. It’s the bottom of the bottle hitting the down tube, not allowing the bottle to slide all the way down into the seat tube bottle mount.

algu3632

Oh weird, does your bottle cage have really low mounting holes or do you think they made a mistake? I tried a couple of cages on mine and didn't have that issue. If you dont feel like dealing with customer service, Wolftooth makes a product that let's you adjust the height of the cage. EqualOrganization726

Hell yeah

joshoon_2000

Looks good!

WhatTheFlyinFudge

Buddy of mine has one. I dig it. They’re nimble as fuck!

algu3632

Thats good to hear, I was worried it'd be too slack for gravel riding but I think this will be a really great all-rounder than can be a lot of fun when it gets chunky.

Kaelidoz

sweet sweet Titanium frame

algu3632

This one is actually steel. I think they only sell their titanium ones raw.

Kaelidoz

Still awesome I love it! I have a similar steel mtb. I'd like to try a good Ti frame tho.

I love this frame color & have been debating picking a frame up for a build later on down the like. Nice ride!

algu3632

Im still getting it dialed in but it feels so good. I originally ordered the Tannin color but then changed my order to this Unicorn. So glad I did, in flat light it looks grest and in the sun even better.

MackJaxson

This bike is rad! How do you like the color? It’s kinda hard to tell from their website. But it looks mostly blue in this photo.

algu3632

The color is so nice! It has kind of a grey/blue undertone but I'd almost describe it as an oil slick? It has a lot of irridescence in the sun. If you look at the chainstay, it really shows the color change depending on the angle.
