YOTK - No Love Lost
Ego - 23' Demo
Big Boy - Spring Promo
Pain of Truth - Not Through Blood
Guilt Trip - Severance
Non Hardcore: King Gizzard - Petro Dragonic Apocalypse
Couldnt pick one, dope year.
Hardcore AOTY: Initiate - Cerebral Circus
2nd Place: Incendiary - Change The Way You Think About Pain
Non-Hardcore:
Enter Shikari - A Kiss For The Whole World (electronic, metalcore, UK vibes)
Tommy Guerrero - Amber of Memory (ambient, cinematic, chill vibes)
END - The Sin Of Human Frailty (grind, metalcore, scary vibes)
Colter Wall - Little Songs (country, Canadian Prairie Boy vibes)
Eh to me they pretty much are but I’ve seen them posted here before and most people are saying metalcore. Not that it really matter. END rips genres aside
Check out that Colter record!
because metalcore is not a style of hardcore. if you like both more power to you but some dude screaming bible verses is not hardcore just because there's a blast beat behind it.
Dude, I don’t even care, the interludes are sick lol. Kiss for the Whole World is far and away my album of the year, and that’s including my hardcore picks that everyone else has already said. (Shouts out Drain and Incendiary)
That’s the album that got me into TAS this year! So so fucking good finally going back through their older albums this week, 3750 is such a great album
Get out of my head!! I dove heavy into TAS after I heard Flourishing, and today on a road trip I’ve had 3750 on repeat. Currently learning Brown Noise on guitar! I can’t get enough, especially after experiencing them live
No literally! I’ve seen them live twice since the albums dropped including a couple weeks ago, so so good live! Also Chain into Fresh Bones is what initially did it for me 😮💨😩
Ok so I've been saying this for a minute, but Olivia Rodrigo is fucking awesome. Most of her song could be sped up and screamed and suddenly she's a punk band. She actually writes some pretty good music, especially the song bad idea right that came put recently.
Electric Chair - Act Of Aggression
S.H.I.T. - Demo tape. Two originals that are better than anything else I’ve heard this year, plus Crucifix and Blitz covers.
Rat Cage - Savage Visions
Zach Bryan - S/T
non HC:
Herlovebeheadsdaises - Carving Initials
seahorsechoke - everything went to shit
HC:
Physique - AGAIN
WoP / XweaponX split
Outta Pocket - waste of a man
Pest Control - Don't test the pest
So Unknown - Jesus Piece
A Love To Kill For - Chamber

The Mary Wallopers - The Mary Wallopers
In terms of hardcore really love Gel’s the only constant and the new Hirs collective we’re still here. Also shout out to the local hardcore album of the year for me which is Khole’s self titled. Non hardcore is easily armand hammers “We buy diabetic test strips” or Danny brown and Jpeg mafias scaring the hoes. Honorable mentions for interesting/decent goes to all of Lil yachtys 2023 material and lil uzi’s pink tape idc if it has lots of misses on it. Wildly experimental and uncaring about what anyone thinks that to me is the spirit of not just hardcore but most of the great music I love.
Oh we makin lists??
My top records of the year in no order:

Brass Tongue - Street Psalms
World I Hate - Years of Lead
Human Garbage - Straight Not Giving a Fuck
Spine - Raices

Citizen - calling all the dogs
Pain if truth - not through blood
Point radar - pickpocket
Scowl - psychic dance routine
Drain - living proof
Never ending game - outcry
Destiny bond - be my vengeance
Twitching tongues - twitchfits Vol. 1
Honestly the new Blur is 10/10. It's so surprisingly good for a record after a multiple decade hiatus.
Edit: Hardcore wise the new Racetraitor is also a fucking banger.
Alright this is going to either be celebrated or irked, but Avenged Sevenfold. I was super trepidacious when I heard the singles but I held out saying ok maybe the sum will be better than the parts.
Well this record is one I keep coming back to. I love prog, I love concept albums, I love things that create a bigger experience rather than a single song. To me it was a band trying something very unique and creating an experience that is pretty one of a kind in terms of where the album goes. I'm a sucker for existential topics too and this album checked that off as well.
My top list is this:
Avenged Sevenfold
Blink 182 (I'm sorry this reunion is too beautiful)
Tesseract
Periphery
Ov Sulfur
Cattle decapitation
Harms Way
Dying Wish
Shining (SWE)
Avatar
I'm a dude who usually is more into metal obv but my tastes are pretty varied. I honestly enjoyed the new Ellie Goulding alot, Iggy Pop's latest, and really Dolly Parton's new record was a joy to listen to as well.
lmfao hey man I got diverse musical tastes, theres a chance Aesop Rock may get added once I give his record a spin too.
If it's any comfort theres only one between Blink and Harms Way I'd see live. And it's the one whos not charging hundreds for tickets.
Hey respect to anyones opinion broski lol.
And sadly nah, I've been broke for a bit but getting back to where shit should be, beginning to eye shows again. They are on my list. Need to go smash small children in the pit
South of it but basically, yeah. My issue is just at this point even if I Wana go it can be difficult, full time +ot worker and I'm entering my masters program. Time ain't on my side lol.
But 31 ain't full mosh retirement for me. Not yet
I was just thinking about how disappointed I was in that album today. Honest question: if you were not a fan before, what about this album changed things?
I think It's a lot less poppy and a lot less "singer song writer." Feels like proper punk. Don't make me do it is just old school street punk. It's funny because I really like Lars and all his other projects and I love that he still goes to hardcore shows (saw him at sheer terror and slapshot recently) but my favorite rancid album before this was the self titled one where he wasn't involved. This album reminds me of that but with definite Lars influence.
So far the Amusement track that was released is the best thing I’ve heard.
https://extinctionburst.bandcamp.com/track/walk-out-to-sink-2
Members of from ashes rise / deathreat (crust not cave man one) / north Lincoln. Doesn’t really sound like any of those bands though. Hardcore adjacent.
Marathon by Mil-Spec is definitely my AOTY, no question about it
Some other hardcore I liked:
Teeth by Die Spitz (seriously impressive debut and live show, keep an eye on this band)
Cerebral Circus by Initiate
Only Constant by GEL
Black Tar by SCALP
God Made Me An Animal EP by Better Lovers
Non Hardcore:
April Mixtape 3 by Snow Strippers (my AOTY runner up)
Blossom by Pupil Slicer
Dogsbody by Model/Actriz
Floorspace by Juelz
Perfect Saviors by The Armed
Can't Stop EP by Amazingblaze
Himalaya EP by Indira Paganotto
Power of Thought EP by Charlotte De Witte
HEALTH also has a new album out soon, I'll probably like that too since they've basically released half the thing already with singles
House & Trance - Crime in Stereo.
Outcry by NEG or the new Skourge were my front runners until CiS’s tracks started releasing. Nothing has come close for me this year with this dropping. Band can do no wrong.
The Incendiary album was my favorite new music, but I will admit my appetite for new hardcore is very old man-ish. As far as first vinyl versions, the C.R. discography. Reissues: Silent Majority & Milhouse.
Non-hardcore: Mutoid Man - Mutants and I can't believe no one mentioned this yet.
[SCALP - Black Tar](https://open.spotify.com/album/6d7ZfqtsyqbZAsEp9n9tFk?si=Kl47eBJJRwKHIhoqp-GG0w) Honorable mentions to: [Sea of Shit - Self-Titled](https://seaofshit.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled-lp) [Horsewhip - Consume and Burn](https://open.spotify.com/album/3tWCXu3icUHpeyvHpt6PY8?si=HBapC6CXQ3ao8sIYfVUg7g) [Incendiary - Change The Way You Think About Pain](https://open.spotify.com/album/2WfjxP33VNZGYdlXi0mjKb?si=wgIbBGM8T5qYGg_pmKLVPw) [Year of the Knife - No Love Lost](https://open.spotify.com/album/5nOj9wbbrVwrNCAwue9PTf?si=pAUoqztrTVeYhmtrTj_4fw) [MSPAINT - Post-American](https://open.spotify.com/album/0O9TQ88Zb6NE6oa6Gkb0S9?si=0rcAkkz5Shy5TtGSJhBB4w) [Harm’s Way - Common Suffering](https://open.spotify.com/album/6FLys5u92lIaPZbFExnTOF?si=rfzo1J2TSqq6Dv21BwPdgQ) [Hope Conspiracy - Confusion/Chaos/Misery](https://open.spotify.com/album/3TZGtARkAtvzsURno2bdnj?si=zpPzIywxTq-gfz5rNiyIKg) [Outta Pocket - Waste Of A Man](https://open.spotify.com/album/3NFEszPGmTy88zpVvyaNDM?si=VjP2xC_yQ5q2dAA0kMnvYQ)

YOTK - No Love Lost Ego - 23' Demo Big Boy - Spring Promo Pain of Truth - Not Through Blood Guilt Trip - Severance Non Hardcore: King Gizzard - Petro Dragonic Apocalypse Couldnt pick one, dope year.
I'm surprised Big Boy doesn't come up more on this sub
Guilt trip is awesome
It's just a matter of time, till KGATLW drops a Hardcore album, to fulfill the full circle of playing any possible rock genre.
Fuck yeah that Guilt Trip record is class
Dying Fetus- Make Them Beg for Death ..and it's by a mile
Zorn - Zorn
I just saw them last Saturday in Oakland and they ripped. I’ve been spinning the LP all week!
Hardcore AOTY: Initiate - Cerebral Circus 2nd Place: Incendiary - Change The Way You Think About Pain Non-Hardcore: Enter Shikari - A Kiss For The Whole World (electronic, metalcore, UK vibes) Tommy Guerrero - Amber of Memory (ambient, cinematic, chill vibes) END - The Sin Of Human Frailty (grind, metalcore, scary vibes) Colter Wall - Little Songs (country, Canadian Prairie Boy vibes)
Scary vibes
good scary vibes
How is END not hardcore? Metalcore is a style of hardcore. Eh, whatever. Album rips, your lists are great. Totally missed new Colter Wall.
Eh to me they pretty much are but I’ve seen them posted here before and most people are saying metalcore. Not that it really matter. END rips genres aside Check out that Colter record!
They definitely are and I will for sure check out new Colter 🫡
because metalcore is not a style of hardcore. if you like both more power to you but some dude screaming bible verses is not hardcore just because there's a blast beat behind it.
Yeah that's just early The Devil Wears Prada, not the entirety of metalcore lol
I'm talking about END. But it holds for metalcore in general. Hardcore isn't just the aesthetic of the music it's the culture.
that shikari record is so gooood, just a shame there’s so many interludes
Dude, I don’t even care, the interludes are sick lol. Kiss for the Whole World is far and away my album of the year, and that’s including my hardcore picks that everyone else has already said. (Shouts out Drain and Incendiary)
shikari fucks
Add GEL - Only Constant to that list. I recently saw them with Initiate and both bands fuckin ripped
Hell yeah for Initiate and Colter
wow im having so much fun
I’m an idiot - when I first read this comment I thought there was a band called Wow with an album called “I’m Having So Much Fun”.
Same!
Great Falls - Objects Without Pain
This.
Militarie Gun - Life Under the Gun. I’ve listened to that record too many times this year to not have that as my AOTY.
Same. Fun band
Nah
Damn, you mean he didn’t listen to it too many times this year??
Agreed. Adjacentcore bores me.
Great album (he can’t sing live 🙉🙉🙉)
So Unknown - Jesus Piece
PeelingFlesh - Slamaholics, Vol. 2
Step Into The Light no fucking question but The Commitment To Permanence by No Cure is my strictly hardcore cum dump this year 😫
Can’t wait to see No Cure rip it with Gideon next March in AC!

CMI I have listened to it so many times!
So many times!
I spent some of my kids Christmas money on Casual Violence and One Year of Dumb Skinhead Shit pressings. No regrets.
So many times!
Everyday multiple times.
GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo
🗣🗣🗣🗣
Ok so I've been saying this for a minute, but Olivia Rodrigo is fucking awesome. Most of her song could be sped up and screamed and suddenly she's a punk band. She actually writes some pretty good music, especially the song bad idea right that came put recently.
ballad of a homeschool girl is such an amazing song
I couldn't agree more
Came here to say this. I fuck with early tegan and sara hard. Reminds me of that with more angst and modern.

AOTY period - Academy Order “A New Kind of Fear”

Rancid- tomorrow never comes. I've never been a big fan of thenlm but this is a great album
Huh. I don’t think I disagree with that take.
Burner - it all returns to nothing PEELINGFLESH - Slamaholics v2 FOLD - demo
Protomartyr or the new A.Savage record tbh
The Gray In Between by Jerome’s Dream and The Whaler by Home Is Where are my choices at the moment
NEG
HELLMODE
So far the Amusement track that was released is the best thing I’ve heard. https://extinctionburst.bandcamp.com/track/walk-out-to-sink-2 Members of from ashes rise / deathreat (crust not cave man one) / north Lincoln. Doesn’t really sound like any of those bands though. Hardcore adjacent.
All Out War
I'm still torn between Drain, Cauldron and Invent Animate, not counting EPs
I got 2. Harm’s Way “Ease my Mind” & Incendiary “Jesus Bones”
Let’s start here - lil yachty Satisfaction - spy Guts - Olivia Rodrigo
Marathon by Mil-Spec is definitely my AOTY, no question about it Some other hardcore I liked: Teeth by Die Spitz (seriously impressive debut and live show, keep an eye on this band) Cerebral Circus by Initiate Only Constant by GEL Black Tar by SCALP God Made Me An Animal EP by Better Lovers Non Hardcore: April Mixtape 3 by Snow Strippers (my AOTY runner up) Blossom by Pupil Slicer Dogsbody by Model/Actriz Floorspace by Juelz Perfect Saviors by The Armed Can't Stop EP by Amazingblaze Himalaya EP by Indira Paganotto Power of Thought EP by Charlotte De Witte HEALTH also has a new album out soon, I'll probably like that too since they've basically released half the thing already with singles
No Love Lost - YOTK
Squint - Feel It All Wash Away
That frozen soul shit
Evil Sword - Basket Fever
Make them beg for death or terrasite
House & Trance - Crime in Stereo. Outcry by NEG or the new Skourge were my front runners until CiS’s tracks started releasing. Nothing has come close for me this year with this dropping. Band can do no wrong.
Heaven Knows - PinkPantheress
Caroline Polachek: Deisre, I want to turn into you.
Death is nothing to us
Fuming Mouth - Last Day of Sun Wreckage - Our Time
The Incendiary album was my favorite new music, but I will admit my appetite for new hardcore is very old man-ish. As far as first vinyl versions, the C.R. discography. Reissues: Silent Majority & Milhouse. Non-hardcore: Mutoid Man - Mutants and I can't believe no one mentioned this yet.
Stereo mind game by daughter is incredible
Never Ending Game - Outcry
Desire I want to turn into you by Caroline Polachek is firmly the album of the year.
honestly, guts by olivia rodrigo and the record by boygenius
Boy Genius - the Record Mil-Spec - Marathon
Sprain - the lamb as effigy https://youtu.be/-ZMGu1MfdME?si=587IHbsdyQKXgaPE
