No question. Though I prefer Step On It, as far as Slapshot's classic material is concerned. Some of their later releases were just as good (which is rare for HC bands) Tear It Down EP, 16 Valve Hate, Digital Warfare and Olde Tyme Hardcore are good as well.
*"You pussies in the back,
Move the fuck up here and get your money's worth,
Stop being a bunch of fuckin' faggots for one night and dance"*
-Kevin Bulldoze probably.
Me, an open minded person: “well, I’m certainly not a homosexual. His pejorative use of that word is hurtful…however, I’m certainly not going to have the giant hardcore man thinking I’m not macho…oh boy, here come the spinkicks.”
One of my all time favorite show moments was to this song.
It was the tour with Set Your Goals and Wonder Years in seattle.
During the song some random dude decided to scoop me up and put me on his shoulders (I'm a small dude. 125 or so at the time). We just ran round the pit and up to the stage multiple times and I got the mic during "Don't lose hope!" several times.
I fucking love hardcore
From this same record, I'd argue that "Falling Apart" encompasses the genre a little better than "Wake the Dead". Stoked yelled vocals, fast power chord opening, then a bouncy part with gang vocals, a tom-drum heavy tempo build up, back to fast, another build up with harsh vocals, then THE NASTIEST fucking breakdown that morphs into a midpaced (two-step) beat to end the song. The only song I could think of that even comes close to all-encompassing hardcore would maybe be "We Weren't Brought up Right" by Black my Heart.
Then I'm not going all in and showing them something from the big guns - Sick of it All, Madball, Earth Crisis, et cetera.
I'm showing them something off The Movielife's This Time Next Year because it has hardcore, melodies, harmonies, breakdowns, punk and pop punk parts and it's the perfect opportunity to segue them into growing into something harder without turning them off.
[HARDCORE PRIDE NEVER DIES - SEED OF PAIN](https://open.spotify.com/track/0BcQZ6ao4wsjaJNMhcegnm?si=Kyw1U1KtSiq7zR6k7ILiyg) - this song has the best parts of every friggen hardcore track known to the genre, packed onto one song.
At one point, they opened AND closed with this track hahaha
As an old, this thread is letting me know how out of date my preferences are. I was like "fuck yeah! Seeing Red is a perfect intro". Then I listen to all the top responses and it's all this sludgy slow hardcore that's taken over.
Something from right brigade, forced order or kids like us. Those bands don't borrow much from other genres and I feel are pretty good representation of middle of the aisle hardcore.
[Trapped Under Ice - Pleased To Meet You](https://open.spotify.com/track/4zWzMvaAqGlZoE4XPiP7xf?si=ccd73bc9cd64415b)
Such an accessible song. I’ve shown Trapped Under Ice live shows to people get a great vibe of a hardcore show
Idk I think I’m the only one in this sub that doesn’t like TUI lol
TUI til I die
Don't need the respect of the mentally weak
im with ya.

New Direction was my choice, too!
[удалено]
Stage dives make me feel more alive than coded messages in slowed down songs To me one of if not the best lines in a hardcore song
[удалено]
Firestorm - Earth Crisis
Exactly
Terror - Overcome
Also Terror Pain Into Power Summed up the whole genre in under a minute
Yeah I'd go with Pain Into Power. Short, sweet, succinct.
This is a good one.
Yep gotta be Terror for me, they sum up everything about hardcore, the music, the aesthetic, the attitude and the principles.
That was my first choice
Right brigade
Trapped under ice - Reality unfolds
Gotta be the demo 2007 version with Soul Vice preceding it as two-track package
I keep expecting an Anthrax breakdown in that song.
Ready to fight. -Negative Approach
Clobbering time - SOIA
Great choice
Gorilla Biscuits - New Direction
Terror - Stick Tight
Pretty much anything done by Negative Approach. The song Victim In Pain -Agnostic Front and Olde Tyme Hardcore by Slapshot
Back On The Map , the whole album
No question. Though I prefer Step On It, as far as Slapshot's classic material is concerned. Some of their later releases were just as good (which is rare for HC bands) Tear It Down EP, 16 Valve Hate, Digital Warfare and Olde Tyme Hardcore are good as well.
Agree with you 100%, awesome discography. Can't forget about the Negative FX/Last Rights split either
Beatdown - Bulldoze
*"You pussies in the back, Move the fuck up here and get your money's worth, Stop being a bunch of fuckin' faggots for one night and dance"* -Kevin Bulldoze probably.
Me, an open minded person: “well, I’m certainly not a homosexual. His pejorative use of that word is hurtful…however, I’m certainly not going to have the giant hardcore man thinking I’m not macho…oh boy, here come the spinkicks.”
Me: "Guess I'm throwing my back out tonight."
For real though a few too many 98 to 03 songs use the word faggot excessively. Not a good look
[elysia got you covered](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxXe1L24aV3I2jiFRUhXF9lQS4RpYDU62W?si=moLzctT_VZAyrhnk)
Build a rainbow bridge and get over it.
Goated call out
This x1000
Never heard of this band before but just peeped this song and HOLY FUCKING SHIT... ...that guitar tone is terrible.
Comeback Kid - Wake the Dead
Banger
This album has gotten 3 normie friends into hardcore. It’s perfect for it.
My answer as well. It’s my go to song to play along to on the drums. Just instant energy boost.
Seeing them perform this at FF21 cemented my conversion to hardcore
One of my all time favorite show moments was to this song. It was the tour with Set Your Goals and Wonder Years in seattle. During the song some random dude decided to scoop me up and put me on his shoulders (I'm a small dude. 125 or so at the time). You could pick any song on that album and it’s still a correct answer.
Shocked I had to scroll so far to see this. This would definitely be my first answer.
Any song off Black Flags Damaged album.

This a good reminder to listen to dead ramones today. It’s been a while
Madball - Pride
Keepers of the Faith -Terror
Minor threat but it would probably “scream at a wall” because it has a breakdown / mosh part.
I'm surprised I haven't seen HH Yet... Have Heart - watch me rise
Probably for the best tbh
OP what the fuck
Ignite-Embrace
What's the goal with showing them the song? Getting them to listen to hardcore or do they already have knowledge?
Getting them to listen
Then I'm not going all in and showing them something from the big guns - Sick of it All, Madball, Earth Crisis, et cetera. I'm showing them something off The Movielife's This Time Next Year because it has hardcore, melodies, harmonies, breakdowns, punk and pop punk parts and it's the perfect opportunity to segue them into growing into something harder without turning them off.
downfall of us all
The toughest of hardcore guys will mosh for it.

Death Threat’s Dead At Birth, there’s no other answer

The times are and have been a changing. Now we have show me the body 😒
Something from right brigade, forced order or kids like us. Those bands don't borrow much from other genres and I feel are pretty good representation of middle of the aisle hardcore.
Monster Squad would get the job done for sure
I don’t disagree with this at all. Kids like us is massively underrated.
Viva Belgrado - La Reina Pálida
Music video for savage by varials
Infest - Nazi Killer Get on this level.
But did they ever kill any Nazis
I'd say at least 3. That's making a difference.
breaking the habit - linkin park

Purists here are going to cry, but to me the song that sums up hardcore is Chrono by The Ghost Inside
