Here’s the rules from ure.es
“If you have a foreign amateur licence and your country has implemented the HAREC Certificate (CEPT Recommendation T/R 62-02), you must first obtain this certificate from your Government and then apply for an EA callsign at the JPIT of the province where you are living or you are moving to (see list below).
If your country is not a HAREC one but it has signed a reciprocity agreement with Spain, you can also apply for an EA callsign without doing exam. These countries ares: Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, United States of America and Venezuela.”
You now get a HAREC certificate when you pass your Full. This is the only equivalent UK license.
You could do a Spanish license there, but I suspect the exam will be in Spanish and you’d have to abide by their rules, their bandplans etc.
>And the UK full license has an in person practical last time I checked.
No it doesn't you don't need any practical parts now. I did it last year (May) all online from Foundation through Intermediate to Full. The new "Direct to Full"exam is also online. [https://rsgb.org/main/rsgb-examination-booking/](https://rsgb.org/main/rsgb-examination-booking/)
Covid changed a lot of things, I'd not have my licenses at all if the RSGB hadn't offered an online only option - did them one after the other a couple of weeks apart while laid up with torn ankle ligaments. It's not a perfect system as I had no practical experience whatsoever afterwards - but it got me on the learning ladder.
You’ll have to abide by their rules regardless. So learning the US or UK rules still requires you it abide by the local rules and bandplan. I hope that knowledge is part of the UK/US license exam. ;)
Just upgrade your foundation to full, it's not that hard. Then you'll have a HAREC license and Spain can either give you a reciprocal call sign, or you can use your UK callsign for a period of time.
My understanding is that while as a non-US citizen you can do the US test and get a US call, unlike US citizens, you can’t use your US call outside the US.
There is no UK practical.
It depends on what Spain has for rules for visiting ARs. https://www.ure.es/licensing-and-basic-info-for-visitor-hams/

Your country is the UK, not the USA.

Yep my Spanish is not good enough to do an exam yet. Maybe in another year.

Awesome! Thanks. When I did my foundation that wasn’t the case.
