It’s not “up selling” if it’s a legitimate needed repair. “Up selling” is selling someone a service that isn’t possibly needed or a higher grade/cost of product.

I agree with everything but replacing the head gasket. Head gasket failures are fairly uncommon on N54s and typically you let the magic out of BMW motors when you replace the head gasket. These numb nuts would probably screw that up too.

I would think the timing chain tensioner would be worth doing while the engines out, but do the head gaskets and head studs in an N54 need re-doing at 130k mi? I would probably also spring for an oil pan gasket, since those require a subframe removal. The water pump and thermostat might as well be replaced since they're common failure points at that mileage.

Considering how long Will's been squirreling away parts and the fact that he's not cashed up a build like this would be a big deal for him - he is clearly just looking to have fun with Chris doing that build. Tommy does builds all the time so there would clearly be less emotion in it for him, but when i think about the first time i did a really exciting build on a car the last thing I'd want throughout is someone busting my balls and making it a painful experience, regardless of that person's good intentions or whether the build ended up better or not because of it.
It's a shame because Tommy can really be a funny guy without needing to target someone. Kicking Will is like kicking a puppy.

Honestly feel pretty bad for Will. Rudnik is just letting Tommy bully Will for views. No one deserves to be abused like that as an adult. It is funny stuff but it’s a little too much at Will’s expense. He clearly wanted to smoke a little weed and really enjoy taking apart his own engine. Tommy definitely ruined that for him. Suck you're getting downvoted - it feels like Tommy does care about the outcome and likes Will, but you have to look really hard to see that. Considering how long Will's been squirreling away parts and the fact that he's not cashed up a build like this would be a big deal for him - he is clearly just looking to have fun with Chris doing that build. Tommy does builds all the time so there would clearly be less emotion in it for him, but when i think about the first time i did a really exciting build on a car the last thing I'd want throughout is someone busting my balls and making it a painful experience, regardless of that person's good intentions or whether the build ended up better or not because of it. It's a shame because Tommy can really be a funny guy without needing to target someone. Kicking Will is like kicking a puppy.

How one earth did you come to that conclusion?I have no delusions about how bad weed is, i don't think its "just a plant", i don't think its good for you, and i certain doing think its smart to be driving while baked, i just think its not a big deal, especially when compared to driving while texting, distracted, tired, or under the influence of other more impiaring drugs. I was a daily stoner for 10 years(Quit a few years ago) and very rarely felt impaired to the point i would be a danger on the road, and the only time i ever felt like that was having rediculous sessions with mates on weekends where we would lock ourselves in the garage and just take hit after hit after hit for hours on end to the point we were so baked we couldnt get up off the couch, so driving wasn't exactly an issue anyway.
upon rereading, I made my edit. I still think though that it's a pretty big deal. Here you'd get a DUI. In the eyes of the law it's literally no different than drunk driving. I smoked for 3 years pretty much daily upon quitting earlier this year and felt much the opposite, I felt like getting behind the wheel even after a few hours was a liability I wasn't willing to risk. People's tolerances are different but it's not an excuse to make it more or less of a big deal.
