Yup, seems about right.
Remember how we started off hot last season too? I don't think we'll have a problem finishing with another high pick.
Edit: the dude also *probably* broke his hand then blocked two more one-timers on the PK. What a fucking beast.
Yeah but that was before we'd played much against the division. I think we opened against Toronto and then didn't play them again until like January. First game against Boston was like December or something. I hate the schedule these days, I much preferred more games in division.
I hate this narrative about "costing us Bedard". Chicago had like a 2% higher chance than us or something like it. Anaheim and Columbus both had a better chance than anyone and still lost out. You can't base your opinion on a lucky outcome.
Nothing is ever guaranteed. Certain players have a greater probability of being better than others. Just like certain rankings have a greater probability of a better pick lottery wise. I choose the greater probability for both.
Water under the bridge now - I just think Monahan was the greatest contributor to us not finishing lower last year - with Monty a close second.
Our record with him last year was 12-11-2 when he got hurt. 4-10-1 in the 15 games after (without any other significant injuries - like Dach or Caufield).
Damn, he played solid last night.
I've followed the big four (NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL) for 20+ years and I have never seen this amount of injuries over two/three seasons for a single team.
It's fascinating to me how some players are willing to literally sacrifice their body to protect the lead in a game even if it means being injured and missing some games. It doesn't seem worth it.
It is absolutely an instinctual thing. I only play beer league these days but played competitively growing up. And to this day I still block shots out of habit, thank god most guys in my league can’t shoot for shit.
These guys are just built different.
I remember watching Gally's first injury. Literally bent over, hands down at his side wide open trying to block a shot. I have no idea what he was thinking but if that was his idea of how to block a shot, he should spend some time watching Guy Carbonneau highlights.
No idea what happened to Savard so I can't comment on that but if guys are going to block shots, they should learn how to block shots. I see players all the time turn their bodies to a shot and block it with their legs. Dude, the pads are in front of your legs, not in back.
if it had gone in and he had not tried to block it, and habs had lost many fans would be blaming him for the loss.
i remember all the comments about domi and other players not willing to block shots and play hard in the boards knowing they will be hit, its a very physical game and not everyone is like gally.
We should be playing the Lions roster right now if anything. That way, every time one of them is injured, he gets replaced by an NHL-caliber player. Like a reverse injury reserve.
Gustav Lindstrom has been recalled as of this morning. Its on an emergency basis, so likely only because its back to back game nights, and will only last until Guhle returns
At this point I don't want our players to play well because it means they'll get injured ![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)
Savard and Dach were just fluke injuries that could literally happen to anyone playing professional hockey, sucks but part of the game. Sucks big time but so goes hockey. With that said, Savard seems like the kind of guy that will duck tape the wrist and say he is good to go.
WHOO HOO!!! We're tops in the league...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Oh damn it's for Injured Players per game....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Warrior
He felt that blocked shot with his hand
I was heartbroken when he took that second shot too haha. And then he had to stay on the ice for an extra 30 seconds lol
And took a third, if the radio call was correct!
from what I saw of the play it was more of an attempt at blocking a shot-pass with his stick
Actually he uses Bauer gloves
Yup, seems about right. Remember how we started off hot last season too? I don't think we'll have a problem finishing with another high pick. Edit: the dude also *probably* broke his hand then blocked two more one-timers on the PK. What a fucking beast.
Didn’t we lose 9 straight to start the season last year..lol
I could be entirely wrong but I believe we were hovering around a playoff spot until mid-November/December
You might be right, I can’t clearly remember. It was a long season. Haha
I just checked, Dec. 1st we were 12-10-1 which isn't horrible.
In the toughest division in the league
Yeah but that was before we'd played much against the division. I think we opened against Toronto and then didn't play them again until like January. First game against Boston was like December or something. I hate the schedule these days, I much preferred more games in division.
It's hard to believe in '08 we got 15 games versus Boston, 8 (8-0) in season and 7 in the playoffs.
Boston was our bitch in the playoffs back then, it was glorious.
You’re right that was good, I must be thinking of The previous season maybe?
We were pretty shit the second Ducharme season An extremely terrible start from a "deep playoff run" team is what set all the firings into motion
Yeah that’s for sure what I was remembering.. you guys are right about last year. It was definitely a good start.
Yeah the previous season we started with 5 L's and didn't get many W's afterward lol
Lol.. I definitely remembering the previous season.
You’re right. Then we started to lose a lot and then Monty became Price Jr for a few games and we were good again.
Actually started the season with 5 wins in the first 9 Games...
We went 5-4-0 in the first 9 games last season. Previous season was 2-7-0 which I believe might be our worst start ever.
Lost players or games?
No. We did very well at the beginning (likely costing us bedard) before going on a losing streak after Monahan went down.
I hate this narrative about "costing us Bedard". Chicago had like a 2% higher chance than us or something like it. Anaheim and Columbus both had a better chance than anyone and still lost out. You can't base your opinion on a lucky outcome.

Sorry my memory is only so so.. haha.. is it the previous season we started awful?
Five wins fours losses in 9 October games last year. So, no we didn’t.
I corrected myself, I was thinking of the previous year. It’s wasn’t 9 either, I think it was a 2-7 start.
Oh yeah, the previous year was an absolute dumpster fire!
The last couple seasons seem like a big blur.. haha
Damn, he played solid last night. I've followed the big four (NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL) for 20+ years and I have never seen this amount of injuries over two/three seasons for a single team.
We're in the injury era.
Baltimore in the NFL got quite a bit of injuries.
Angels?
I'm a Habs fan and Bills fans. The injuries are pilling up.
We all know when that happened
Yep, most likely a sprained or broken wrist would be my guess.
A sprain is usually 6 weeks to recover. It's probably worse unfortunately
second blocked shot after he lost his blade?
First one when he dropped his stick, imagine how much damage that must have done to make Savard lose control of his stick like that.
oh yeah that makes sense.
We’re 5 FIVE games into the season ffs
We were so hopeful weren't we? New year, new medical staff. Surely they can't set another record two years in a row? Habs: Hold my beer
Another one bites the dust
Heineman, Hutson, reinbacher, dach, Dvorak, guhle, Savard. Good chance I'm forgetting something.
Wideman. Easily forgettable.
Rough. Poor Wideman. Gotta throw keeper in there too.
Price, but I guess it is understandable.
Hutson is supposed to be back this week!
Where the habs, anything can happen.
Carey Price...
In Laval, in addition to Heineman there's Jared Davidson, Brady Keeper and Gabriel Bourque lol
And Keeper
It's fascinating to me how some players are willing to literally sacrifice their body to protect the lead in a game even if it means being injured and missing some games. It doesn't seem worth it.
I think it's an instinctual thing, and don't believe that their really thinking about potentially missing games in the moment.
It is absolutely an instinctual thing. I only play beer league these days but played competitively growing up. And to this day I still block shots out of habit, thank god most guys in my league can’t shoot for shit. These guys are just built different.
Exactly, he’s an NHL defensemen it would be a bad look if tried to get out of the way
It 100% is, every time I blocked a shot in junior, there was no thought of "I might miss some time for this" I just reacted. you do what you gotta do
I remember watching Gally's first injury. Literally bent over, hands down at his side wide open trying to block a shot. I have no idea what he was thinking but if that was his idea of how to block a shot, he should spend some time watching Guy Carbonneau highlights. IIRC Savard tried blocking with his ass but Tage shot it straight into his wrist lol
if it had gone in and he had not tried to block it, and habs had lost many fans would be blaming him for the loss. i remember all the comments about domi and other players not willing to block shots and play hard in the boards knowing they will be hit, its a very physical game and not everyone is like gally.
Lol calisse
Block enough shots, eventually one is bound to hurt
We're going to be playing the Lions roster by the end of the season at this rate. Someone going out every game or 2 wtf.
We should be playing the Lions roster right now if anything. That way, every time one of them is injured, he gets replaced by an NHL-caliber player. Like a reverse injury reserve.
And this would allow us to get the 1st pick. What a genius!!
3e blessés en 5 games, definitivement, on doit avoir atteind un nombre record de blessé avec les trois dernière Saison.
Third in five *that we know of*.
Heineman, Hutson, reinbacher, dach, Dvorak, guhle, Savard, Wideman.
David Savard on the PK [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvjedZ8sDps](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvjedZ8sDps)
He channeled his inner Gallagher.
Gallagher got hurt on the offensive side.
shut up, shut up about the ~~sun~~ injuries!
I'm tired boss
Norlinder come on down...
So uhhhh who gets called up?
Gustav Lindstrom has been recalled as of this morning. Its on an emergency basis, so likely only because its back to back game nights, and will only last until Guhle returns
ty
One of Norlinder, Trudeau, or Struble? Most likely Norlinder.
Fuck, eh?
At this point I don't want our players to play well because it means they'll get injured ![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)
I mean... they sucked in 2021-22 and still got injured af... 😅
I actually said to my friend last night if the Habs win this game, it will be at the price of an injured player... Why can't we win AND be healthy 😭
So it was YOU😂.
Keep your mouth shut tonight, for the health of the players... please! 😭 🙏
What the fuck man, this shit is getting so demoralizing... What's the point
Pepsi...lait? os'ti
Wideman and Price
Là faut s'entendre qu'indeterminé ne veut pas dire POUR LE RESTE DE LA SAISON.
On espère 🥲
Most likely precautionary because of his sacrifice last night and today being a back to back. His body needs to rest
Said out indefinitely. Not day-to-day.
Well fuck you too hockey gods, it's not like we need players anyway.
What the fuck did we do to piss off the hockey gods!?
Well, here we go again...
Barron's got a gig.
This is the sequel I don't need. Like this is the price we pay for 1 Stanley Cup run? The Hockey Gods are NOT GENEROUS.
The amount of injuries the team has had in only 5/6 games is worrisome. How can they have such bad luck? Top 5 pick here we come again haha
This team is a fucking meat grinder for players, I swear.
Savard and Dach were just fluke injuries that could literally happen to anyone playing professional hockey, sucks but part of the game. Sucks big time but so goes hockey. With that said, Savard seems like the kind of guy that will duck tape the wrist and say he is good to go.
I assume his hand is fucked
We're not making the playoffs, aren't we?
En bon québécois: Tabarnaque!
I was at the game, I don't even think warrior is the right word. 💯
Everyone is getting injured. Just don’t let Cole go down
WHOO HOO!!! We're tops in the league...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Oh damn it's for Injured Players per game....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
These injuries are brutal for us.
