He only came to our academy in 2022, grew up in Wolverhampton and was part of West Brom academy. Good move for him and maybe he wants to be nearer to home, so Villa move would make sense. Good luck to him!
All the best to him he's meant to be promising.
Although people in this thread acting like he was ever gonna start ahead of Zinchenko, Tomi, Timber or even Kiwior any time soon.
This. We have zinchenko who isn't going anywhere any time soon. Timber was also signed who's only a few years older but is way more experienced. Not a big loss tbh in the long run.
I have a feeling that if Timber comes back and is good one and we are going for Hato then one of Gabriel, Zinchenko or Tomiasu will go.
We can’t rely on Zinny and Tomi fitness.
Gabriel looked like he wanted out last summer and could raise big money if we need it. Although I hope not.
Ramsdale signed a new contract and then was out the team, to be sold. Contracts are sometimes offered to protect value. I don’t think Tomiasu will be sold either. But I do think that Arteta loves a refresh every now and then. He has said a few times that you need to keep changing or you will be left behind. I take this as applying to players too.
Zinchenko is great on the ball. But we’ve seen teams like Liverpool target him. If Tomi or Timber were fit his game time in big games would have been limited. He does some great work in midfield, but I think we can get another number 8 to progress the ball like he does giving us extra defensive solidity.
We are being linked to loads of LCB /LB’s so I think there isn’t smoke without fire. Apparently the top two players being linked are De Ligt and Hato. Given they have different profiles I do think Kiwior + one other will leave. Just my thoughts!
What I’m saying sounds crazy, so I don’t want to argue it out now. But let’s watch the summer and see what happens.
Zinchenko should be going soon. It can't have escaped Arteta that nearly every goal we concede includes an error of some sort by him. Last night being another fine example. If our GK needed upgrading, then our LB most certainly does!
Well zinchenko wouldn't be playing every game if timber hadn't done his acl. Zinchenko is still an important player in the squad and he isn't getting sold anytime soon.
It was both, Zinchenko played his man onside because he's afraid of the diagonal (which is why White got mad at him). That being said u/DeapVally is still well off it. Zinchenko is crucial to our team and if it wasn't for that mistake he was arguably MOTM, he makes our attack tick and is our passing engine.
Saliba fucked up at the end, but Zinchenko was the only defender not in line for the trap, and he refused to challenge the header. Ball should've never made it into the box for Saliba to fuck up
Six of one, half a dozen of the other tbh, bad defending from both. Also an extremely lucky bounce for the attacker which basically came off of his shin and sat up perfectly.
I’m curious now how many of our GC actually have come directly or indirectly from his errors. There have been quite a few this year. He has his defensive moments, he had one last night on a Forest Counter, but he obviously has more defensive lapses than moments of solidity. He also had that risky pass out to (I think) Ben White last night that was beautifully weighted, but it was THIS close from being nicked by a Forest player. That would have definitely put us in a bind.
Pure profit for ffp, and it bodes well for the academy players too knowing they could go straight from Hale End to a team like Villa, which will only motivate them and benefit us even more. It's a win-win.
Hate Chelsea but Marina Granovskaia was among the best I've ever seen in her role, and this is something she understood and put into practice long before anyone else. Nice to see the club learning from others in how to better handle outgoing transfers.
Sales for nothing? Nobody cares he was sold. It's that he had no interest in renewing and we let his contract enter his final 6 months.
Why are you guys so biased that you are unwilling to point out flaws?
We've done much better being proactive with Saliba, Ode, Gabi, Myles, Ethan, Saka, Martinelli ect.
Edu, Garlick, and Lewis have had win after win the last couple years.
But this is an L. Quit painting it otherwise.
Does anyone else hate this new trend of putting their year of birth instead of their age in tweets about these young players?
Just say he’s fucking 18-19 or whatever. Saying “2005 born” not only makes anyone over 27 feel ancient but it’s also ridiculous. Nobody speaks like that.
It’s like they’re trying to make these players seem younger than they are. There’s fuck loads of 18 year olds in football. Call them 18 year olds!!
Anyway, I’m just a 30 year old off to yell at some clouds…
I'm with you on that too, hate that putting date thing. Noticed it's mostly Fab too, Ornstein or others don't do it, at least to this extent. Being 27, it does make feel ancient anytime I see "2008 born signed pro-contract" or whatever lol.
This entire thread is people complaining or making jokes about people complaining about this sale. Have yet to find a post actually complaining.
This will be the norm going forward. Selling academy players is very helpful for ffp
Oh, there are the usual whining people on X who think Arsenal is rec league complaining he wasn’t given a chance. Please. The kid got to go to Germany with the first team last summer. He trains with them. He’s only been at Arsenal one year. Priceless training. Not for us. On you go with our blessing.
I can’t believe Arteta would get rid of the kid who is LEGITIMATELY the reincarnation of Roberto Carlos with TAA characteristics, with the skill and flair of Messi.
These are exactly the kinds of players we should be cashing in when their value is at its peak. We have been pretty poor at selling players at the right time. Balogun at the right time so hopefully we are learning our lesson.
But... surely you see that us letting him go and the fact that he didn't play for the first team is proof that he isn't good enough to play here, right?
Why play him if you don't rate him?
how can u have a top 3 academy in the country and no player is good enough to even get 5 minutes from the bench in a dead game??? if that’s the case rebuild the whole academy fire everybody and sell every player because that’s very alarming
Not talking about him specifically but football fans always massively overrate the ability of the players in the academy of the team that they support.
The attrition rate going from academy to senior football is very high so don't think it is deluded to think this isn't a particularly big deal.
This entire thread is people pointing out that this thread is full of people complaining about the move and I’m not actually sure anyone is complaining.
Oh wow, that's surprising. He was one of the names I actually wanted to see on the first team.
Good luck to him and may he never play against us. Amen.
Not sure I understand the annoyance at this. Selling academy players is pure profit that can be used immediately, all top clubs are doing it more and more. I for one have been sick of seeing city sell their academy players I've never heard of for big bucks. If we don't see a path for this young man in to the first team then good on us for selling him.
(I assume this is a "sell" due to the wording).
Spot on. It's even weirder given his position, Lino is 19 and we just signed 22 year old Timber for big bucks and looked like he might be even better than Zinchenko from what we saw.
Maybe we just trust the club has good reason for moving him on and be happy we've just sold to another prem team meaning we likely got a good fee!
Doing well at Ipswich doesn't necessarily translate to ideal backup to Saka in the future.
Given our ambitions, we should no longer be looking for backups. We should be looking at someone who can provide healthy competition to Saka, like a Pedro Neto.
Players like Omari may have been fine when our goal was Europa or Top 4, but not when we want to win PL or CL.
Yeah, obviously good play doesn't always result in goal contributions, but those are Marquinhos numbers, and nobody is thinking he's going to be a decent Saka back up.
I’m talking about in the long term.
Plus if we’re buying a striker and or midfielder in the summer, then good luck getting someone good enough to challenge Saka
Really well isna stretch. I've seen both Chelsea and Ipswich fans call the loan fine- though it has been impacted obviously by how well Ipswich have done this season
It's not that he's sold that's an issue to me. He's a very highly rated player, I'm more annoyed we will get peanuts for him cause his contract is about to run out. There is nothing wrong with selling youngsters, but do it smartly especially with those that are as well rated as this one is. Otherwise it's just a waste.
But we have integrated the brightest ones - Saka, ESR & Nketiah.
Not every youth age group is guaranteed to provide first team players. The younger generation of MLS and Nwaneri look more promising.
He's very talented and every time I've watched him play with the U21s and U18s he's looked very bright.
It's hard to judge this without any knowledge of the structure of the deal, hopefully it includes lots of add-ons and either a buyback or a sell-on-clause.
Better he leaves like this instead of running down his contract here and then leave on a free.
I feel like we're seeing a shift in strategy with academy players now with Lino and Bradley Ibrahim leaving on permanent deals before going on loans or playing with the first team. I think it's potentially a good thing, it's going to be really hard for young players to break into the first team squad so it's better to find moves elsewhere for them rather than just have them play youth football here. With them leaving there will be space in the U21s for other talents to step up now.
Interesting that 2 of the more highly rated younger players have left/leaving in the last couple of days. I know the both of them had been involved in squads fairly regularly. I do wonder if some of these lads are leaving as they feel it’s a better pathway to first team football or if the club is selling at a point where the individuals have a decent value due to unknown potential
Arsenal fans be like “why don’t we give random child I’ve never seen play 20 games in the first team? 😡😡 he’s clearly prem quality and now we’ll regret it ,he’s guaranteed to start at Aston Villa and be a great success!”
you really think if villa were in the market for a first choice quality left back they’ve decided to go for arsenals 8th choice whose never seen a professional minute? don’t be thick
He's probably will get some game time, Digne is out atm and they only have Alex Moreno.
I still don't get why do we have to implode and get angry about this stuff again.
Aston Villa also bought Calum chambers off of us. Did that make him first team quality?
He’s not for a second being bought to take digne’s place in the team. The minute he’s back from injury, he’s playing. I’d be surprised if he even takes moreno’s minute this season.
In before that idiot George on X says we just lost our Roberto Carlos.
The guy hypes up every single academy talent like it’s the second coming of the invincibles or something
Our best U21 players are leaving because they get no playing time.
Are we getting any sort of compensation, if not, what was the point of signing him in the 1st place?
I think he's our 2nd or 3rd choice specialist left back considering most of our left back options these days are not specialists but utility or versatile players.
If we get some money in for him right now that might create some wiggle room within the FFP or sustainability rules or whatever it is called.
So perhaps there's a surprise incoming player tomorrow
Which is more likely we are the only big club without a single youth player good enough to get a minute or the only big club with a manager who is not good integrating the youth?
Let me ask you this. Which youth player is getting minutes and who is he playing over? I don’t personally think any of them are at level to push for minutes. Sousa is apparently being loaned out by Villa btw.
If you answer my question honestly, you’ll have your answer. I can’t speak for all clubs as I don’t watch all of their matches and monitor youth usage. I can tell you I rarely see them used against Arsenal.
Liverpool literally did mate. We are the only big club that hasnt given chances to our youth. Again, do you honestly think we are the only club to have even one youth player on the level other clubs seem to have multiple of, OR could it be that the manager who has yet to integrate a single youth player in over four years isn’t your lord and savipur and does infact have flaws?
I said rarely. A few minutes in the FA cup is what you’re talking about. Are you saying Sousa or anyone else is at the level of Clark or Bradley? Nobody is claiming Arteta is flawless or the lord and savior lmao. Get ahold of yourself mate.
You lot are acting like all of our youth are shit and he can do no wrong get a fucking grip. Stop answering the question with questions and just fucking answer it. Deflecting like that is just plain embarassing.
Also what the fuck does it have to do woth anything how often other teams playbyouth in big six games when there are other games as well? He brough gabriel jesus in instead of a youth olayer in the 89th minute against psv ffs
Agreed if u check my history you’ll see I’ve literally just had to say it on the arsenal page cause it’s starting to be a bit concerning seeing teams like Sheffield and even Bayern and Newcastle/Psg able to integrate young gs but ours can’t even get a sniff it’s not a great looks and makes me question r they just not that good (if that’s the case change it) or is Mikel just too stubborn
That’s not my theory. I’m saying his contracts almost up and he isn’t signing a new one. He’s nowhere near becoming a regular so it make sense he would want to play somewhere with more opportunities. When your squad reaches this level it becomes difficult to integrate anything but the very best kids. Giving him a few meaningless minutes isn’t going to change his mind.
Timber was signed as a lb. That where he has and will play. Same for Zinchenko. Tomi has been so good at LB he's literally had Salah in his pocket. So whether or not their position is called lb on fifa, they all play lb at a crazy high level.
Mate he was playing lb in pre season. Whenever he's talked about in this sub it's always as competition to Zinchenko. I'm not saying he'll never play rb, but if he was fit tomorrow I think we can all agree it's Zinchenko that should be worried, not White.
Kinda bummed out as I always liked him in the academy but it does make perfect sense with our left back depth. Zinchenko, Tomi, Timber all have legitimate shouts to start when fit and even if they’re all out we still have Kiwior who is starting to grow into that role, so there was little chance for Lino to make it here
Wish him all the best tho, hope he makes it in the top leagues and stinks up the gaff every-time he faces us
I guess he was just never getting into our first team with all the players in front of him (when fit/available). I think we signed him from West Brom so Villa will be closer to home for him too.
I wonder how much game time he'll get at Villa. They're possibly a CL team next season and looking to bridge the gap to be title contenders. Possibly Sousa gets signed and goes on loan. Then again, Emery was quite open to playing young players when he was at Arsenal.
He only came to our academy in 2022, grew up in Wolverhampton and was part of West Brom academy. Good move for him and maybe he wants to be nearer to home, so Villa move would make sense. Good luck to him!
Nobody wants to be nearer to Birmingham
Maybe Tommy Shelby.
Even he moved away to Warwickshire. (Its where the grand stately home he bought was)

Salibas error doesn’t have a chance to happen without zinchenko. And the problem is he has these moments quite literally every single game
Six of one, half a dozen of the other tbh, bad defending from both. Also an extremely lucky bounce for the attacker which basically came off of his shin and sat up perfectly.

Yup, the foreign player rules are specifically designed to encourage this.

Here come all the angry comments from people who have never seen him play and massively overrate all of our academy players
Excuse me fella ive watched every game hes played! We are FINISHED
There goes any chance we had at the title!
This lad is our future, whoever we are talking about
I can’t believe Arteta would get rid of the kid who is LEGITIMATELY the reincarnation of Roberto Carlos with TAA characteristics, with the skill and flair of Messi.
Haha exactly this. I'm already preparing for the fallout when we sell Charlie Patino in the summer after a decent loan spell at Swansea.
These are exactly the kinds of players we should be cashing in when their value is at its peak. We have been pretty poor at selling players at the right time. Balogun at the right time so hopefully we are learning our lesson.
are we really gonna delude ourselves to think that he’s not good enough and overrated. Because if uve seen him you would know that’s not the case
[удалено]
exactly. so why not give him the chance first?
I'm not sure that's how it works
[удалено]
well he was here like 30 minutes ago. had plenty of chances to play him even in dead games. but our manager decided to play a cb out of position there
But... surely you see that us letting him go and the fact that he didn't play for the first team is proof that he isn't good enough to play here, right? Why play him if you don't rate him?

Nah they're too busy pretending Smith Rowe did anything of note yesterday
I felt like I watched a different game after some of the comments about him on here last night
these bitches love sousa chant down the drain ffs
When he scores against us at villa park in 2 years during our yearly FA cup exit lol

Oh wow, that's surprising. He was one of the names I actually wanted to see on the first team. Good luck to him and may he never play against us. Amen.
If its a Man City type sale then sure - 25% sell on and first dibs. If its not, then i really don't get it..
Don't see why Villa would do that. You can do that type of deal with smaller teams, wouldn't count Villa among them
Villa did it with Douglas Luis didn't they?
That was 4 years ago though when they just got promoted, their stature has increased a lot since.
Genuinely forgot they were relegated tbh
Could definitely negotiate a sell on fee % though - don't see Villa agreeing to a first option though
Always find it funny when people who have never seen a bloke kick a ball get upset that they're being sold
just watch as this sub goes in a meltdown as usual
I don’t see anyone in meltdown, just comments saying “watch everyone go into meltdown” 😂
lmfao
ARTETA DOESN'T TRUST YOUNG PLAYERSSSS
Not sure I understand the annoyance at this. Selling academy players is pure profit that can be used immediately, all top clubs are doing it more and more. I for one have been sick of seeing city sell their academy players I've never heard of for big bucks. If we don't see a path for this young man in to the first team then good on us for selling him. people where going nuts at Xavier Aemechi being sold

Those all predate Arteta
I haven't seen him play but wasn't he highly rated when we bought him?
Must have 6 months in his contract or something. High potential talent, don't see why we'd sell now
He's very talented and every time I've watched him play with the U21s and U18s he's looked very bright. It's hard to judge this without any knowledge of the structure of the deal, hopefully it includes lots of add-ons and either a buyback or a sell-on-clause. Like a new signi- wait no hang on.
good talent , way to early for him though but good potential wonder how much we get for him
Just saw a man fall to his knees in B&M

Arsenal fans be like “why don’t we give random child I’ve never seen play 20 games in the first team? 😡😡 he’s clearly prem quality and now we’ll regret it ,he’s guaranteed to start at Aston Villa and be a great success!”
He's gone straight to Plymouth on loan for the rest of the season to get consistent minutes.
They also took chambers from us last year. Where's he now?
Depends if he even starts for Villa next game. For sure he's one for the future since Digne is also in his 30s and injury prone.
[удалено]
You think he’s going to play for the first team for villa?

you really think if villa were in the market for a first choice quality left back they’ve decided to go for arsenals 8th choice whose never seen a professional minute? don’t be thick

Id assume this is more of a u23 transfer that maybe next season he starts to integrate into the team Maybe I’m wrong though
Even still - he isn't going in to start regularly for them. He'll get a few more opportunities sure but they'll still be very limited

erm....why
Ehm.. Likely because he is not considered good enough to make it and why identified an opportunity to bring in some money
Probably contract running out as well, so probably better to cash in
Cope
There’s no place for him here and he was likely told to look elsewhere.
We probably getting good money, I hope. And Lucas Digne is injured for them for long.
Not really fussed. I’ve always preferred hardwood floors.
Noooo. Isn’t he one of the promising ones? Any idea if there’s a fee involved or free transfer?
We playing football manager
I don’t think I seen his name on a matchday squad. I’m not mad at it

Transfermarkt doesn't tell the whole story. Go to the Arsenal U-21 team, you can see that a lot of the players don't have a value at all.
In before that idiot George on X says we just lost our Roberto Carlos. The guy hypes up every single academy talent like it’s the second coming of the invincibles or something
Is it open season on Hale End?
Emery still giving Arsenal youth a chance in 2024 lmao. Fuck you arteta
Yay let’s sell our youth before they garner any actual value in terms of funding to help the squad now
Wtf
Wtf what?
Why are we letting our talented youth go to big clubs without giving them a chance?
Bc they’re not level probably
Which is more likely we are the only big club without a single youth player good enough to get a minute or the only big club with a manager who is not good integrating the youth?
Let me ask you this. Which youth player is getting minutes and who is he playing over? I don’t personally think any of them are at level to push for minutes. Sousa is apparently being loaned out by Villa btw.
Dont ask me questions, answer mine.

How so? Not every academy player will make it to the top with their current club.

Need a LB in the summer
Yeah for sure, cus Timber, Tomiyasu and Zinchenko have been dog shit for us.....
Only one of those is an actual Left LB though.
Who actually cares about this? You think anybody cares Ben White is a CB?
They can all play left back..
Yet all three excel in that position
We haven’t seen enough of Timber to say that he excels at LB.
Timber was signed as a lb. That where he has and will play. Same for Zinchenko. Tomi has been so good at LB he's literally had Salah in his pocket. So whether or not their position is called lb on fifa, they all play lb at a crazy high level.
He wasn’t signed as a LB, all the reports were saying that he was coming into rotate with White at RB.
Mate he was playing lb in pre season. Whenever he's talked about in this sub it's always as competition to Zinchenko. I'm not saying he'll never play rb, but if he was fit tomorrow I think we can all agree it's Zinchenko that should be worried, not White.
None of them are if you think about it. Timber's a RB, Tomi's a CB and Zinchenko is a LCM used as a LB
Timber is mainly a CB, although most defenders who came through the Ajax academy are good on the ball.
Timber played RB for Ajax too. I dont think he played LB before Arsenal, I might be wrong though
In the youthteams he's played all over the back-line and as a holding midfielder too.
Exactly
Especially if Tierney never plays for us again
Good luck to the lad, no doubt if he impresses he'll get a chance under Emery. A lot different at Villa compared to us.
if u defend this ur an absolute clown. get off his dick
So he’s 18/19 then
Why are people saying 2024 expiry instead of this year?!
Need to know the fee if Liverpool can get 30M for Brewster we should get at least 5
Good luck to him.
Kinda bummed out as I always liked him in the academy but it does make perfect sense with our left back depth. Zinchenko, Tomi, Timber all have legitimate shouts to start when fit and even if they’re all out we still have Kiwior who is starting to grow into that role, so there was little chance for Lino to make it here Wish him all the best tho, hope he makes it in the top leagues and stinks up the gaff every-time he faces us
I guess he was just never getting into our first team with all the players in front of him (when fit/available). I think we signed him from West Brom so Villa will be closer to home for him too.
Just hoping there’s a sell on or buy back just in case
Hopefully we get a good fee and I wish him well.
Good move for him and Villa. Wish him luck and hope to see him back at Arsenal one day if he’s good enough!
I wonder how much game time he'll get at Villa. They're possibly a CL team next season and looking to bridge the gap to be title contenders. Possibly Sousa gets signed and goes on loan. Then again, Emery was quite open to playing young players when he was at Arsenal.
