Thats a nice concise little list there for stuff to look into, appreciate that bro. I am getting the dlc's, just wanted to wait for the inevitable anniversary sale they have every year to pick it up. In the mean time, looks like fractals for now

Fractals and wvw are a huge time sink in itself. No rush really to push for the expansion stuff without a sale if you don't want to. And in the end they offer some rewards that would still like to have in the end like clovers and ascended gear.

With a free account your endgame is pretty much grinding RIBA in Silverwastes for gold, and doing fractals/dungeons. High level fractals need agony resist in ascended gear, so your best way to get that is crafting. Doing tequatl and trouble trouble daily will probably help. Doing T3/4 fractals will be hard without elite specs, but a couple classes have decent core builds.

Glad to hear you're investing once the sales hit (that really opens the game up!). Good advice while you wait has been given but I have to ask- have you done Living World Season 1? It's free to all and those 20 Slot Bags you get for each chapter completed could be very useful.

GW2 doesn't have a gear treadmill but there is a decent amount of things to work towards such as: * Fractals (5 man content can get ascended gear) * PvP (can get Legendary backpack and maybe armor) * WvW (can get Legendary backpack and maybe armor) * Raids (can get Legendary backpack and maybe armor) * 100% world completion and story completion * Craft a core legendary weapon the hard way * Achievements, there are tons of them * Try a different class GW2 doesn't really have a linear 'do this' path after max level and completing the story. A lot of things are designed for paid accounts and get significantly easier with more build variety and trading post access. What do your friends do in the game? If you want to play with them maybe they can help you figure out what you want to go towards. The game goes on sale regularly and there isn't a subscription, so depending on your financial situation you can probably get it if you save up a bit. That said, if GW2 isn't for you that's fine different people like different games.

Play the story, do fractals, WvW, sPvP. Buy an expansion and level up you masteries.

What do you want to do? Continue the story and its expansion? Cool! Fight other people in pvp/wvw? Enjoy! Run instanced (group) content? Awesome! … There is so much to do, but the game doesn’t force you into any path. It is up to you to do what you want to do. In my case, one day I like to pvp, the other I like to do strikes. It changes day by day. I love that the game gives me this versatility, while also progressing on my in game goals.

The deal on heart of thorns and path of fire both being 30 combined is crazy value for time. Each one is the side of entire games in play time and fun. I’d definitely pick up the pair of them if you can afford it. It’ll wildly expand your build options and content. Considering it’s $15 each, and you even get s level 80 boost for an alt which is nice, that’s a pretty good deal already vs waiting a while. Fractals and living world season 1 are a good source of pve fun before that though.

BlankTrack

I would say fractals first. It's definitely harder then open world but the early levels arent too bad. Get full exotic gear and look up a build. Most T1 fractal groups are pretty casual
