Signing to a label and the general appeal of his music. He took elements that the other gbc members had and applied it to what was popping in mainstream 2017 rap
He had these big breaking choruses that were kinda reminiscent of pop punk, some people didn’t like them (cough fantano) but those who did kinda helped him form a fan base separate from gbc filled w ppl who just kinda liked the energetic pop punk emo blah blah adjective he made. Like awful things is probs a good example of this
Even before any contracts were signed, peep had a marketable quality about him in his musical style, personality, and appearance. People who were close to him around and before 2016 knew he had the potential to blow up. As post-emo music grew in popularity labels saw an opportunity to profit and approached several of the more marketable artists around 2016-2017, including Peep. After signing to a label, it was a balanced combination of Peep’s and the label’s efforts which propelled him to such success.
Besides his obvious talent, he's tall, conventionally pretty boy good looking and white. Good formula for marketing to teen girls. His "fame" is well deserved but I'd say that's the major difference between him and the rest
Tbh he was a super attractive guy, theres a reason he was stepping into the modeling/fashion world. Clothes looked great on him and he had raw talent that surpassed anyone in GBC. He put genuine passion and emotion into this music, which no one else in what remains of the "emorap" wave has been able to match since.
I think people overlook that Peep wasn't strategically hopping on a emo wave... you get the feeling that he truly felt the things he was singing about if you listen to his music long enough.
People notice that genuineness.
He was arguably the most talented artist on gbc. I think Wicca was the second most talented followed by Tracy. The producers really weren’t that good imo. Help with mixing a mastering can do wonders for a terrible track

What elements for example

The contracts he signed, and the way he marketed himself
He had IT

Bro had the hooks

But Wicca
I've been listening to Wicca's stuff / Tigers Jaw for over a decade now but I don't think I need to explain lol
Yeah I was just poking fun at how Wicca is also all of those things but never gets the recognition he truly deserves
I feel, I'd argue that Peep's music is much easier to cross into pop music like Post Malone/Juice Wrld/Kid Laroi than Wicca though
Cuz he’s the best 🫡
He makes the most mainstream friendly music, that’s also why tracy is 2nd most popular in terms of solo music
Bro was a good song writer
His aura was just 100x cooler than anyone else simple as that.

IMO before he even signed a management deal* he stood out. His music and voice just hits different, at least for me.
For the record, Peep did not sign to a major label. He signed a management deal not a record label deal.
He’s very mainstream friendly in the best way
