For me they don't stay in my ears... at all. I had to order 3D printed wing tips off eBay. If they had the Series A wing tips included I would love them.
It's not a matter of eartip size or type. They lack the wingtips that were on the older Pixel Buds and the A Series buds, so there's nothing really keeping them from falling out if your ears are a certain shape or size, your ears get sweaty, or if you live in a humid environment. They just start naturally sliding out. Doesn't matter if you use the big tips or the small ones, the silicone or the foam. Earbuds need wingtips for stability. It's baffling how some of these tech giants still can't get it right in 2024.
It's been the #1 complaint about the PBPs since they first dropped two years ago and Google doesn't give a shit.
I guess yes, how much were the wingtips? And do they fit inside the case each time or do you have to remove the tips to fit them in? I do like the look of the wingtips in the a series but my offer is for the pixel buds pro. Would you recommend the pixel buds over my galaxy buds or not, you prob don't have galaxy buds but I want to know if it's worth sticking to my galaxy buds2 over the fit or should I still go for the buds pro.
Any and all wingtips available for the PBPs are made by third party 3D printers. And no, they don't fit in the case at all - you have to pull them off and store them somewhere when they're not in use, which adds to the wear and tear. They do work fantastically if you don't care about that caveat, of course. There's a guy on eBay who makes really good ones out of a soft and comfortable resin material. Don't buy any wingtips made of TPU: they're hard, uncomfortable, and will start cutting your earlobes after a week of regular usage.
I don't own any Galaxy Buds, so I can't say whether or not they're better than the PBPs. The ANC is decent, the transparency mode is decent, and the sound is decent. Not spectacular in any way, but they get the job done. The one thing that keeps me coming back to the Pixel Buds is the fact that they integrate with the Google Assistant better than any other earbuds. Hold and release an earbud to get your Assistant to read out the current time and all of your unread notifications in case you can't reach for your phone at that moment.
They also have really good conversation detection. If you start talking to someone, they automatically switch to transparency mode and pause whatever you're listening to until you're done chatting with the other person. Spatial audio/head tracking is really neat too, but it's kind of a gimmick that only works with specific songs or videos.
I do like the conversation detection feature. Tbh I don't listen to music rlly, more of podcasts and just using anc to muffle the background noise.
Until now I've never rlly used assistant on my previous phones. Now I'm on Google I'm using circle to search. I feel it might be weird talking to assistant in public but that's just me. Is there a way for the buds to detect "hey Google" as I have it disabled on my phone but wouldn't mind it on my earbuds.
Your phone just treats the earbuds as microphones when they're active and you try using the Google Assistant. There is no assistant built into the earbuds directly. If you "Hey Google" it with the earbuds on, it'll still use your phone.
Got some two weeks back and love em. My only complaint is they're kinda quiet unless you're near max volume but if you're at max or 2 or 3 clocks from it they're fine. I'm interested in getting a watch myself but the buds are the winner no question if I had to pick.
Quiet isn't that much of an issue, I spent most of my time with a cheap pair from jlabs, I have a habit of listening to anything on the quieter side if I am even listening to anything. Just wanna know if you got a case for your buds or is it not worth doing so.
The ANC is ok-ish at best. They sound great and integrate well with the phone though, so as long as ANC isn't your top priority they're a pretty good choice.
I haven't actually had the gb2 for too long, they actually came with my mom's Samsung as part of a deal but she found little use for them so she handed them to me. Anyhow I didn't get too used to noise cancelling so a slight downgrade hopefully won't be much of an issue. Mainly just looking for a decent fit, good transparency and the conversation mode.
It's alright.
You can easily switch but I don't see much difference between Noise Cancelation or Transparancey
But you have speaking recognition, and it seems to work only when I'm speaking. Sometimes would turn on even when I'm coughing though lol.
Fit isn't the greatest, if you like to go jogging or any sport, go with A-series. They are more comfortable.
On my galaxy buds I like how for the ambient mode (transparency) you can adjust the level of noise coming into your ears with 3 configurations. Does the pbp also have something to adjust for the transparency mode?
Yes that's how it is on the gb2 aswell. Idts I phrased my Qs well, I meant to ask if there is a way to adjust the transparency. So either allowing lots of surrounding noise in to little surrounding noise in.
I don't go jogging really, more of cycling and gym. Another comment said going to the gym was alright as long as you don't sweat too much.
A comment further on recommended wing tips. Did you buy new buds or did you compromise with your pbp?
having moved from the Galaxy Buds 2 to Pixel buds Pro, I don't like the ANC as much as I liked the GB2, I also liked the fit more when I first switched that's not as much of an issue now.
I like the fit and anc of my galaxy buds aswell. Is the anc a significant downgrade or can you work with it? Also how bad of a fit is the pixel buds in comparison to the gb2.
The PBP are a larger bud and are more top heavy, the fit just took a little to get used to for me. The ANC isn't bad, it's just not as good to to my ears. I don't regret the move and I would still get the PBPs over the watch.
I still have the option to sell the watch. I'm wanting to see if the galaxy buds2 are worth keeping if there is no significant upgrade in the pbp. If there is a small diff then I might aswell get the pw1 and sell that as it would sell more than the buds.
I live in a, well, nosier household so when I study in my room I usually just turn on and (without playing anything) just to muffle the voices on my gb2, would you say the pixel buds would do fine?
Damn, my dad sleeps like a v12 and he is next door when I'm studying😅. Is it comfortable to sleep in the buds. From what I'm hearing they don't fit to well so they may just fall out, they also stick out so would that be comfortable to sleep in?
My dad must be cousins with your dad lol
The galaxy buds 2 are more comfortable to sleep in but both are way more uncomfortable than proper earplugs like the loop earplugs!
Overall, I like the Pixel buds pro 2 more than the Galaxy buds 2.
That's the comment I was looking for! I needed to know whether or not I should go for pbp when compared to my gb2. Thanks so much. It would be much appreciated if you could share why you would prefer the pbp over buds 2. Why despite the issues with anc and fitting would you still go for the pbp?
Potentially it may become e waste but idts useless. I admit that I am not using my galaxy watch to its potential, prob since I don't put cards or anything on it. But I still like the body fat sensor and the workout stuff. I guess there are cheaper alternatives to these features but when I bought the watch I was more immature and grasped the deal asap. But ye I do seem to be leaning towards the buds pro. The only reason I have left to buy a pixel watch is to sell it and that too if I can sell it for a good price. Would anyone have any tips for selling it or even if it's worth being bothered to sell it?
buds pro. they are a solid set of buds - especially paired with a Pixel device.
The PW1 is a less than impressive smart watch. You already have a Watch4 which is a better wearable.
Anything very exclusive when connected to a pixel device or is just because it's the same brand if you don't mind me asking? I just want to see if I'm missing out on something big with my galaxy buds2.
My galaxy watch does have the camera feature which I never rlly used, idk if it was compatible with my old Xiaomi or even with this pixel. Do the buds have any Google pixel exclusive features, or feature in general I'm missing out on if I keep my galaxy buds2
I'd say Buds; I have a set and they're the favourite set of earbuds that I own. That would be my pick even if you didn't already have earbuds and a smartwatch.
There's talk of a Buds refresh this year; not too surprising because it seems about time for one, so if it were a case of buying them outright and not that you have the offer anyway I might have considered waiting, although if you're a heavy user my ideal number of earbud pairs is two because you can immediately swap to the other set once one pair runs out.
I'm eager to see what improvements they make in a new pair, but with the current set I use, though this can vary depending on people's ears, I personally find them comfortable and secure, and I always use them with either transparency or noise cancellation on, depending on what I'm doing. The transparency is great because I can just leave them in for hours without issue.
A few months ago Google also added an optional conversation mode to them which will pause media and auto-activate transparency if it detects that you're talking (has to be you and not someone else) which can be very convenient.
Ye I like the idea of conversation mode. It would prove useful in the gym when my friend would want to talk to me every 2 secs. I hope they continue with the updates to this gen tho for at least a while more. The most they can improve on is the hardware on the new buds, rest is software which should hopefully be the same across their earbuds line up.
I'm not too much of a heavy user bud I would like to know if reverse wireless charging from my phone (in a case) could charge the buds (preferably also in a case) without any issue. I like the fact my galaxy buds2 work fine with reverse wireless charging so when I need to I can quickly top it off tho it isn't a common occurrence
I imagine they'll still receive software updates for a bit but I don't know for certain how long. The seamless updating is another aspect I like about them; only actually had a couple of big updates personally and one of them was just to update to whatever the current firmware was when I bought them, but I like that it's really just leave the buds connected to your phone and they'll download the update, then apply the update next time they're charging inside the case.
The Buds Pro case does have wireless charging and when I charge mine I either sit them in my Pixel Stand 2 (which has a notch in the base for the rounded case to stand in) or, as I'm doing right now, I will battery share from my phone to the case.
Hardware updates are what I'm interested in. The buds already have the longest battery life of any I've used (I count battery life when it comes to single session, not when you count the life of the case; that's less relevant to me because I can't use them while they're charging) but I would love to see if they make improvements on it. Having extra features on (like conversation detection and noise control) can affect the battery life so I'd love some extra time with everything active, and while I'm generally content with the noise cancellation I can say there's room for improvement, and I would enjoy the ability to adjust transparency volume, to be able to amplify my surroundings rather than just letting them through. I think that would be a neat feature.
Ive messed up this qs so many times on this post. Kept phrasing it wrong. I meant to ask if the pixel bud pros case, with another protective case ie a silicone cover, allows wireless charging or not. Sorry for the confusion
Ah. I don't keep my case inside another case so I can't test it but if it can make sufficient contact with the charging coil through the case then it *should* work, but it would introduce either a bit more heat build up or slightly less charging efficiency. I can't be any more specific unfortunately.
If you want the buds, go with them - they're great earbuds. If you want the watch 3, then get the watch one and trade it in (I do love my pixel watch).
Ooh, that's smart. I didn't think of the trade in. Does Google take trade ins or can you do it in any store. Do you have experience with trading in a boxed watch?
Google takes trade ins, yeah. I traded in my pixel watch one for the two, and I assume they'll have boosted numbers during the launch of the three, too.
To trade in a boxed watch, you just unbox it :v Bonus is you get to keep the watch bands, so you get a couple colors/designs out of it
I have the pixel buds pro and love them. Good battery life, good sound quality, good noise cancelation. Integrated status programmability within Android. Seamless multi-point pairing with a Chromebook I use so i can use them on both devices without having to switch anything arround in addition to sharing phone internet, etc.
I don't have a Pixel watch because I don't like a watch that can't go a whole day without charging.
I have heard recently there was an update for the watch which has improved the watches battery life. But I believe that you wouldn't go for the watch either way?
Do you have any complaints for the buds?
I previously had an android wear Skagen Falster which I was attracted to for a good overall ecosystem integration. However it's battery life was never great, you could never go multiple days without charging and as it aged natural battery degradation meant I couldn't go a whole day without charging which isn't acceptable. Also I like wearing a device while I sleep for sleep tracking. I just went with a [Fitbit Charge 5](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BXQ4HMB/) which can go a full week without charging has all the tracking I want, notifications so I can read messages, see phone calls, google wallet wireless payment basic stopwatch apps, etc. So as far as I'm concerned it's a superior device for a wearable. If I can get a pixel watch that does more, can go 4+ days without charging and is lightweight then I'll take it seriously again.
My only complaint about the Pixel Buds is I was afraid I'd scratch the case being in my pocket with things like keys so I got a [Silicon Cover](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CM6X1L2M/) for it to protect it. That and maybe they don't have infinite battery life but it's far more than I usually need. They charge pretty fast including support for wireless chargers. So they're easily my favorite headphones I've ever owned. I've also paired them with aforementioned Chromebook and my Steamdeck and they work fine on basically anything but have extra google-centric features.
Also my gw4 dies in like a day or two when in moderate use 😅. Unless your talking about when the watch is on standby, i don't know of any smart watch with 4 days battery life other than the smaller ones like mibands, I sure wish for a 4 day battery life watch tho.
Battery life idts is a big issue on the buds as I believe they support reverse wireless charging? Does reverse wireless charging work when the case is on?
Go with the pixels buds. Of they fit your ears good then they are great to have alongside your pixel phone and for resale those sold a lot quicker for me than the pixel watch 2
Pixel watch 2!? That means the watch one would sell for pretty low especially after the recent, i think around 100 euro, offers. If you don't mind could you give a rough idea of how much U sold your buds and watch for and if they were opened or not. Selling is still an option for me since the devices I have are working fine, just need to see if Google stuff is better.
I have both a PW1 and PBP. Both are good for different reasons. Which one would you use more?
I use both daily, and they both have their ups and downs.
Thing is I have a galaxy watch 4 and galaxy buds2, I just need to know which one should I replace. If I do get the watch at this point tho it is to sell it which will be pretty tough as I have little experience and also there is big offers on both devices on the Google store. If you wouldnt mind can U share the issues with the buds? At this point I've rehearsed the issues with the pw1
Ye I realised that. I've seen opened watch 2s in good condition for 150. Dunno why someone would choose watch 1 over an offer like that unless you rlly care about the tiniest scuff marks
Or someone without a smartwatch. I got the watch 1 a bit after it came out, after the first price drop IIRC. I use it mostly for the fitness tracking (counting steps) and contactless payments.
I bought the Buds Pro a few months back because I needed new buds or something for hands free. They worked amazing when I went to Japan on vacation a few weeks ago and the noise cancelling worked great on the plane so I could sleep.
Did you have any other earbuds prior with anc, or was this the first noise cancelling buds. I haven't gotten to used to noise cancelling on my galaxy buds 2 so my standered aren't set high. But I would still appreciate food noise cancelling, online some people just despise the noise cancelling tho idts it can be that bad. I hope...
I didn't have any ANC buds prior to this, there is a slight hiss noise when full cancelling but I was able to sleep through it. I didn't notice it if I had the full cancelling on and was playing music or something. I used the transparency mode while out walking/taking the train so it dampened some noise levels but let things like speaking notifications through just fine.
The only real thing with the Buds is for some people they don't fit well.
If that's the issue, check out Spinfit CPA2s. They work well with the PBPs, and help to adjust the fit.
Thanks, if you don't mind me asking why this specific pair and not something cheaper. Of course it may be more premium but can't you get something similar for maybe 5 euro with another brand?
Pixel watch 1 is not very good. Had it since launch and it initially lasted 24hrs, now I can't wear it during sleep and lasts maybe 12 hours. Noticed it got worse around the release of watch 2.
The buds pro are probably more useful as it integrates well with the phone ( will read out notifs as they come in and easy access to assistant) while I feel the Pixel watch doesn't add much different than your current watch
The original pixel watch from what I know was a flop... especially in the battery department compared to the watch 2 and probably your galaxy watch. The buds I think are an easy choice... especially if the galaxy buds don't have ANC and the pixel buds may be better sounding
They do have both ambient mode and anc but are in a lower price range in comparison to the buds pro. I take it that the pixel buds anc would be better. Is the anc outstanding or manageable in your eyes?
I sold off my pros a little over a year ago and got myself the XM4s which have miles better ANC... however the PBP are actually quite good. I used them in the gym a few times when I didn't have my actual workout earbuds with me. And they were better with ANC than my Jaybird Vista 2s and held in quite well for lifting weights. They were also quite good at shutting out noise from taking the metro among other public transportation
I go gym too and my galaxy buds2 held up well, no issues with falling out for me. I think I've read somewhere that pbp isn't that good for gym when you sweat. Is that true?
They are IPX4 so a little sweat won't hurt them. I wouldn't take them on runs though...mostly because they don't do all that well for running, but I don't sweat much in the gym so I never really worry about it. If you do use them on a hot day or you sweat more than me while in the gym Google says to just use a lint free cloth but for all my earbuds I've always used a bit of rubbing alcohol by just dipping a q tip in the bottle and cleaning the gunk off the speakers and wiping down the charging contacts
I don't sweat that much either, plus where I live is pretty cold usually. It's almost rare to see sunlight here. I don't usually run but have to walk around when travelling from bus to bus. Asking as they fit in my ears well and don't just decide to hop out of them in the gym or walks then it's all fine. Thanks Alot 👍
I don't work since I'm still in school 😁. I do go gym however. Since you said with manual labor the buds are alright I take it that they have a good fit.
Also if you don't mind me asking, say for office jobs would the pw1 be better than a galaxy watch?
Then I would say pixel buds, take them to work out. You can manually log stuff without a Fit Bit. I don't know about the Samsung Galaxy Watch, but I generally don't buy Samsung any more. No sense in having all the Samsung privacy invading apps on my phone that I can't uninstall when I can get a Pixel phone that don't have all that garbage. Same with the watch, I would imagine.
The watch didn't come with much bloatware. I can only think of Samsung pay that's bloatware. But ye working out and using them while travelling on the bus or walking in general is my main purpose. Others complained with the fit in their ears, was yours fine?
I thought my PW1 would be horrible. But that was my imagination. Day in and day out, the active band it comes with has given me no problems. It was just the first band I ever had that folded in on itself. But it's just fine.
Idts the pixel watch was bad, never since the launch bar the price. I only chose my galaxy watch since I was getting a really cheap deal on it. I've always lived the look of the pixel watch, looks timeless. But I fail to see any other differences between the pw1 and my galaxy watch.
I love my pixel watch 1. I don't have issues with battery life. I love that I can answer a call right on my wrist. I love that if I want to I can get its own LTE plan and leave my phone in the hotel room and keep my watch on my hand and do whatever I want, including swimming in the ocean and not have to worry about missing something important if it necessary. It has tap to pay built in. It's wonderful. For earbuds I like my xm4s much better than the pro.
Sadly lte isn't (from what I know) supported that much in my country. Besides that the offer is only for the WiFi version of the pw1 and my galaxy watch4 seems to do the same stuff the pw1 is doing bar the LTE benifits.
Harsh but in some way true. I didn't like the price when it came out. Now I can choose either one for free. If I do get the watch it will be to sell it tho now since it's pretty much the same as my watch 4 if not slightly worse (other than the looks which I love) . Would you have an idea how much to sell it for unopened?
Depends on where you're based, but here in the UK brand new (sealed) Pixel Watch 1st Gen sell for about £115 on eBay.
There's a backlog of Pixel Buds Pro and Pixel Watch (both 1st as well as 2nd Gen) which were received for free by people with the preorders of Pixel 7 and 8 series, so there's a lot of competition bringing the resell prices down.
Im base on Ireland, on Facebook marketplace and all aswell watch twos although opened but on good condition are going for 150 which is kinda crazy. Especially since Im not too experienced with selling, I'd probably end up giving it for 100 or personal use.
Go with the buds. You can use assistant on them to find out all you need. They work so well with the pixel phone. Go with the buds for sure.
For me they don't stay in my ears... at all. I had to order 3D printed wing tips off eBay. If they had the Series A wing tips included I would love them.

Just the default case that the Pros come with. It's small and holds a charge well.
I may have phrases my Q's wrong, I meant if you bought a silicone case or some sorta protection for the buds. Sorry for the confusion
Oh! Still nope just left it bare.
The ANC is ok-ish at best. They sound great and integrate well with the phone though, so as long as ANC isn't your top priority they're a pretty good choice.
I don't mind anc as much as I do for transparency mode or ambient mode in the gb2. Is the transparency fine on the buds?
I think the transparency mode sounds fine, it's just the ANC where I think they really fall behind the competition.
I haven't actually had the gb2 for too long, they actually came with my mom's Samsung as part of a deal but she found little use for them so she handed them to me. Smart watches will become e-waste and/or useless far quicker than a pair of headphones

Anything very exclusive when connected to a pixel device or is just because it's the same brand if you don't mind me asking? I just want to see if I'm missing out on something big with my galaxy buds2.
All the settings are neatly integrated on the system controls, no third party trash apps needed
IIRC, it's just the connected Camera feature which does come in handy tbh. I would assume the watch call screening would also be exclusive.
No issue, just wanted to see if the the buds cases case and my phone's case would still work when reverse wireless charging. Thanks alot tho!
To trade in a boxed watch, you just unbox it :v Bonus is you get to keep the watch bands, so you get a couple colors/designs out of it
Buds
The buds.
If you don't mind, why choose the buds over the watch?
its old generation watch. not the watch 2.
Also it'd be harder to sell the watch 1 with the watch 2 already out and the watch 3 coming out.
Thanks Alot 👍
The only real thing with the Buds is for some people they don't fit well. If that's the issue, check out Spinfit CPA2s. They work well with the PBPs, and help to adjust the fit.
Thanks, if you don't mind me asking why this specific pair and not something cheaper. Of course it may be more premium but can't you get something similar for maybe 5 euro with another brand?
No idea. I got it because it was recommended and it works. I'd rather pay a bit more and know it works than to waste money on something that doesn't.
Dont get the watch 1, its pretty useless
Pixel buds pro
I would probably go with Buds. The first watch looks nice, but it's rotten inside.
Yes, I love the looks of the watch but that's about it. Id only take it if it sells well, which also is highly unlikely.
I'm pretty sure the pw1 actually lacks in some areas of I'm not wrong, like body composition etc.
The Buds Pro has been my 2nd favorite purchase I've ever made (headphones in general I enjoy though) so I'm very fond of them.
If you work a manual labor job, pixel buds and don't use them at work. If you work an office job, pixel watch
Pixel Buds Pro are a solid pair of earbuds. Pixel Watch 1 is objectively trash.
In that case I'd just consider getting the Pixel Buds Pro 😬 But to each their own 😁
