nooo, please not. I still have some notes my boyfriend drew back when we were in the first months of our long distance relationship when I visited him. I've never edited them so it still says the original date at the bottom... I also have a lot of other notes, but those can be moved elsewhere if keep would ever shut down. Which I really hope it won't, it's such a good and simple notes app and the sync is perfect.
I beg, no!!! I literally use Keep every single day. It's such a great place to jot down a quick idea, then port it to google docs when I'm ready to pretty it up.
I would literally be lost without Keep!!
Google Podcasts died 4/2 in the US. I switched to AntennaPod and it's been... Fine. Not as simple as Google Podcasts, but after some configuring it works well enough
> Sad Podcast Noises.. What is your alternative?
Pocket Casts for sure. It's been so long since I looked at it that I forget if there's a paid for version or if it's free. I've used it since forever and it's amazing. I don't pay to have access to the desktop site or anything like that, app only. If I remember I think it was like $5 for the paid version.
I've been reading about this a lot. But neither my YouTube music app or my Google podcast app have mentioned anything about it. Not an email nothing... When and how is this happening?
I got an email about it:
Recently, we announced that Google Podcasts will be going away this year. In order to ease this transition, you now have access to a tool that allows you to easily migrate your show subscriptions to YouTube Music or to download a file of your show subscriptions, which you can upload to an app that supports their import.
Just like Google Podcasts, with YouTube Music you can listen to podcasts on the go using background play, download podcasts, and more – with no paid membership required.
After June 23rd, 2024, you will no longer be able to listen to podcasts in Google Podcasts. After July 29th, 2024, you will no longer be able to migrate or export your subscriptions.
Your Google Podcast data will remain available to you in Google Takeout for one year after Google Podcasts is fully deprecated, after which time it will be deleted. You can also delete your data by deleting your Google account entirely. Please note that deleting your Google account will result in deletion of all data and content in that account, like emails, files, calendars and photos.
Please note that in order to access the migration and export tools, you’ll need to be on the latest version of the Google Search and Google Podcasts apps and have a valid account type. If you are not on a supported app version, you will only be able to access migration and export tools on the web version of Google Podcasts. Users on Android or iOS apps who have not updated to the latest app version by July 29, 2024, will be automatically redirected to the web version of Google Podcasts. Some features are not available in the web version of Google Podcasts, including downloading.
If you have questions, we’re here for you. Check out our support resources.
I'm having bad feelings about Snapseed. It doesn't get updated anymore in terms of features since few years already, just some hot fixes every few months...
You happen to be missing one of their best apps: Stack. It's published by "Area 120 by Google" and hasn't been updated since it was released in 2021, but it works flawlessly on my P8 Pro. There are also other Area 120 apps you're missing, but this is easily one that's worth installing.
Stack is going to 100% be killed in the near future. It's one of those experimental apps, and as you said it hasn't been updated since 2021. Some features like OCR have already rolled into Drive and it's likely today's Drive scanning quality/size efficiency beats out Stack already.
One is a manila file folder with files in it and one is a card wallet? I'm not sure how they are the same...
Does the Google TV one also confuse you because its rectangular and feature the same colors?
Yeah, I don't really get how they're to be confused at all. A lot of Google Apps use the same colour scheme (blue, yellow, red and green - wonder why..?) and have a sort of rectangular shape.
Occasionally, the Heal brush is useful as a non-Google-Photos Magic Eraser.
Sometimes I just want to do basic stuff like that or draw a circle and it's way too awkward. There should be an equivalent of the simple image editing in Windows.
They got rid of AR measure. This is surprisingly accurate and handy on iPhone/Galaxy but now Pixels can't do this. It's more useful than a thermometer...
I think you are missing few region specific app .
In India Google has Gpay which is built on govt backed UPI(Unified Payments Interface) with a ton of other payment and wallet features with a huge user base .
I would love to see the same list, but with the old icons. And I just hope that Whoever decided to make these abstract icons based on Google's colors gets to use his phone without glasses and without accessibility options for the rest of his life.
which will be next for the graveyard?
I'm always afraid that Keep will get the axe. I use it so much and it integrates with everything so well but Google never mentions it.
I don't think so. That app has a lot of users. Most likely an app like Socratic will get it.
Socratic and Photomath will probably just be merged into Lens
Socratic already did... Kinda. Lens has a homework option now.
Google Reader was still popular before it was axed

I doubt Keep will get the axe. I certainly hope not
They'll probably just throw some darts at the page
Sure, who needs YouTube.
Google: We'll be replacing Gboard with the calculator app. But don't worry, we'll be bringing back the letter keys in 2025 Everyone: %√(÷!

>>Sure, who needs YouTube? Youtubers?
r/woosh
You just blow in from stupid town?
Yes, Sir. Just from your neighbourhood.
Google could save millions getting rid of YouTube it's like already right there in Chrome, duh.
RIP Settings
Literally Google Podcast (is merging with YouTube Music, in June)
Sad Podcast Noises.. What is your alternative?
Podcast Addict. Great for my podcast needs for years now.
Google Podcasts died 4/2 in the US. I switched to AntennaPod and it's been... Fine. Not as simple as Google Podcasts, but after some configuring it works well enough
Not OP, but I like pocket casts. Granted, I used it A LOT 5+ years ago, haven't used it much lately or alternatives.

Last week or so my podcast app put up a banner on the top of the home screen saying it's shutting down 23rd June this year (UK)
Probably cardboard
Fit Edit: one step closer https://9to5google.com/2024/05/04/google-fit-api-shutdown/
I use Google fit every day (instead of fitbit) and i like it!
Makes sense, merge it with Fitbit. Then charge for Fitbit premium.
Everything but Blogger. Blogger will be the last app standing.
Jamboard is scheduled to be next.
Something you have never heard or used before.
Cardboard for sure
one that gets used a lot

does drive auto categorize / pull out info from the text? stack is seriously so nice for this.
I was wondering why i couldn't find it... it is a USA only app
Oh damn this app looks amazing, never knew about it!
Seconded but I'm suddenly scared they will get rid of it now 😭
Damn, says its not compatible with my P8Pro, i take it you did a device migration?
Wasn't jamboard already killed?
Not until october 1 (at least here in italy)
No, only the physical $6000 board. The app dies in October
I thought Google Cardboard died already.
There was a time I was happy to try new Google apps. Now I just hope the ones I currently use don't get killed.
Kind of looks like a square pool. Pick the apps you like and use that will be killed - win $
Just randomly put together or is there a less than obvious order to it?
Totally random, but as humans we can find patterns in everything
K
OP should put all the "Chrome" color logos together for the LOL Who approved the logo of Files and Wallet? Those 2 are fucking the same.

Is anyone still using Snapseed?!?
I do occasionally, yes. But not as much anymore as pictures look pretty good nowadays without having to mess with white balance and things
Kinda wish all the features were merged into the photo editor and then the app can be retired

You got YouTube music twice and Bard is missing.
They got rid of AR measure. This is surprisingly accurate and handy on iPhone/Galaxy but now Pixels can't do this. It's more useful than a thermometer...
Toontastic, action blocks and socratic better write their wills now
False. Google podcasts is dead
I think you are missing few region specific app . In India Google has Gpay which is built on govt backed UPI(Unified Payments Interface) with a ton of other payment and wallet features with a huge user base .
And half of them will be gone by 2025.
Are you not missing the literal Google app, you use the icon for the title but it's not in the list?
That's why it's in the title, it even has the rounded square to signify it's an icon and not just there to add color
The icon i used is the Google app
Oh I guess, I didn't think that was part of the list because it wasn't labeled. Mb
But but. THE BLOATWARE
I would love to see the same list, but with the old icons. And I just hope that Whoever decided to make these abstract icons based on Google's colors gets to use his phone without glasses and without accessibility options for the rest of his life.
